First post!

Been keeping an eye out for the LG27GL850 but prices have been sky high since the last $699 on Amazon. I saw the S2721DGF paper release last month and was interested. Saw the Coupon code and it took it down from $629 to $534.66. The panels are supposedly the same as the LG27GL850 but you'll have to put up with the Dell aesthetic. Dell also seems to have excellent warranty service so that's a plus. It seems to be an great buy for creatives as well since it covers 98% DCI-P3.

Who does Dell use for freight?

    • would like to know this as well. don't want to deal with fastway again

    • +1

Startrack for everything I've ever bought from them.

  • Tough choice….this or the Delll 32inch S3220DGF?

    • 2 of this

  • Is there any harm in getting this even though my tower won't get close to achieving 144fps with a GTX 1660 Super and an old i5?

    • +1

Do you already have an IPS panel? I'd hold off if you do, but otherwise it's not a bad pickup for media consumption and future upgrades. Monitors last for ages.

  • -2

I can confirm it the code works and the price 534.66 is as stated. However I applied the discount code through the Honey app - https://www.joinhoney.com/. Price better than anywhere else i've seen for the specs.

    • What was the final price you got mate??

      • Yes it was.

        Pricing Summary

        Qty Unit Price Total

Can a professional help me here please I saw this 16gb 4000 mhz deal and it sounds amazing!! But i dont know if these tipe of ram are good and high quality:

    https://www.newegg.com/global/au-en/team-16gb-288-pin-ddr4-s...

Also, will it reach the 4000Mhz wit Rizen 3600 ?

    • Better to look for help in the forums or something. Probably why you're being negged.

It looks okay. T force is decent bang for your buck ram from what I've heard and it has better brand recognition outside of Australia.

  • Is this a good monitor for other non-gaming related activities? I already have a 34" LG 1080p monitor but the text looks blurry on Slack and Chrome. Would it be better to go for a 4k 34" monitor with 60 Hz over this?

    • +2

32" 1080p monitor is going to look pretty poor unless you view from about 1.5m or you have pretty poor/old eyesight.
If you're old or have poor eyesight then this monitor would be a waste on you and you'd be better sticking with 32" FHD

      • Thanks for the response. I have prefect eyesight. The 34" monitor was free from work to wfh during lockdown. Would two of these monitors be a better setup than a 34" 4k monitor?

        • Its bezel vs non bezel. Also, PPI is higher on 4k so everything looks crisp if it supports hidpi.

    • 4k monitors are great if you are ok with 60 hz, not only images look great but text is incredibly sharp, i had 1440 p , now have 4 k, don’t think i could ever go back to 1440 p, buy most of my work is primarily business apps, CAD, with some gaming.

  • I am thinking of getting this stacking arm for my setup. I have no experience with monitor arm. Can someone tell me whether stack arrangement is more functional than side by side if not limited by desk space?

  • +1

I got one as well but i'm thinking this could of been a pricing mistake . US store has it for $569.99 USD.
Also surprised it hasn't sold out yet - alot of people seemed of made a purchase(or 2).

  • Can some one pls tell me is it good for photo editing ?

    Thanks

    • hey someone replied to me up above, it uses the same panel LG27GL850 which is IPS and the reviews for the LG are good for photo editing and premier pro for it's price.

  • Tempted to pull the trigger but I can't justify the need just yet.

It helps that I had a really good experience with Dell Warranty last week so I know whatever I get from them will be well supported and easily replaced within a day or two at most.

Purchased the 32” Samsung Gaming Monitor for $374 about a month ago.

Arrived faulty, offered a replacement or refund. Still waiting on them to pickup the monitor.

I originally opted for replacement, but now thinking I should get this instead.

    Thoughts?

    • -1

Samsung monitor is well known for its unreliability.

      • Purchased this. Will get a refund from Samsung. Such sh*t customer service there as well.

    • +10

      IPS + 1440p?

      • Lol my bad, I didn’t read the ad properly obviously. Carry on…

  • +1

Would this be a good for dual monitor setup for content creation? Would really appreciate some recommendations!

  • Cheers op copped 1, great first deal mate

  • Clicked on the deal not really needing any new PC monitors, now have two of these on the way.

    Thanks op ;)

  • This or the Xiaomi?

  • Has anyone got a link saying the panel is the same as the LG?

  • Has anyone got a review of this gaming monitor. How does it rate compared to other monitors in the same range. Since its a new product. Tempted to get wondering if I should wait to get a better review on this monitor.

  • This came out a few days ago right? Are there any reviews of it yet or is everyone just copping this and trusting it will be good?

    • +1

I think most people are just copping it. They're expecting dell QC + same panel as GL850. Worse comes to worse we can get a refund if it doesn't stand up to our expectations.

      • +4

This 1440p Dell monitor uses the same 1ms Nano IPS panel as the LG 27GL850, our current #1 Best Gaming Monitor pick. We like this panel because it combines the traditional strengths of IPS - wide viewing angles, excellent colour reproduction - with the extremely fast pixel response times of modern TN panels. That makes these monitors extremely good all-rounders, perfect for PC games of all genres plus colour-sensitive work. The S2721DGF outperforms the LG monitor in several departments too, with a higher 165Hz refresh rate, excellent ergonomics and both FreeSync and G-Sync Compatible certifications.

        https://www.eurogamer.net/amp/digitalfoundry-2020-get-razer-...

This monitor is actually 165hz not like its a difference but if you use DP it can reach 165hz.

CR is telling me I'm gonna get $14.58 back on this purchase. BONUS!!!

    • +19

what happened to the hold your money, they will be $400 by xmas?

      • +1

        FOMO happened

      • I have doubt they can pump out enough monitors to make it true even for next year. Demand and supply.

  • I have a UP2716D, which is an Adobe RGB monitor, for photo editing. Will it work with this monitor, given it is a P3 monitor? How does colour management work in that scenario?

    • I may be wrong as I'm not 100% sure on this, but iirc each file you work with will use a certain colour profile (e.g. Adobe RBG), which you can convert to other colour profiles (P3, sRBG). Keep track of your colour profiles within the file/photo you're working on. If you open up the Adobe RBG file you're working on on this monitor, the monitor I assume will output whatever the closest conversion is, but as long as you are keeping track of the colour profiles, you will know that what you are seeing isn't 100% accurate as this monitor won't support every colour available with Adobe RBG, until you open it back up on your Adobe RBG monitor. If you want to accurately (as accurate as a gaming monitor gets anyway) test your work on a P3 display, convert a copy to P3 and use on this monitor.

This being a gaming monitor it's colour reproduction, contrast, and other specs won't be as good as what you are currently using. I assume you want to switch between a work and gaming monitor based on what you're doing?

      • Yes, that's right. I just need a second monitor for office works (word, spreadsheets) and occasional gaming during this lockdown. Given this covers 98% of DCI-P3, I guess this might be a good start for video editing if I can assign correct icc profile to it.

But in a colour managed environment like Lightroom or Photoshop, I wonder how the program will display colour on monitors with different icc profiles. I mean if I drag the window to another monitor, will there be colour shifting? No one talks about it at dpreview, MacRumors or Reddit, maybe it is a bad idea to mix them up and no one is doing it.

        • +1

It's not going to change the colours of the file if that's what you're worried about, they are tied to the file and colour profile and not the monitor. I am pretty sure your monitor (not the software) will display what the closest translation is. It's not going to change the colours by dragging to one monitor and back, it's just different monitors will display them slightly differently.

Again I will say I can't speak with absolute certainty and don't want to give you bad information, but right now I'm typing on a beautiful Apple IPS monitor and have a much older, uglier Samsung gaming TN panel next to it. Vastly different monitors, and when I drag files between each monitor, it obviously looks much better on the Apple, but the file doesn't alter. Now I'm too lazy to look it up because I can't remember the model names for my monitors but I assume the monitors use different colour profiles as well, beyond vastly different panels (TN vs IPS etc). Though I'm not sure exactly when Apple started using P3 over sRBG.

          • @flooressence: I guess I will need to remember to assign a sRGB profile to the photos when exporting. Otherwise, they will look oversaturated.

Ordered one, I will see how it goes. Cheers, mate.

    Quick unboxing video in Japanese

    https://youtu.be/_7vqa8UKCxI

  • Accidentally bought 2. Thanks op

    • wished I can do this too… LOL

  • +1

Something seems off, Im really suprised it hasnt gone out of stock yet

    • +1

Well Dell make the monitor and it's a new model so they can just keep making more and more. As long as $535 is not below their cost price (I'm sure it's not) then I don't see why they wouldn't just keep taking orders.

  • How do you guys know it's the same panel as the 27GL850? Massive fan of Dell monitors (own two ultrasharps) so pretty tempting to pull the trigger

Edit just saw a previous post with a Eurogamer link purchased! Thanks OP!

  • Can anyone please confirm if it comes with HDMI and/or DisplayPort cables?

If I need to get it myself, which one (HDMI/DisplayPort) is better for gaming connectivity?

    • +1

      Yes it comes with both

      Cables Included:
      1. Power Cable | 2. HDMI Cable | 3. DP Cable | 4. USB Cable

Definitely use DP cable if you want 144/165Hz

      • Hi,
If my laptop doesnt have Dp port but has hdmi 2.0 port, so it can be able to 144hz ?
        Im nub to this :((

  • Hi !
If my laptop doesnt have Dp port but has hdmi 2.0 port, so it can be able to 144hz with hdmi 2.0 cable ???
    Im nub to this :((

    • +1

If your laptop can actually run stuff at 2k 144hz then sure, I guess.

      • Yes its 1660ti i7 9750, but the thing is i scared it cant be 144hz when i connect this monitor to my laptop bc one of my friend said maximum is 60hz

        • 1660ti won't run 1440p 144hz without using very low settings (even then only a possibly).
Without DP it won't run 144hz anyway.

  • Thanks OP. Bought two. Cashrewards tracked for $29.16 which is a nice bonus.

  • Damn, just bought the Viewsonic VX2758-2KP-MHD couple of days ago for $470 from centrecom. Is it worth adding one of these next to it? Wish i could return it

    • What's wrong with it? Is it vastly inferior than the Dell?

  • +1

Has anyone not received an order conformation? I'm worried that my order might be cancelled.

    • +1

Mine was confirmed 6 minutes after the order went through fyi.

    • +1

      Yep got mine almost immediately

  • I think i'll wait for the flood of reviews Ozbargain community will deliver after this sale.

    • There may very well be a floor of disappointment instead if this is a pricing error!

  • I have the lg version of this monitor, guess now i have the dell also lol.

    • Same here haha, couldn't resist and this Dell actually has better specs.

      • dual 1440p monitors :D dont actually know what im going to do with two monitors lol

  • I got an email from dell asking to: "reply from your business OR student email to complete verification process". Anyone else got this?

    • Haven’t seen that email. What state is your order in? Do you have an order number yet?

      • Yeah. I have got an order number. It says pending financial verification. I have replied with my work email. But strange why I am the only one who got this.
