      • Wish they were 24 hours like McDonald's

    • Oh wait, they do in Perth

HOT N SPICY YEAH!!!!! GET IN MY BODY!!!!!!!

  • Australia wide?

  • One thing I always seem to get wrong is the crispy order. Which one is crispy ? The spicy or original ? In the past I tried ordering both types got the soft one.

    • +2

Hot and spicy is definitely the crispy one

    Best news all year 2020!

  • +1

    available in NSW?

  • Need that hot and spicy to kill the covids

  • 10 pieces in a "head" of chicken. I used to be a KFC cook! It was fantastic 😊
They are definitely smaller chickens though.

    • so they are cooked in a pressurised deep fryer right?

any idea of temps and pressure?

  • In QLD it's always 9 pieces for $10.95 every Tuesday.

    • But this is 9 pieces for $9.95 save an extra $1

  • They closed down my local KFC :(

    • That is a sad sad piece of news.. any idea why?

Nearest KFC to me is an hour by train away.

Had a domino's close down few suburbs away due to rats.

      Yeah ew.

      • one word, asian bakeries

        • Yep that'll do it.

As an Asian myself we go on extremes from extreme clean to extreme dirty no in between there is always something that makes it lean one way.

          • @AlienC: LOL. The other week we went out to k-bbq and only the floor was dirty and nothing else. Though I'm think PappaRich and the city one is gross while our local (new opened in March) is extremely clean.

          • @AlienC: Getting a fresh, quick and healthy lunch for <$8, colonel never stood a chance

            • @[Deactivated]: colonel will feed you for a month for $9.95

        • +2

Asian bakeries- That's two words buddy :P

          • @Craze: asian-bakerees

      • Nearest KFC to me is an hour by train away.

        Location Sydney

Not possible. Where are you really? 🤔

        • maybe the nearest KFC is next to a train station on a different line

      • Apparently the chicken crossed the road

  • +5

Anyone else from NSW constantly coming back for an update and confirmation for hot n spicy! 😭

    • The original is too soggy. I didn't realise this was a problem until I moved out of the city.

      • +1

Chuck it in the oven for about 10 mins or so. Tends to crisp it up a little and excess fat drips off.

  • -5

Take half a beautifully bbq chook dinner w/spud, pumpkin, peas and gravy for $12 at my local chicken shop any day..

    • +11

Nah mate KFC is something else it's like crack cocaine.

So they don't do it on one day in leap years?

        • this is a leap year
          this is one day

    • Artarmon and Town Hall have it all year round. I think there’s another store that has it too…

    • +1

      Just for reference in NSW
      Town Hall
      Haymarket
      Ultimo
      Artarmon
      Chatswood Westfield
      Lindfield
      Dulwich Hill (?)

      • Yes, can confirm Dulwich Hill have them everyday. Thanks for the list. Anyone knows other suburbs not on list?

  • -7

I wouldn't eat KFC even if I was paid $9.95, the damage to your health is not worth it.

    • +1

Yeah it's not great. The last time I had the original recipe, I felt sick but I'd give the hot and spicy one another go.

      • -2

Don't try it again, This is what KFC does to you after eating it, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7U_IJPXwqE

        • Thanks for wasting 52 secs of ma life. Thought your link will lead to some enlightenment.

          FRIED CHICKEN IS LIFE!!

        • TLDW:

          blood flows slower after KFC
Means more time to give oxygen to your tissue

so KFC is actually good for you

    • +4

Each their own. I don't judge your organic soy lattes, so leave my KFC deals alone.

      LET MY CHICKEN PEOPLE GO!

  • F#¢ken legend

Best KFC deal there is. Easily more than a KG of chicken.

    • +1

It is honestly one of the best value deals ever.

Like you got $5 domino's pizzas if you are super desperate and on a strict budget but this kfc deal easily is like 2-3 meals if you are sensible more if you eat with rice and some cheap veggies to offset the heart disease.

  • It's FINALLY coming back. God O' Mighty, I've been waiting for such a long time!

  • In QLD it is available all year long at $10.95, agree $9.95 is a deal, but the KFC App Only makes it unusable with Survey Chips and Drink.

Will this deal be available in-store as $9.945 from next week onward, like most other deals?

  • +1

    Honey sesame was the best!

  • +1

this better be nationwide. Hate kfc for ruining my fav fast food restaurant with no h&s in victoria (except that one place).

    • which one place ???? :D

      • Victoria Gardens

        • THANKS!!!

          • @Ticalos: Yeah vic gardens is where they have h&s all year around. Kinda sucks its not near to where i live or work

            • +1

@kaleidoscope: Yeah, tell me about it!! it's pretty far from me too. Till now, I can't find any logical explanation for what they're doing, although it is quite popular here. Moreover, it isn't that spicy any more :/

    • +1

IMO the h&s at vic garden isn't even good. It just seems like they bread the larger pieces of chicken like a wicked wing and call it a day. No spice at all.

  • +1

If you’re gonna buy this, expect a waiting time of over 30mins in store during 5-7pm. Go drive-through, I feel like they prioritise them more than walk-ins.

    • Because they don't want the cars lined up on the streets/ road.

  • What do you guys say if you want more pieces of your preferred certain cuts, e. g., thighs?

Is there a special code word the staffers use in which I was told by an ex-employee that there was and I can't recall now nor have ever tried saying it in the past.

    • "can I please have thighs"

    • +1

You can specify certain chicken pieces and quantities of such pieces, however some requests such as "3 breasts in a 3 piece feed" or "no wings in my family feast" will most likely be declined, and will likely be told that "set combinations apply".

      • Does any specify "no breasts"? heard a few people and cant say i like the breast meat myself….

  • Has anyone made chicken rice?

    • You'll lose the crispiness of the hot & spicy.

    • Yep, but not as good as I was hoping.

    • yep, used the original recipe for the 'herb and spices'. Not as good as I was hoping for :(

  • Has anyone tried to freeze these and then refry them later on? Asking for a friend.

    • Actually, yes. Must have been 4-5 years ago, I bought some and froze them but heated them up in a normal convection oven. Works out alright, obviously not as good as when it's fresh, but when you can't get your hands on any because stupid KFC hasn't made it a year round menu item it goes ok.

      • Yeah man thinking of stocking up hard! Wonder if it'll be good in an air fryer hmm

        • +3

Much better after air-frying. That's the only way I have them.

The excessively excessive oil drains out, leaving it much more crispy than the soggy mess from the store.

These are my tested timings on a 1800w air fryer; factor in your own air fryer power:

          If air-frying from cold (room temp), 5-6mins at 200c;

If air-frying chicken that is still hot or warm from the store, 3-4mins at 200c.

          • +1

@KSMLJ: What about from frozen? ><

            • @CVonC: The chicken is cooked, so don't really have to freeze, unless you plan on keeping it over 5 days.

Just FYI, the meat will toughen up.

But if you must freeze, then plan ahead a bit.

If you want to have some frozen KFC that evening, bring it out for thawing in the morning before you leave for work.

As it winter now, its very safe to leave it on the table until dinner time.

In fact, it's probably also safe in summer, as the chicken is cooked.

Blast it in the air-fryer an additional 1-2mins.

Forgot to add this to my last comment:
Flip chicken around when the timer is 2/3 done. This way you get a nice even crunch all around.

              • +1

@KSMLJ: 5 day old kfc, yummm.

                • +1

@nepalesesquirrel: Old kfc is better than no kfc i admit that.

Though when the chicken is super tough it really needs a lot of heating to break it up again or something liquid to soften it up.

Never tried KFC more than a week old though frozen or otherwise.

            • @CVonC: I freeze them and when I want to eat them I normally thawed them overnight in the fridge and chuck it in the airfyer for 15 minutes 160c. Nice and crispy. Finger licking good.

              • +1

@ozbaragan: longest time frozen before cooking again?

                • +1

@CVonC: 2 weeks for me but I think it should be fine longer. Same like when you buy frozen nuggets perhaps??

    • Definitely can do. Fried chicken works quite well frozen. The hot n spicy more so than original.

      • how long can you have them frozen for?

  • The only reason why i live in Darwin is because of Hot'n'Spicy all year round…

    • Darwin is because of Hot'n'Spicy all year round…

      Damn you! why KFC why?

      • Perth has it year-round too.

    • Victoria Gardens in VIC has it all year round

      • Too expensive to live in richmond. Maybe I'll move to darwin as well to get my hot'n spicy fix.

  • +2

I wonder how many piece of KFC chicken of $26,000.

  • How many can you eat in one sitting?

    • +1

      i think 7 for me.

    • +3

      9 :(

    • +4

After 6 pieces for me the pleasure and happiness meter starts reversing into regret what have I done territory.

But funnily enough if I have rice with it then I can eat all 9 fine albeit maybe a bit slower.

      • mmm

        rice + chicken

        me hungry again

  • Anyone happen to know the average weight of 9pcs? Had Aldi's "southern fry" drumsticks which I find pretty good. 800g for $8, always seems to be as 4 large drumsticks. Just had it a few days ago and it feels less value vs 9pc, deal but reading some of the comments sounds like it might be pretty close.

    • Someone linked here on an earlier comment. Apparently it's an average 77g per piece. https://www.kfc.com.au/menu/chicken/1-piece-chicken

    • I found the Coles Southern Fried Chicken a bit better. Smaller pieces means more crunchy batter. After heating up with an air fryer, they tasted crunchier than the chicken pieces I had at KFC.

      • I got that in the past too when it was on special, and usually I only see the frozen stuff on special, not that I mind that. The Aldi stuff is from the fridge.
But wouldn't smaller pieces potentially mean more waste weight (i.e. bones) as well?

  • Last year it was a total disappointment at the KFC i went to in the north-west of sydney. Parklea?

Not spicy at all, way too oily and just broke into little pieces and caused a mess.
Gonna stick to Parramatta Rd KFCs.

    • Few bad batches last year. I took mine back and they felt bad and gave me extra.:)

  • +1

KFC Lindfield has hot & spect chicken all year round. Chatswood doesn’t it have it. 2 KFCs in shopping malls but no H&S.
