  • This is an absolute bargain, I jumped on the last $29 cap with $10 monthly credit and I personally think it's great value. Don't want to appear to sell myself but if anyone is looking for a referral (bonus $25 joining credit) just message me and I will fix you up :)

    • how do i get this code ?

  • crappier Sony Ericcson than last time though.. but it's still good deal…

  • i actually got the 6288 for $29 cap +10$ monthly + yes PLUS $75 bonus credit cos I bargained with the operator LOL (she sounded so hot as well haha)
then i sold the phone on ebay for $190 :), min spend was $240-$75 extra credit=$165

so pretty much i got $25 bucks + free $20 credit calls free every month ahahaha, BEST DEAL EVER!

  • This will probably cause me to jump ship from Virginmobile.. But I'll call them first to find out what deal they might be able to swing me…
Three seem to be the only mob that offer great deals at the $30 Cap level.
They also seem to be the price leaders, always introducing a lower price ahead of everyone else.

    • Virginmobile were too stubborn to offer me any sweetener, so I signed up for an E65 on Saturday.

  • This is not as good as the last 3 mobile deal for low usage, because the pre July deal had minimum spend of $20 with cap of $29, meaning that the minimum cost was as low as $10 per month or $240 over 2 years.
The Nokia N73 is very tempting, though…..

  • if you know someone who have nrma membership, you use their membership to apply and get a $100 welcome credit :) (details on nrma website)

too bad i don't have one. but if someone can let me borrow it, then thx :)

  • which of one these would be the better phone? Thinking of getting my wife one of these phones…I was thinking of either the N73 or E65

    • I like the slide phones, though my nokia 6288 has a dumb 10second backlight timeout that can't be changed.

The E65 doesn't have radio or stereo headset (not a big issue though really), doesnt have a video call camera.

Here is a thread on whirlpool that might help.
      http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies-archive.cfm/718…

      • The N73 is a nice phone but suffers from scratches easily and the little button navigation fell off mine long ago. Camera is fanstastic for the price but software (symbian OS) can be a little finnicky at times.

  • Do we have to buy on the website to get $240 credits?
Is it possible to transfer number from Optus mobile?
    Thanks.

    • No you can buy it in store as well (last time they had it advertised in store), which is good as you can have a closer look at the phones before you decide which one to get.

I bought mine at doncaster shoppingtown, and since my mum worked in the center, i was offered a free car charger ($19 or so) if i took up a value pack ($5 a month, cancel any time) :)

    • It is definitely possible to port your Optus mobile number. I did it and had no trouble at all.

      • hehe oops yeah i forgot to mention that part, also you can port your number at any time, i havent ported my number yet, so you can use up your exsiting plan/prepaid credit etc and make sure your happy with 3 before committing your number to it (that way you don't have to cancel, just dont use it at all/much and save the cancelation fees).

  • I just got my first bill from 3 on the last $19 cap and it seems like they may have forgotten to apply the $10 credit, though they also said my minimum spend was $15.77 instead of $20 (old plan min spend is $20 not $29 like the new one)so god only knows whats going on, i may have to give them a call.

Also pandering for $25 credit for the both of us, if you wanna join up, send me a message via http://www.ozbargain.com.au/user/851/contact with your name and email address (required by their system) and i will send you a referral code, keep in mind there is a 24hour waiting period between me activating the referral and you being able to use it.

  • Great, E65 has finally become more affordable!

  • I reckon the w660i in black is the best out of the phones. Im one the old $19 deal but will be switchin to these new caps because there better value if u use more then the minimum spend.. (its increased from 20 to 29)

Also if ur keen on any of the phones i would do it online… the others sold out almost instantly in shops because there clearance stock. If anyone wants a bonus $25 referal credit on there first month just send a message with ur name and email address to http://www.ozbargain.com.au/user/8775 and ill msg u back with a referal code to use on signup

  • looks like the same sorta deals on are a couple other models:
    http://www.3shopdirect.com.au/ClearanceSales.aspx

Also I hate to ask yet again but I still don't quite understand the concept of this deal. Can someone please explain it in extremely simple terms (in a nutshell, what do you pay each month at a minimum and how do you go about getting the extra credit bonuses etc?)

Also would you just need an nrma membership number and thats it or would you need the member details in order to get the $100 credit? And is the MBC cashback still going?

    Cheers

    • In a nutshell:

Threes new $29 cap value is $150 credit to any network + $160 3 to 3 free calls.

Minimum Spend is $29 (therefore applying the $10 recurring credit each month it will be $19)

So if u get ur phone and only call ur mate once that month and it costs $1, you will still pay $19 ($29 minimum - $10 credit each month)

If u get ur phone and call all of ur relatives and the call costs add up to $80, you will only pay the minimum spend of $19 (This continues all the way up to $150)

So once u reach $150 the normal call rates will apply… for example if you use up all ur $150 and then make a call which cost $3 you total spend for the month will be $22 ($19 minimum spend from above + $3 used over ur cap)

The extra credit is when a 'friend' refers you, you both get $25 credit for the first months use. If u need a referal code just msg me ur name and email address to http://www.ozbargain.com.au/user/8775

I hope that cleared it up for u =]

      • Thanks for the info, that has helped.

Also what is 3's service like? From what Ive heard you mainly speak to India for CS?

Also are you able to check your bill during the month online or over the phone? If you buy online, can you take your phone to a local 3 store for repair? Is there any advantage to buying online or in-store?

Is it possible to get a whole bunch of credits applied such as refer a friend, NRMA & MBC?

EDIT: It seems MBC still do a cashback of $24 for this plan: https://secure.moneybackco.com/merchants.php?merchantid=1092

        • You can check the credit online and on the phone using Planet 3's website. I think you can only get one referral credit and it seems NRMA's $100 is the best.

        • Not sure about the service.. the only time i have rang is to unlock the phone and it was excellent.

For the billing you can do it live both on ur phone (planet 3 tab for free) and on my3 on 3's website.

And you cant bunch all the credits together its only possible to use 1.

          cheers

  • i have the e65 - 3's firmware sucked bigtime. generic firmware is great!

  • will the $25 referral credit work if i sign up instore?
if so, I might go and do that tonite!

  • How do you use the referral when buying online?

    • You can log in to your my3 account within 7days of signing up, go to the referrals area and enter it there. That is assuming it doesn't ask you before hand.

Edit: That is how it was the other month when i signed up in store, but my girlfriends code failed because her account was overdue, the referral claim page rejected my code, but support got it all sorted out.

  • If you are considering the E65, here's the E65 compared to the iphone http://mye65.blogspot.com/2008/06/why-you-shouldnt-bother-wi… and there's heaps more about the Nokia E65 on here (obviously)

  • I think they don't have N73 and E65 available in any shop.

  • After talking to more than 5 people on the phone, finally i've got a definite answer that they don't have any N73 and E65 in stock in any shop :D

    • then why not sign up online?

  • can anyone post their referral code here for me to use :)
thanks. easier than messaging thru contact name, etc.

  • Ordered an N73 on Thursday night and received an email on the weekend saying that the N73 was no longer available.

    • D'oh!!! Why they advertising stock not even available….

  • The link is not an official link from the website.

  • 3shopdirect and three.com.au have different stock levels.. both official sites

  • anyone have a referral code for me?

  • Just found out on Whirlpool that a guy who ordered an E65 2 days earlier than I did got a reply email telling him they no longer had any in stock..
I haven't contacted them yet, but they haven't proactively contacted me either.. I'm pretty sh!tty..
Seriously considering just going back to/staying with Virgin.. At least their service is acceptable!!
I'll contact 3 and see what they can do..

  • Just signed up in store, would not budge on any extra credits and any of the phones I wanted were sold out on the $19 deal so i went with $29.

Also I was told that the referrals need to be arranged 2 days before you sign up not afterwards? Anyway, if anyone has one for me let me know. I signed up for 2 plans…

  • that’s it. i’ve had it with 3 mobile:

    Dear Matthew,

    Thank you for your email.

Sorry for inconvience causes to you.

The Nokia E65 Red & Black is been discontiuned.

If you would like to proceed with your application further with any other handset, please reply to this email

SCREW THAT for a joke! garbage customer service, empty promises (clearly advertising the e65 as in stock, ready to order)…and now they have all my personal details. I am absolutely fuming. I don’t know how else I can take this further?!

  • maybe the TIO or ACCC

    www.tio.com.au

  • to get the referral, what you need to do is create an admin account on my 3. Go to the signup page and then choose signup with account number follow the prompts…the referral part is in there
