KN95 5-Ply Face Masks 10 Pack (TGA Approved, Made In Vietnam) - $19 + $7.90 Delivery @ Zebra

7240

Hello OzBargain community.

Two days ago someone made a strange decision to post about our company on this website. It caused quite a shocking surprise to us this morning when we saw the amount of orders received! We are now working around the clock to fulfil those orders.

As a follow-up, we thought the OzBargain community would be interested to check out our newly arrived stock. This face mask is also TGA certified and Made In Vietnam, as we believe it is important to provide quality-assured PPE for our customers. Please be aware that the market is prevalent with counterfeit and uncertified masks made with subpar material, especially on Ebay.

The efficiency of KN95 is equivalent to N95 (USA standard) which contains 5 layers of filtration material (most others only have 4 layers). We have set our product at a very good price point considering its quality.

We hope we continue to be a favourite vendor amongst this community. Our prayers also go out to those in Victoria. Stay safe.

Thanks,

Tyler

I recently had to execute a charge back as part of an unrelated purchase/scam I experienced in February/March (don’t remember exact date).

Payment was with Westpac Debit card online (similar to this deal) and chargeback was successful.

          Also see here: https://www.consumer.vic.gov.au/products-and-services/refund…

          <Quote from above link:>
When you can ask for a chargeback

Consumers request chargebacks for many reasons. The most common are when:

-they pay for products or services with a debit or credit card and:
-the products or services received are not as described
-they do not receive the products or services at all or within the agreed timeframe
-there are duplicate or fraudulent transactions
          charges are made without permission
          unrecognised transactions appear

          • @ahara:

Payment was with Westpac Debit card online (similar to this deal) and chargeback was successful.

Yes because your payment was processed as a credit transaction which meant you were able to do a charge back.

As I said you can only do a charge back on a debit card if the transaction is processed as a credit transaction.

Just because you use a debit card does not mean that you can do a charge back.

If it is processed as a debit transaction it is not possible to do a charge back because it is not processed through Visa / MasterCard etc. and it is the credit card networks that allow you to do a charge back.

            <Quote from above link:>

Is irrelevant to what I said.

            • @spaceflight: I am not sure why you are arguing that it MUST be a credit card when even consumer VIC website clearly states that chargebacks can be requested with bank when payment has been with a Credit OR Debit card.

How is that Irrelevant?? - it’s not possible to perform EFT transactions online .

When I did my transaction with my debit card payment was taken immediately from bank account (thus debit) and I was still able to claim chargeback

Ps: I didn’t neg you just FYI
              Have a good night

              • +1

                @ahara:

I am not sure why you are arguing that it MUST be a credit card

                I have never said that.

                I even said

You can only do a charge back on a debit card if

Not sure where you are reading that I said it MUST be a credit card

even consumer VIC website clearly states that chargebacks can be requested with bank when payment has been with a Credit OR Debit card.

I know. To continue what I said.

the transaction is processed as a credit transaction.

Nowhere have I said it needs to be a credit card

When I did my transaction with my debit card payment was taken immediately from bank account (thus debit)

That's not what it means to be processed as a debit transaction

and I was still able to claim chargeback

You were able to claim it because it was processed as a credit transaction through a credit network processor

                • @spaceflight: Hey, you seen to know your stuff. If I have a Visa debit card, is there any way for me to ensure that my purchase is processed as a credit transaction?

Tyler - Can you add paypal as a payment method?

Long term lurker, first time poster here.

I was disappointed to see these masks on Ozbargain as they do not comply with the Australian Standard AS/NZS 1716:2012 or the international equivalent. The “vents” on the front are actually holes of about 1-2mm which you can see through.

They are very poor quality and likely will not provide the protection you are looking for. In my opinion you would be better off with almost anything else besides this type of mask.

  • +8

These looks like all the other fake masks on Alibaba, id stay clear if you want legitimate P2/N95 masks. Dont take the risk and expose yourself and family

    • Focus more on the money, than the mask.

      Scrutinise the money.

    • true fact.

  • +10

I've ordered 4ply masks from earlier post.
Received an email order confirmation from [email protected], instead of their [email protected].
People who have ordered tried to contact but no response from the business.

    Website registered last month only,
Company registered with ASIC in Mid April from a postcode 2076 Normanhurst/Wahroonga
The business operations in Randwick, as OP stated their main warehouse is located in Minto.

All this information doesnt convince me or add up, i.e.., Zebra industries is a legit business/seller.

Will have to wait and see if we get these masks delivered or we got scammed by longtime ozbargain user who is trying to make easy money given the pandemic situation.

    • I think you'll get the products but i have doubt about whether the products actually meet proper specifications.

  • It’s much much cheaper than bunnings was selling $15 a P2 mask back in March.
And you can reuse this kind of masks if you know how.

    • +1

Bunnings were selling legit 3M Cool Flow NIOSH approved N95/P2 respirator 5 packs for $30 in February, still have 2 boxes and a 10 pack of Master P2, ive only used 1 mask so far and used it daily for a month during lockdown in March/April, sanitized daily via UV

  • +1

Thought KN95 is Chinese standard. But made in vietnam?

    Doesnt make sense.

    • I know its hard to think that many Chinese companies operate in Vietnam to bypass US/China Trade War to get in !

    • How about if they put P2 (or DS2)?

    • +7

      Doesnt make sense.

      Why doesn't it make sense?

Why does a Chinese standard mask need to be made in China?

All of you electronic devices comply to Australian standards, plumbing equipment to Australian standards, gas appliances to Australian standards.
How many of those are made in Australia?

    • N95 is American standard regulated by CDC, but most N95 is produced in China, so I reckon a made in Vietnam KN95 is not an issue.

  • +3

This deal looks as shady as hell, avoid !

  • +6

Gov should provide free mask for at least to the most vulnerable citizens.

This will definite deters any sellers trying to make a living on health essentials during this pandemic times.

    • +1

…agreed. still waiting on our government to deliver these millions of masks to vulnerable and needy victorians…despite dans reassurances i havent seen anything in regards to this

    • +1

Can't agree more. I know some countries offer free masks to every resident.

  • +4

This deal looks as shady as hell, avoid !

    • Done

  • +3

after searching the ARTG number from the product web page, the TGA public summary says this is a 4 layer single use mask, but the website says its 5 layer? Also there is no mention of meeting KN95 standard as well. I would think twice before making a purchase.

  • +3

Op, if you claim your products are TGA approved, post the ARTG number.

  • ugh this mask, I paid 50 dollars for a pack of 10 at the mobil petrol station in albury while I was travelling to melbourne in the weekend, I knew it was overpriced but I didn't know the situation, didn't wanna cop a fine.

  • +7

T&C of this website are a copy of this https://www.hicraftsafety.com.au/terms-and-conditions
Forgot to change the address though as it still references 35 Mangrove Lane, Taren Point NSW 2229 where Hicraft safety is located.

Wonder if it is ex staff.

    • At the bottom of that page it even says

      • Thats where you put your email to subscribe.

        • Your right, the page must not have loaded correctly before because it was text not a field that could be filled in

    • +3

T&C have been changed now. OP is obviously reading these comments. Staff must be working late as it is 11:38pm

  • +4

Questioning the quality and the dealer based on all the information others have dug up.

I think its just someone else trying to capitalise on the situation.

Mods need to find a better way or just outright ban mask deals.

  • +3

Taking advantage of the pandemic to rip people off it seems, gonna be a neg from me. ARTG number does not match product.

  • +3

Definitely a neg from me based on the previous 'investigations' by SnakeDoc and ahara.

  • +5

    Too many inconsistencies.

Could be someone who bought heaps of masks earlier when pandemic started from cheap suppliers, hoarded them and is now trying to palm them off again for profit.

  • +3

Annoyingly, I ordered some soon after the deal was posted.

Very disappointing about everything that has come forward since. I was originally willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, but too much has come out.

I've requested that the order will be cancelled.

    • Let us know how you go. I think whether they cancel will be a very telling sign.

      • +1

Definitely. I will be reporting every step of the way.

If they don't cancel, then I will also be reporting on the quality of the masks and comparing them to similar N95 masks that I have that are legit

        • +1

          Order has been cancelled :)

  • +4

    Thanks guys. I'll give it a miss…

  • +1

The order email received, indeed as mentioned above includes this email with text verbatim:

"If you have any questions, reply to this email or contact us at [email protected]"

However, no response to enquiries made.

  • -2

I just bought some P2 aussie made masks, $2.20 each.
    https://www.aussiepharmadirect.com.au/collections/p2-ffp2-na…

  • The efficiency of KN95 is equivalent to N95 (USA standard) which contains 5 layers of filtration material (most others only have 4 layers)

It doesn't matter if the mask has 4, 5 or 1 layer.
It matters it meets KN95, N95, P2 etc standards. If it does the number of layers is irrelevant.

  • +2

all the facts dugged up make this business seem super sus.. what if this whole thing was set up to bait ozbargainers ?!

btw why is there no information about shipping on that website? how long will it take? where is it shipped from? isn't that like the basics of ecommerce - to inform customers of delivery/shipping lol

  • Just got text and email that my item is being shipped on previous deal of 40 masks 4ply masks.

    • -4

did you enjoy your 4 month commenting hiatus on ozb?

not as bad as the "bEeN bUlK oRdERiNg fOr a fEw WeEkS" OP of the previous deal from zebra who didn't comment nor post for a solid 1.5 years

      • +1

Did I enjoy it? Lol huh what do I have some duty to comment everyday? … I comment when it's relevant where it seems to be on this topic. Not sure what you are upset about .. I've simply stated that I've got a txt and email saying my items being shipped. I haven't received the items, simple.

        • -2

soz man, was just sussing ppl out

          I guess you're all clear

      • +1

He's not lying, I have the same email shipment confirmation for my order.

I have tracking and its "Awaiting the parcel at the drop off location."

        • Yep exact same thing I got ..

    • +1

Same. Will provide update on the pack of 40x 4ply surgical masks when I’ve received them.

And I will eat one of them if they match what was promised. I’m a man of my word

      • Video as promised created and link provided in other thread for 40x 4-ply order.

Each can draw their own conclusions hopefully.

hmmm…both black and white mammals. Definitely a connection

  • +7

OP is reading these comments but not replying to anyone. The T&C were the same as another website and less than 2 hours after we commented on it, the T&C's have been changed.

    • +1

…smart enough to know when to shut up and not dig themselves into a hole.

  • +2

People are losing jobs and you want them to pay around $2.5 per mask? and that too one time use?

    lol

    • +2

      2020…the year of pandemic profiteering

      • +2

Ozbargain should introduce a new category for complaints along the lines of price gouging\profiteering just so scum like this can be reported. The government should also penalise profiteers…mind you, it has gone on for millennia during every crisis…hard to legislate to control human greed…just the way of the world (as so aptly put by the MaxQ song)

  • +1

These masks do not appear to have a metal piece to go across your nose.

These identical looking ones show the metal

    https://n95maskco.com/collections/most-popular-products/prod…

  • +2

Yeah this post is sus as, Ozbargainers have done a good job digging into this 'company'. Need to comment in order to neg the post :/

  • +2

    Strewth sleuths are active.

I have no issue with this deal, but based on what has been posted it does seem suss.

  • +2

Said TGA approved, but where's the proof? So what made you different than dodgy ebay sellers you claim you're not?

  • +2

Seems so dodgy. Lots of procurement people are sourcing trash masks from China with a 1000% markup

    • +1

…you buy mask! very good! very cheap! /s

  • +3

….this is what every face mask deal looks like now and will do for the forseeable future until mods start vetting and pre-approving these deals before they are published….
this is only going to get worse.

  • +3

Not worth the risk as Snakedoc has pointed out. Deals like these need to be removed.

    • +1

for some reason mods can take down a 'Joke Post' almost immediately yet dodgy stuff like this sticks around for hours and hours and only when reported multiple times with multiple negs do they seem to do something about it…? whats going on…?

      • Joke posts are easy to spot. This is a complicated issue and needs investigation. We won't be bullied into removing things until we have completed our investigation. Use the report button or TWAM if you have more information.

        Official Moderation Response:

Purchase with caution, as per comments, some users have questioned the validity of website claims, including the TGA approval. Whilst the store meets our guidelines for sufficient business details (ABN, contact details etc.), moderators cannot verify the validity of such information, nor give any guarantee over the validity of any business or its products. See comments regarding this. We will continue to monitor the situation. Users have reported in the last deal that their orders are starting to be shipped.

        • ….thanks neil. have you guys considered any alternative methods to the ones currently in place for publishing face mask deals…?
perhaps a list of requirements that need to be met? a separate section to the site? perhaps vetting the deals prior to them being published?

….its just that with the volume of face mask deals & the ease in which they can be submitted users are finding it very difficult to navigate what is a legitimate 'deal' from a reputable supplier or seller and what is not

  • +3

    Looks like a scam…

  • +2

requested cancellation of the previous deal but no response. Will be seeking charge back from credit card.

    • +1

To be fair the other post was just over the weekend. If you ordered you need to give him a chance to fulfill.

Chargeback is a bit unfair considering seller has had limited time to meet your order.

      • +1

the OP is being dishonest in the website blurb and interactions here so not unfair at all

        • Fair enough.

But chargeback causes unnecessary costs to business so maybe try to give him some time to resolve via normal refund process.

Bank will prob ask for that first before progressing chargeback application.

          • @ahara: yep emailed requesting cancellation and received SMS response saying payment has been refunded so will wait for that to go through.

  • +5

Definitely looks like a scam as REP has gone MIA.
Even if it's not a scam, expect to wait a long time for delivery. REP said in the OP that they were working around the clock to fulfill previous orders. And then goes out to the Ozbargain community to secure even more orders. Clearly not interested in shipping quickly to new customers.

    • +2

working around the clock = Rep too 'busy' to reply to legitimate questions & concerns over the product and business details

    • +2

I received a Sendle notification for the order for 40x 4ply surgical grade masks.

I thus (myself) have to respectfully wait to have this delivered before having a case to raise any chargeback

      • +1

Post a photo of your masks when you receive them. Curious to know which brand they are.

        • +7

I will cut one open and post pictures.
And then will eat it if it matches what was promised :)

  • +5

Zebra is Australia's top supplier of industrial workwear and equipment.

    Bu(($h!+

If you're not going to help us, at least don't try to profiteer from the pandemic.

  • +2

Any details for bfe, pfe and vfe? Also I believe a standard N95 should have straps over head to maximise the sealing.
Seriously, I do not recommend people to buy it.

  • +4

Agree with others that this business hasn't provided enough info on their legitimacy. I'm getting pretty sick of mask "deals"

  • +3

Please provide a TGA ARTG ID otherwise remove the "TGA approved" claim.

    • it's listed on the product webpage but that artg says 4 layer mask, not 5 as per the product

  • +3

Sounds like tapping into Ozb community to spam sell some masks. What is really bad is trying to make it seem like they are reputable sellers when they are definitely not!

  • +2

I asked OP some question previously and he didn't answer too. Good thing I didn't get any mask from the previous deal.

Good work everyone for surfacing these info. Buyer beware!

  • Always wingers and complainers, don’t like it don’t buy it, no point being a 10 year old brat and keep nagging about it, no body cares about you.

    • Is that you, OP?

  • I'm not sure if it's worth noting but when I went to see my GP yesterday she (and some of the other doctors I saw walking about) were wearing the standard blue surgical masks. I'm wondering whether these will suffice over the more expensive KN95 masks?

    • +13

I work in a critical care unit and I can give you the following advice

      1. As someone has previously stated - this mask has side ear loops. N95 masks need to "fit tested" to ensure they are properly fitted. Its a ten minute process where you are made to wear the mask and breath, cough, move your head around, sit/stand/squat - etc. Things you are likely to do in a room with a patient. I have never seen a mask with side ear loops pass a mask fit - they just don't fit like a standard N95 mask with two loops that go over your head (like this one https://www.livescience.com/respirators-prevent-coronavirus-…). The material may be KN95 certified - but the mask itself may never pass fit testing

      2. A normal surgical mask would be fine - their main objective is to stop the outflow of respiratory droplets if you cough/sneeze/breath. We need to wear fitted N95 masks at work because our patients are confirmed COVID and they are shedding virus and (obviously) we aren't able to socially distant. When you are on your way to work - really anything covering your face (a normal mask) ALONG WITH social distancing should be enough to keep you safe.

Don't mean to ramble on but that's my understanding of the topic

      • +6

Mate, just thank you very much for dealing with this by being on the frontline. People like you voluntarily get into danger to help those who are infected. Has anyone told you today that you are a f**$G hero?! Because you are.
