plus shipping which is $7 for me

    • I was wondering the same thing.

    • He said $98 inc. shipping though?

  • Comes up with $14 shipping to TAS… Would've been alright if not for that

  • Does it come with a usb3 cable?

    • +2

yep. bought one on the last bigw sale for this drive

  • Shipping is free to VIC.

    • Not according to the website - $7.00 shipping for 3000

  • Anyone ever owned a HP external?? not many reviews.. my Western Digital almost set fire to my house so I'm staying away from them.

    • +1

i bought two of these last sale (so not that long), (i also have lacie, WD, HP, maxtor, samsung all connected to my HP mediaserver). i think it's the most quiet, sleekest looking one i have, and it seems to be fairly quiet in operation.

      • How long does it take to become usable from when it is sleeping?

        • i don't know about sleeping but, when you plug it in it takes about 30 seconds to become available. it's 3x times faster than my wd passport(2.0), i got it 2 weeks ago(previous deal) and i haven't had any problem so far ;)

      • Can you please tell us the HDD inside these?

    • Warranty?

    • +4

how did it nearly set fire to your house? care to elaborate

      • +2

it was drunk and passed out on the couch whilst smoking a cigarette….

  • Postage $7 to WA as well.
Couldn't find model #, warranty length, power consumption specs. HP site isn't very user oriented.
    So giving a miss.
Also saw Simple Save 2TB usb3 elsewhere in OZ online shop incl post for $110, so how bout $98 shipped bigw?

  • Warranty is likely two years but limited to the drive only, going by other similar HP models.

  • +1

site advises postage of $14 or $7 depending on location in WA
so price is really $112 or $105.

previously was $107 with free post 8 weeks ago
    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/51832

    same price 2 weeks ago
    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/54202

maybe can pickup in store at this price?

    • Nah, unless it is that price in-store, online only deals are completely different.

    From their product specs:

    Delivery Type

    Free Delivery - AU Small

yet when i entered postcode, they charge $7, WTF?

    • +2

It's a shame you negged - it really is a good price. Given that the listing states free delivery, if you contacted them (or reported the inaccuracy to them) I'm sure they would have fixed it.

      • has been reported…

        • -1

postage costs need to be added to the deal. and the deal title should have been edited 5 hours ago to avoid this issue.

a mod could have done this if the OP was unable to respond.
maybe all the mods were unavailable?

        • +2

The OP listed it correctly. The offer is for free postage and Big W are the ones that need to update their site.

        • +1

a mod could have done this if the OP was unable to respond.

Unless it gets reported, a mod will not necessarily know about it….

  • yea, same.. it is not free delivery, i tested by entering melb postcode….still have to pay
    btw i live in syd

  • Good price considering its a 2TB HDD that costs at least $85 from places like MSY. And comes with USB cable and looks sleeker than all other external drives.

    • -1

      2TB with usb3.0 & 3.5" desktop for $85??
      link please

      • What i meant was the HDD alone is $85 - gotta get an external USB 3.0 case, of which you can get ugly ones for $30-40. So it works out way more for a half assed solution with less warranty. Therefore this is a good deal if you are after an external HDD.

  • i just bought it as well, and got charged $7 for delivery?..homepage says free delivery? will call them up tomorrow and req a refund of the delivery charges, they are most likely closed today..

    • looks like they changed it into standard on the webpage

  • Great Price, thanks OP. I am sure the BIG W postage error will be fixed.

FYI, if you don't have USB 3.0, like me, you can get a 2TB USB 2.0 WD Elements drive from OfficeWorks for $98.

    • +4

i dont have usb3.0. but if 3.0 is at same price as a 2.0, i will definitely go with usb3.0

  • +5

its backward compatible so you would definitely buy the 3.0…

  • Does this require a power adapter connected or is it usb powered? I find power adapters connecting HDD's pretty inconvenient.

    • But they dont short power themselves if you plug it out incorrectly. just had a POS toshiba usb drive die on me with all my work instead…

  • -4

what is so great about usb 3.0?

    • +5

      It's very fast.

    • +1

Haha funny how the only username who +ve your comment happened to be 'fastdude' =p

For a 2TB external HD, 3.0 is useful because i think the transfer speeds are up to 10x faster than usb 2.0 (Theoretically). Well, that's what they say. So it's fast dude.

      • +1

I thought it a fair question for most ordinary people..see below ;)

    • Nothings great about it, if you only have USB2 on your computer.

But the USB3 spec allows faster data transfers if you were to upgrade your PC to one with USB3 ports in the future, or you could fit a USB3 pcie card now, to take advantage of the faster speeds.

  • +1

Looks like it's out of stock now :(

  • the 3Tb deal was better IMO

    • What 3TB Deal?

        • It was a good deal for a 3TB HDD by itself, but if you want a decent transfer rate - $30 to upgrade it to USB 3.0 so thats $150 all up.

        • Going price per TB ratio, the 3TB deal was still better(given 3Tb still attracts a Price Premium over 2TB), plus I doubt I'd buy one based on this and the whirlpool threads.

Also I have no idea what hard drive is in the HP, while I know for sure the Seagate has a 7200rpm one and the model number as well[ST33000651AS].
Yes there are 5400rpm USB3.0 drives, I have a verbatim one which is 5400rpm, still fast but not as fast as the Seagate. The seagate is also highly customisable(goFlex connections) and also provides same warranty as the HP

  • hey, there are two options, 1) evoucher for 7 dollars, 2 ) giftcard to be used instore

just got a call from the rep, about the 7 dollar charge, so it is a mistake by them.

    • Also got a call from a woman from Big W. She, with a little hesitance, said I was able to get a refund to credit card but it would take up to seven days to return.

Two minutes later I got an e-mail from Big W offering to give me an E-Voucher to the value of $7, but it remains to be seen what will happen.

Although, if your name's Raymond I think I got your e-mail, because they addressed me as "Raymond" despite it being nowhere in my name or e-mail address!

      • im not raymond, but i actually wanted to get refund to credit card, but store credit still ok,

  • I rang them and they said no idea about it.

Was told to send some proof that their websites states "delivery is free"

Anyone was told about this ?

  • was told to send proof to [email protected]

How do people get calls from bigw ?

  • Hey guys, how do we go about getting the $7 refunded/evoucher etc…Are we meant to call them? If so which number - I paid $7 when I had seen/under the impression it was free shipping..???

Thanks for the replies in advance!
