I have promised to post another deal from the previous les paul copy.

Just found another LP, this is prob the lowest price I can find. For those who missed out, may have a look at this.

Not a bargain, but a good deal regarding of the price. Have gone through a few youtube reviews, it sounds pretty good imho, would not be a bad option for mods.

      Play what you love, practice as much as you can, invest in learning (books, lessons, DVDs) rather than gear, and try to keep improving (challenge yourself).

      It takes time but is absolutely worth it.

      Find a song you like, look for chords or tabs, and play that. I wouldn't even call myself a guitarist, but I do like to play along with songs I like.

      It's just for a bit of fun. If you're really into making music though, then by all means take lessons. Do free ones, buy books, pay for lessons, etc.

      Full disclaimer though: I haven't bothered to learn like that. Maybe it's not my instrument, but it's fun to play along with stuff I like.

      I agree, with simialr margins the Yamaha PAC is prob a better overall guitar with SSH configurations. But This guitar is not bad either judging on the reviews on Youtube. Small fixes on things it will sound great.

        Yes Pacifica is more versatile and has actually has humbucker at the bridge to get chunky with your power chords. Would be more fun to rock out with for students.

          The prospective buyer for this guitar would be buying on image association (shape) more than likely driven by a shop floor sales droid pushed impulsive buyer excitement rather than spec. Even if they were buying on the latter, the two guitars are a completely different kettle of fish, particularly neck wise in their feel and playability, actually far more important to the predominant target buyer of these units than the PUPs they come fitted with. And that's before any discussion on the two different scale lengths and bridge types. I'm not dissing one or the other, just sayin'.

          The better of the two for any individual in pragmatic application is the one whose looks and feel will inspire the bugging guitar Gumby to pick up the instrument most often in order to to learn to play it. In truth, there's no wrong decision that can't be altered at this price point, less than most kids would spend on KFC, Subway, Domino's or Maccas in a month.

        I have no problem with Epiphones whatsoever (Although I think they are still somewhat overpriced compared to some other budget Gibson imitation guitar brands), I just think a Les Paul guitar without a set-neck wouldn't sound much like a Les Paul (And then the single-coil pups too - basically it looks like a Les Paul but I don't think it would sound much like one).

        If I were recommending a Les Paul guitar for a beginner I would rather recommend buying an Artist LP60 with humbuckers and a set-neck, at least it would sound a lot closer to a classic Les Paul.

          That's all fine and well, ….in theory.

          I'd even half agree with you for the buyer wanting a trad or custom LP clone. The Artist LP60 is a decent deal. But;

          A. This isn't a trad Les Paul clone nor pretending to be, nor targeting that buyer/demographic. Someone wanting a LP and capable of using its features would be aware of that, and that they weigh a figurative tonne.

          B. It's available now. Artist's LP60 isn't. (caveat -1 showroom demo stock remaining, condition unknown)

      Yeah, the double humbucker version is the VE. I'd be paying the extra $60 or so for that instead.

      I have had the VE for about 15 years, and it still sounds great!

      Never seen a Les Paul with single coils before.
      Would 100% go with P90s or buckers
      Still - it's pretty cheap

          The variability is much more pronounced at this price point. Some cheap guitars are great, some are junk. It's case by case.

          Worthwhile deal post Yaren24. It's a nice pickup from a name brand at that price point.

          Not everyone is in circumstances where they can afford more, or mum 'n dad are gonna' drop $.5k on an electric guitar their kid may or may not continue past the teen impulse phase with it. An worthwhile alternative to the no longer available blue Aldi Tele electric guitar deal without the 'guitar from a supermarket aisle' uncertainty and no status brand bashing baggage.

        All Les Paul models had P-90 single coil pickups until the humbucker came along in 1957.

              @edrift: They're ceramic single coils, and just two of them. Despite the beautiful clean in that demo, which was impressive, they'll dirty up nicely. The amp you use, its grunt, settings & features will impact significantly on achieving the tone you want. It won't sound anything like a trad Les Paul clone because it's not in so many respects. Wraparound bridge, thin body, bolt on neck lacking that huge LP sustain block, and of course, those pickups. Looks like a fun hand-around-hack guitar for just $200.

      Watching several of the YT push/demo vids, it does seem an impressively decent unit for a cheapie, but undeniably overpriced locally. Made in China, the Epiphone les Paul SL sells in the US for ….wait for it, just USD$99!

      Even taking into account our utterly abysmal exchange rate on the hyper-inflated USD, that's just AUD$143 not a ("we'll take your order and get it in for you") AUD$209, nor the current next best street price of AUD$219 (no pricematch on NIS items) from the dominant AU box shifters if you want any other colour than Heritage Cherry Sunburst.

      Yet another illustration of how we get ripped off in AU by international single line distribution policies through their 'annointed' local AU distributors. Even factoring in the moot argument of 'but there's 10% AU GST', inc. that'd still just AUD$157! Yet somehow (dumber?) Aussie consumers are supposed to eat their bowl of gruel swallowing a WHOPPING 39.5% premium -using our AUD$219 inc GST (vs USD $99/AUD$143 shipped -no State sales tax) as baseline. Even if taking into account GST rationalising a proportion of the differential, that's still a whopping margin and difference.

        They are including shipping as well. So maybe $20 or so that you would normally pay. It's also an established pricing, I started in 2005 and had the option of a Squire or Jordin for around $200 w/o shipping. I ended up with a Jackson JSX concept 94 secondhand for $299. This or an ESP from JB would have been better for tone and reliability etc.
