Seems to be a good price for this model.

Just note the MS office included with this must be the home & Student version, as it also has this in the fine print: "Conditions of Special Offer: For non-commercial use only. Available to personal and educational users, i.e. kindergarten to Year 12 and higher education students, faculty and staff. Conditions apply. See in store for details."

  • hello guys, what do you think of this deal?
    its a 2nd generation i5
I saw the hp deals, but I have been hit hard from hop and their metal frame killed me with overheating and laptop been in repair 3 times now and they wont replace it

so i thought to go with this acer, have anyone used acer before and what do they think of it?
thanks for the advice in advance

  • i have bought three acer laptops and i am happy with them.

  • Can someone confirm that this is second gen i5?

    • +2

The specs say Intel Core i5 2430M (2.4GHz) so yes. Second generation i cores's have 4 digits rather than 3 digits in the CPU name (e.g Core i5 xxxxm as opposed to just Core i5 xxxm)

      • yes , the 2 after the i5 means it is 2nd generation

  • It says $998 before cashback on the link…?

    • I ONLY linked the Domayne link for the specs, the deal is from Harvey Norman

LX.RHZ02.047-This isn't the actual model number so if you google it you get different specs in relation to the cpu on different sites.Bing Lee it's i5 2410m.
        Still,nice deal.

        • i think the Bing Lee one is LX.RHZ02.042

  • Yes,you are correct. My mistake, would be nice if Harvey Norman put up a better description. Can't find if it has USB 3.0?

  • This is a very good deal so far.

  • Just picked one up from HN at Martin Place.
Negotiated extra 2 year warranty (on top of 1 year acer warranty) for $72.

They don't even have the laptop on display, they only just received it.
Box says $998. Receipt $669 (with the $99 cash back still to come)
    Thanks for the post OP

    • NP :)

    • could you confirm model number? cheers.

Just went to Harvey Norman Brisbane CBD and confirmed it's AS5750G/NB16 but under new code of LX.RHZ02.047

Other websites stocking same item (well, Domayne = HN = Joyce Mayne LOL):

Bought the set. Awesome piece of machine plus free Office 2010.

Bought it from HN Malaga WA, they had 7 in stock when I went. Specs are exactly as OP has stated (as well as HDMI out, 1x USB 3.0 port, Bluetooth, Gigabit LAN), and the laptop is quite fast (even better after you fresh install windows 7 to get rid of the bloatware). The laptop is thinner and lighter than I thought it would be, and is quite stylish too.

Also comes with separate Microsoft Office Home and Student edition, but HN salesman said we could opt to get an accessory (case, ext warranty, mouse, hard drive etc) up to the value of Office (~$150 he said) if we didn't need Office.

Ended up replacing Office with a WD 750gb My Passport portable hard drive, and a Belkin cushion lap desk thing.

All in all, fantastic deal (JB Hifi sell the exact same model for +$200 at the moment, and don't include Office). The free copy of Office and the $99 cash-back are icing on the cake. Great value deal by HN for once :)

  • Picked this up today from Harveny Norman Erina. Also didnt need Microsoft office so picked up a laptop bag instead.
    thanks OP!

  • is the deal still available ?
