  • which one is faster write speed? this or SanDisk Ultra Dual from previous deal
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/549461

    • +1

If there's no advertised write speed expect it to be sloth-like slow

    • +1

definitely this Samsung, by a lot
the Sandisk Ultra line is quite slow

  • One of mine that I bought in March just died. Thinks its only the 2nd USB I've ever had die on me. Anyone had any experience with making a warranty claim with Samsung?

    • +1

you can take it the store or chat online. i have personally claimed a galaxy s8 with batt issues and its been very straight forward

      • did they replace the phone or battery, my battery its draining fast

        • +3

Their warranty is very easy and surprisingly very good. My S8 was having screen burn issues so i took it in on month 23 to give it a quick refresh before i passed it down to mum. They replaced the screen, the sim tray and metal frame, and they replaced the Battery. she essentially got a new phone and really makes you think twice about considering a grey import just for that extra sim slot or Snapdragon (unless you really need it).

          • @ExtraSalt: So true. This is why I value local warranty so much. I've had a battery replaced within warranty for free. No questions asked! I wish I saw a slight burn-in at the time as I'm sure they would've replaced it too.
I'm now awaiting a xmas deal on Samsung Edu store for Note 20 Ultra for my new phone.

are you talking about claiming from samsung or phonebot?

        • samsung

    • +3

I had two warranty claims with Samsung USB drives.
      Same process both times.
Contacted them via chat. Provided all details.
They sent me prepaid AustPost satchel. First time it was 3kg one. For USB drive. Very efficient. :)
Replacement item was arriving in a week or two after I mail the faulty one.
First time it was microSD instead of USB drive. :) But bigger capacity so I was Ok with that. :)
Second time it was just bigger USB drive of the same model.

I would rate it quite easy process once you pass "check this, check that" stage of online chat.

      • are you talking about claiming from samsung or phonebot?

        • via samsung

        • Samsung.

  • Good review with speed tests

    https://www.minitool.com/news/samsung-usb-3-1-bar-plus.html

"sequential speeds, the Samsung BAR plus read and write speeds are 283.48MB/s and 61.84MB/s"

"2MB random, the Samsung BAR Plus 3.1 read and write speeds are 269.31MB/s and 56.01MB/s"

    • Yea! I am copying a movie to one right now and it's hovering between 57.4-61.6 MB/s write. I've no complaints tbh.

    • -2

damn thats fast, my sands ultra write speed its snail like speed ~15mb/s

      also its Mb not MB

      • +2

Mb and MB are the correct terminology

        Mb = Megabits
        MB = Megabytes

If your sandisk ultra only gets 15Mb/s then it's either connected to a USB2 drive or there is something wrong with it.

    • Hi rep: using Samsung s5e tablet with chrome. Coupon field is visible in portrait but not in landscape

  • Perfect timing. I’ve been on Amazon a few times today looking to order a fast USB drive. Thank you.

What sort of delivery time frame are we looking at please?

    • standard delivery with auspost is taking roughly 10 days (from melbourne to qld) out of recent experience

  • +3

    I got charged $28.37, it didn't give a full $20 discount

And the code is save$20 (not a %)

  • Picked one up last deal, super fast, works as expected, feels quality - doesn't get too hot when read/writing from/to drive.

  • +2

    Thanks. Got one for $28.36
    iPad: no space for coupon
iPhone: no login button - but https://www.phonebot.com.au/login works
Email: sent me another coupon code “$20off” and none of the button on the email works

  • Just so you peeps know, I bought two of these BAR sticks. One silver and another one's black.

The silver one died after I wrote an OS into it and the other ones almost gave me a heart attack by corrupting an excel sheet I've worked for months. I though that was the only copy but I had another one on google drive without realising. It would still periodically cease working when I'm just copying files from one computer to the other. Maybe I'm just unlucky…

    • where did you buy it? any luck with warranty?

      • -1

One from eBay and the other one from Officeworks. Didn't bother with the warranty because the replacement might fail as well…

  • +2

The website and checkout is trash but it got there in the end.

  • Thanks op, got one

  • spend a bit more and get a portable ssd: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32843026641.html

    • +1

No name SSD from China… wait for shipping etc vs Australian stock USB lol

      • the no name ssd is really good. i bought the 250gb one for work a while back and its a solid performer. i need a 1tb one eventually

      • SSDs are way faster for most applications, they're generally more reliable too in my experience, had a few USB sticks die on me…

  • goneski?

    .
I got one last deal for the LG OLED TV but it doesn't work as it's file format is exFAT which LG doesn't yet support (exFAT is better for file size etc)
ok I could reformat it ….. worth keeping in mind is what you plan to use it for

    • +1

Reformatting is literally a 1 click operation. This is like saying a fan needs it’s power dial adjusted

  • Hi Rep
are you getting any more stock?

    • Yes we have but i wasnt able to negotiate for a deal for now. I just posted a 256gb deal. See if that intersted you :)

      • Thanks anyway. Just looking 128gb
