    Any chance for a better deal on the Samsung 860 SSD's? Your "Hot Deal" of $115 for the 500GB is somewhat underwhelming compared to other sellers' prices

  • this or the Crucial BX500? it's $46

    • Crucial 100%

      • the BX500 is also dramless and also rather shit

        be that as it may, as long as its not a boot drive it should be ok???? and even as a boot drive most people wouldnt notice the difference

        silicon power is a brand but its not quite Z tier but its not quite C or D tier either.

        • it's only going in an old 2012 laptop with an i5 running win10 I just wonder whether the limiting factor would be the SSD given the tech, yes it would be a boot drive

            @Irishness: You'll be good especially on a 2012 laptop.

            I've had a new pc on a samsung 860 and a bx500 and the difference wasnt that big to me but then i'm not benching or doing mass transfers

            if you are doing mass transfers then you will definitely see a difference

    Its 4k writes are good. It has a large cache of MLC. Bought one for my backup computer to replace an ancient 750gb HDD. $44 it's a no brainer
