Hi all, been looking at Eufy cam for a while, noticed the 2 cam kit selling at Bing Lee for $599. Thought that's pretty good price, considering JB Hifi recently discounted it to $639 last week. I just got local JB Hifi in Perth to price match to $599 it without issue, and paid with 5% discounted gift card.

According to Price Hipster, lowest it has been is $499, but that would be for the 1st gen camera T8110. I can confirm the one I bought is the new camera (T8114) with improved Sony sensor (though not officially advertised by Eufy Australia), so definitely paying $100 more for improved night vision.

P/S CoTD also selling this for $599

extra info: To clear confusion here. Although Eufy doesn't officially release 2-cam set with second gen camera & Home base 2 in Australia (god know why they make it so confusing), can confirm the newer 2-cam retail box in Australia has the second gen cam (T8114 instead of T8110) and homebase 1. Personally prefer HB1 over HB2 due to battery backup feature.

  • That is definitely the first gen Eufy Cam. The new gen 2 has a blue function LED on the front of the HUB as can be seen here: https://images.idgesg.net/images/article/2020/01/eufycam-2-1…

If you get that model you can only ever pair gen 1 cameras to it. with a gen 2 hub, you can pair the new wireless doorbell and gen 2 and 2c cameras.

    • I thought that too initially, but can confirm in Australia, it doesn't come with Home base gen 2, but newer set will have the second gen camera.

I like homebase 1 better too anyway, got battery backup feature built in.

      • I do like the idea of the battery backup. are there any other downsides to the gen 1?

I've also read some people have ordered (specifically from NZ) and it's a bit of a lottery whether you get the gen 1 or gen 2 cameras.

        • Got a mate bought from TGG, if you buy a box with model T8801CD2 printed on it, pretty certain you will get the new camera

      • Gen 2 Homebase with Gen 2 Cam are compatible with HomeKit and able to store recording to iCloud

    • The 2C cameras can be paired to homebase 1 with a software update from support.

  • Hi, This looks like the homebase 1, did you receive this with the homebase 1 or 2?

    • Home base 1, but camera is second gen, as above

  • Available on their Ebay site at the same price

awaiting for Amazon to match it now!!!

    • yea saw that too, but thought would be easier just get from brick and mortar, in case any warranty issue.

  • Eufy cam 2 has the newer sony sensor. This cam and kit is all GEN1

Eufy cam 2 might not get released in Australia, most likley we will get the Eufy cam 2 pro which is 2k

    • see above comment mate..put it simply Eufy made it very confusing for consumers in Aus

    • I can definitely confirm this set comes with Eufy Cam v2 and Homebase v1

      • Pretty lucky if that's the case, better cams

  • Just bought, mine at Officeworks with a price match
    $999 + $6 delivery… - $5 = $954.75..

No identifying marks to tell which cameras inside..

    will open up soon..

    Damn

The T8111 older cams in mine.. its all pot luck…

    • you could tell from the packaging, the old packing got more white than blue.

Any pics to see the difference?

      • My box had lots and lots of blue.. basically 4 of the 6 sides were blue..

        • +1

fair enough, probably not a good indicator lol (just my gut feel). but look for T8801CD2 code on the box might help?

    Homebase 2 Vs Homebase:

-The Homebase 2 doesn’t support AI, the Homebase of eufyCam support AI.
-The LED light on Homebase 2 is blue, it is red on Homebase/Homebase E.
-The Homebase 2 of eufyCam 2 support Homekit when using eufyCam 2

    Camera 2 Vs Camera:

    -Different Model name on the silk printing;

Under the box, look for the word Iteration 2.

That means it comes with v2 cameras.

Got mine from JB HiFi, can confirm EufyCam 2 (T8114) in the box with a 1st gen homebase. There are some old boxes around with the gen 1 cameras… so good luck. All I can suggest is go somewhere that sells a lot of them so you're less likely to get old stock.

    • did you price match too?

  • Does this version support Homekit?

    • +1

      No, if I'm not wrong.

    • The cameras will support HomeKit if it's connected to Homebase V2 but this set comes with the Homebase V1

  • I like eufy, need to buy 2 cameras and home base. If anyone see’s a good deal could you provide a link. Hard to keep across all companies deals etc all the time. Thanks

    • Umm, the one in my link? $599 is pretty good I reckon, been selling for $749-799 usually. Even during jb hifi sale last week which I almost bought, only brought down to $639

  • Just a warning that Wyze version of this system is in preorder now $50US for base and a single battery camera & $40 for each extra camera. battery 6months, I think it's 1 or 2 weeks free cloud recording.
Cameras like Eufy and Arlo are extremely overpriced for the hardware, and the Wyze might be about to reset what these sorts of cameras sell for, and the selling prices will reduce by a huge amount.

    • Don't know about wyze, but after using both arlo pro and eufy cam 2, I can tell you eufy cam is miles ahead in term of quality and user friendliness

You didn’t mention it only records 12 second clips and it needs 1 min to cool down before recording another 12 second clip. As a security camera that’s a major problem since you can easily miss what’s happening, someone’s face or license plate number during that cool down period. 12 seconds is just not enough"

I was keen on the Wyze cam until I see this, now I am not sure
