Seagate 20tb desktop external hard drive can be purchased at JB Hi Fi for $559.00 by following the below steps:

  1. Use JB HIFI price beat function to match/beat Bing Lee's price of $589.00. JB should match it at $589.00.

  2. Apply $30 JBHIFI perks voucher (valid until 14th July 2025) for a final price of $559.00

The final price equates to a $/tb ratio of $27.95/TB - not the lowest but semi acceptable considering the current high HDD prices. This deal also gets you local warranty, vs. purchasing HDD's from Amazon UK/USA/Japan, B&H Video and risking transit damage etc.

Hope this helps someone.

  • Someone please sanity check me as I'm sure others will wonder as well.

6yrs + ago, I bought the 3x10TB version of this locally and shucked them for unRAID because under Australian law, warranty would still apply because it's just a plastic case and it's till being used as it's intended purpose (storage).
Would this still be the case? (Pun not intended)

Nah, the intended purpose is to be used as an external HDD, inside its box and data transfer through their USB cable.
Once you shuck it, warranty is gone.
But I still shuck it because it only comes with 1 year warranty anyway. Doesn't help much.

      • Just shuck it after 1 year then

Good deal. $259 USD at the moment.

What do you do about the power cable? According to this review they throw in all the international plugs. Was this the case for you?

Yea it comes with a bag with like 5 different types, just plug in the Aussie one and you are away. Currently backing up at about 170mb/sec sustained over USB3, so not EXOS in disguise like the older ones.

If you plan to use it like i do and just back up and put it in the cupboard baracudda will be fine. If you want to shuck them for 24/7 NAS then other more expensive options are probably worth it.
