Game has drastically changed since it's infamous 2016 launch, definitely worth giving a shot and has a solid playbase in Australia!
Sorry I won't be rewarding Capcom's poor sell it unfinished and patch it over 4 years strategy. Maybe when 6 comes and they don't effectively sell an early access game as a complete package then I might go back to the series.

Not to mention they release the game with stuff all characters and then charge through the nose to add the rest in. Companies who abuse DLC like this are ruining gaming. At least companies like Rockstar release DLC that is a legitimate game expansion and worth the extra money.
Why are people complaining about games updates? There more more than 10 iterations of Street Fighter 2 on the arcade. We had to wait more than 3 years from Street Fighter 2 to Street Fighter 2 Championship Edition.
The complaints weren't about the updates, they released a game that wouldn't have passed beta as a full release in order to make that years' Evo comp.
they should just delete this one and go back to SFIV

They didn't split the player base with a separate edition on major updates this time, which is an improvement on the usual from capcom.

There's a Street Fighter event of some kind starting at 10am PDT, which is apparently 3am here. So my guess is it's free from then.
Same for me, I just logged in and searched it on steam and it's full price and no mention of a free trial.

This is active now, looks like its not champion edition but that doesn’t bother me I’ll just give SFV a crack.

Thanks OP! Latest Version SF I’ve played is On Dreamcast, I’ve not played any of the newer ones. Regularly play original sf2 tho.
Confirming that I got the game free (You win!). I'm unsure if it's a free period or free-to-keep (anyone know?) but it's still a nice addition.
