    ddwrt support is a WIP.
    https://wiki.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Supported_Devices#TP-…

Would be a pretty powerful wrt router for the price if it's ever supported.
Pretty good deal in any case.

    looks like a stadium

  • Strange, says end of life on the specs page, but looks like it supports wifi6 which is pretty new, no?

    • +1

if thats the case id say they got WIFI6 supported, but will no longer make firmware for the router going forward.

      • Makes sense, thanks Bread.

From the specs page for anyone else interested. Seems like a decent deal for 3 channel wifi 6 router

        Standards
        Wi-Fi 6
        IEEE 802.11ax/ac/n/a 5 GHz
        IEEE 802.11ax/n/b/g 2.4 GHz

        WiFi Speeds
        AX11000
        5 GHz: 4804 Mbps (802.11ax)
        5 GHz: 4804 Mbps (802.11ax)
        2.4 GHz: 1148 Mbps (802.11ax)

        • Hmm i must be blind. Cannot see those specs you posted.

So what you saying this router dose all the latest specs including AX and wifi6?

          If so why so cheap?

            • @Osiris: This is crazy cheap for wifi 6, I'm guessing there's a mistake somewhere

              $500+ on amazon: https://www.amazon.com.au/TP-Link-Wireless-Tri-Band-Archer-C…

@Osiris: LOL is it the wrong model. The link has 8 removable antennas (look under WIFI Range) while this for sale router only has 6. Definitely different model.

WTF is with the same model number so confusing :(

              • @mt2000: Hrmm but then on the main page it says "Six high-performance antennas maximize coverage area and stability"

                • +1

@Osiris: LOL you are right. Now really confused. NFI now.

All review point this router is at lease 5 yrs old. Also on the Overview page it said End Of Life?????

                  • +2

@mt2000: Agree, inclined to think TP Link somehow put new specs on an old product page. No other retailer selling this mentions Wifi6 etc.

    • Archer C3200 is 802.11ac wifi 5.

  • This or M9 Plus?Which is better coverage?

    • M9 Plus.

  • How similar is this to the WireCutter top pick, A20?

I think there is an error on the TP-Link site in relation to this router. It's definitely not WiFi 6. The fact that the specifications say 8 detachable antennas and there are only 6 on this one is an indication of an error. You can see a review of the original router here from 2016. It would make EOL more plausible.

yeah very misleading info's. There will be some very pissed off people who brought it.

    • +1

You are right. This router is not a WIFI6 router. This router was released at the end of 2015 from my memory. The A20 is the Tp link C4000 and there is another router A10 which were released from last year. But all of them are wifi 5 router.

  • So what's the difference between this and. https://www.amazon.com.au/TP-Link-Archer-C4000-Tri-Band-Arch…
    Edit….Sorry figured it out..
    600 by 1300 / 1300 vs 750 by 1625 / 1625

    • There is one more difference: the CPU. The CPU is essentially one gen ahead on C4000. Furthermore, it is a quad core CPU.

  • Stupid question. But does this support NBN?

    • Yeah!

      • I think all a router needs is a WAN port for NBN. The NBN comes with a modem and ethernet cable to plug in to a router.

        • Yeah a router with a WAN port and sometimes VLAN 802.11q support if your ISP requires this setting.

FTTC, FTTP & HFC = NBN connection device + router.

FTTN & FTTB = provide your own VDSL modem.

  • Anyone had luck with flashing to DDWRT and getting it to work with TPG FTTC Vlan2?

  • This or this one https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/555382

    What do you guys reckon?

    • What do you need? A router or more wifi range?
