You have just missed it. There was a recent digiDIRECT post here where a commenter said he combined price match at Sony, ShopBack 7%, Sony and Amex rebates to get it for under $1900. Both Sony and ShopBack 7% rebates ended this week.

I've owned this lens since 2015 and its pretty sharp but not fast enough coming from using f/1.4 primes. If I had a choice again, i'd save up for the g-master instead. But the lens is pretty sharp and has pretty smooth bokeh if that's what you're after.
I've got the 50mm 1.4 and it's great, but the size is a consideration too.
This looks nice and small. I'll be more likely to take this out.
Imo save the dosh for sel55 unless you specifically want a 35
