Very cheap deal (not going to neg) but I'm not convinced fabric conditioner is actually worth it. I used to buy it to make my gym clothes smell nicer but for my use eucalyptus laundry sanitizer make more sense and it's too expensive. https://www.aldi.com.au/en/groceries/laundry-household/laund…

I have previosuly found stuff that smells quite nice but my towels (one of the main uses according to marketing departments) have not been softer as a result of using this stuff and there's always a funny reaction with the detergent resulting in black flakes floating around the washing machine that are hard to get rid off. I think it's also called 'scrud'. I don't get why people actually spend money on fabric conditioner. I seems very anti ozbargain spirit. Is it all psychological as a result of the marketing making you feel you're missing out on perceived "cuddliness" or "comfort" if you dont use it?

This couldn't be closer to the truth. Fabric softener also wears down towels and makes them develop a mildew smell more easily. They're straight up not good for your clothes, either.

        • too slow with the edit
eucalyptus laundry sanitizer make more sense and it's NOT too expensive.

Yeah @antigrate towels seem to retain bad smells with fabric softner

Sorry, can you clarify: do you mean that the Eucalyptus laundry sanitizer is worth it and is better than these fabric softeners?

      • yes @Koipanda - gym & running clothes need to be washed immediately and sometimes that's not possible. If they've been sitting in a plastic bag for 12 hours it's best to use some eucalyptus laundry sanitizer

I run or gym a fair bit so keep some of the sanitizer around although don't always use it - you can get away with a double rise cycle depending on the situation

        • Sorry one more question. If u use this, does it replace the detergent and the softener or does it just replace the softener?

          • +1

@Koipanda: it replaces softener - you still need detergent (just don't use too much as it simply wastes money instead of cleaning better)

  • SO much cheaper to make your own, just use white vinegar, water and essential oils e.g. eucalyptus. Plus less rubbish and no harmful and toxic stuff on your skin!

    • That's brilliant! Thanks. Will try it out.

      • No worries, happy to help. Can also share some recipes for home made cleaning products, so much cheaper and better for your skin and lungs, it's really a no brainer!

  • Might need to update post as the pure flavour is sold out (nuts, the one I was going for and have been using in the past) but the other two flavours linked (vanilla orchard & sky blue) are still available for $3.49/$3.50 before S&S.

  • Thanks OP!
