Dick Smith 32" HD LCD TV $248 Delivered! - 1 Hour Deal: 7pm-8pm AEST

440

First post. Be kind :)

Dick Smith's 1 hour deal today is for their own brand HD LCD TV. I'm not sure on the quality, I'm hoping some people can shed some light on whether the deal is worth purchasing or not. As a cheap second TV I thought it might be ok to put in the bedroom. Thoughts?

        np :)

Personally not a fan of this TV as not Full HD which some will argue won't matter at 32" but that's just me. It still gets a +1 though as good deal for kids room (console gaming)/grandparents room (old dvds and TV show reruns from the motherland).

I find the difference between two AWA TVs (one HD and one FullHD) noticable. I'd prefer to spend the extra money on Full HD.

Note that this TV is only 1366x768, not 1920x1080.

Hence why it is described as HD, and not Full HD…

      Good enough for 720p rips.

Same deal was done a few months back. I ordered, they took my money, then I was told it was on backorder and needed to wait 6 weeks. Cancelled the order and got the Full HD PVR Soniq from JB with the IPS (Panasonic) panel for $280 - much better panel and worth the extra few $ IMO.

  • If anyone was wondering, your unlikely to notice a difference in the same brand when comparing 1366x768 to 1920x1080 when viewing FTA and xvid tv shows/movies.

But if you watch higher quality content or its 40" or higher then the extra resolution is worth it.

  • Awesome TV. We've had one under the verandah for nearly a year with no issues. Better picture than you would expect. Great value at that price.

  • i'd buy the 31.5" full HD LED LCD version which they currently have listed for $299 in store or online…..i bought it on the 1hour online sale last month for $298 delivered….great tv when you fine tune the sound & picture settings

That would actually be entertaining television.

Instead of Beauty and the Geek the men are stingy instead!

        • Like Samfisher….. but we could call it "Beauty and the Cheap" :D

  • inb4 someone rips into op for saying "First Post. Be Kind :)"

Great deal… I really want a 32" TV to replace my 23" for gaming! Split screen is just too damn small on a 23"

  • I bought one of these in the last sale… here's the problems with it:

    • Red is a bight too bright compared to other colours
    • Not much shadow detail (i.e. in dark scenes it's a bit too dark sometimes)
    • No headphone jack

That said, I use it as a bedroom TV and I still find it very decent, especially considering the price. I bought it as a temprary TV until I can get something more decent… but to be honest, I'm happy enough with the TV so I'm just going to keep it. :)
