Directions for Using The Bag Oven Racks/Trays

  • Put on gloves provided in the kit
  • Remove the oven racks/trays, ensuring they are cool first
  • Make sure the cap on Oven Power is tight and then shake the bottle well
  • Place the oven rack/tray in the Closure Bag (The approximate size of the Closure bag is 100cm x 50cm.)
  • Carefully place all racks into the closure bag Add approximately 3/4 of the solution into the bag then seal
  • Move the bag around gently to ensure the entire rack is evenly covered. Fold the edges of the bag to keep product concentrated on the rack.
  • Place the bag in the sink/outside and away from bench tops or expensive furniture just in case of leakages
  • Soak for four hours or leave overnight
  • To remove, do not place hands inside the bag, instead place in sink with opening face-down and then peel back
  • Squirt a few drops of detergent onto the rack and rinse with hot water
  • See the amazing results!

Directions for the Oven Interior

  • Ensure that you are wearing gloves and your arms and wrists are fully covered
  • Remove oven racks
  • Pour some of the remaining solution into the centre of the oven then spread with a sponge
  • For the glass, leave for 30-60 sees. For the oven interior, leave for up to 1 hour.
  • Remove residue with a cloth or sponge, rinse with hot water
  • Depending on the build-up, a second spot application may be needed
  • Do not use on Teflon and self cleaning ovens.
  • For stainless steel surfaces - leave for up to 4 hours.

  • this stuff is fantastic…BUT has anyone got a way to clean the glass of an oven?

    • Oven Off is quite good on oven glass, and much faster than this thing.

Cheap - bicarb soda mixed with water to a paste. A bit more expensive - rub with a dishwasher tablet and warm water. the tablet will fall apart after a few dips, just rub the remains into the glass until clean (wear a glove) - quick and easy.

    • Flick door hinges so door comes straight off, undo glass layers. Cover with this stuff, only leave for 10 mins, wipe off..brand new glass.

    • Only way is using a flat scraper, the one with
retractable blade, a couple of dollars from Bunnings

  • I use ammonia. Is this any different?

    • This is essentially ammonia

      • No, it isn't.

        • My mistake, it looks like it's Potassium hydroxide KOH or caustic potash

    • This stuff smell a lot less, it's basically caustic soda with a thickener and surfactant (detergent) in it. It works very well, better than (cloudy) ammonia would.

      • So it's soap with unsaponified lye?

        • It's mostly lye (they use KOH but could use NaOH for the same effect) with surfactant (2-Butoxyethanol). Strictly it's not a soap (a salt of a fatty acid) and using unsaponified is superfluous.

So it's soap surfactant with unsaponified lye?

          • @Brouw3r: Fair correction. I was saying surfactant & soap interchangeably but I get that they're not always the same :).

Bought this last time it was half price at woolies. Worked amazing on the racks however not so much on the inside of the oven in my case.

      second this.

    • Yeah forget the tree huggers using vinegar or bicarbonate. You need a flat scraper to phisically remove the baked crap

  • +1

Yeah, the carboned base plates etc needed a few days in the bag/ in the sun to come good. Also, it says don't use on Teflon…take that advice! Stripped the Teflon trays bare (probably a good thing).

Also rinsed the bag and used again the next time using cheap amonia. Worked pretty much the same. Just be careful when first opening the bag (do it outside with some breeze, can burn your lungs etc).

just spray oven off - lye

  • Can I use it to clean burner grate? (oil leaked into it and burnt into black :(
