Do they have one with Australian power connectors?

  • Is this going to blow up my phone?

    • it's possible…

    • possibly but it depends on the voltage thing and your phone. i dont know how to read those though. ive bought 2 similar products before and they both blew up, the charger not the phone

I had already a few of exactly these ones, I usually buy some cheap when in Asia. They are definitely the cheapest (and AU$ 0.99 is also cheap, even compared to their price in Asia) but you get what you pay for: half of all I've ever bought were faulty and didn't charge at all. It's a hit and miss with this model. Having said that, for this price I'd recommend simply buying two of them, just in case. Even if one isn't working, $2 is still cheap.
And if they're both working: consider playing lottery - obviously you're one lucky fella. ;)

        oh, I didn't seen that :(

Then it all comes down to if you like to gamble, I guess :)

  • Its for travel, so guess its mainly for travel to US/Japan

    Just a word of caution:

A shoddy power source will freak up your expensive device more thoroughly than most things with the added possibility of fire!
Personally I stick with the brands for these things. When it comes to anything that plugs into 240v or USB, a known brand with Aussie C tick is always the go.

I think you're suffering from premature coupon utilisation. I recommend a good doctor. ;)

  • Nice will buy 1 of these tonight. Heading to Japan soon and was actually looking for a charger to use over there. Saves having to buy the ridiculously expensive apple travel adapters.

Maybe it should have a comment that it's not for Australian sockets.

    • Now it does says Travel charger, which other part of the world uses AU socket?
Not a valid reason for negging.

      • +2

Parts of China use AU plug, but upside down.

True story: my mother asked if she'd need an adapter to the upside down socket…

        • You should say: no, but you need to turn your head upside down to plug it in. :)

        • Parts of South America as well. New zealand does as well.

  • I've had one of these universal chargers blow up on me before. Well not blow up literally — it tripped the circuit breaker when it turned it on.

    Avoid at all costs.

    • This actual one from Meritline? Or do you mean a 240V>USB adapter in general?

      • Very similar looking product from eBay. Cost me around $6 USD which came in a pack of other Huawei Sonic accessories.

  • Useless in Australia without buying an adapter.
(You can also get these cheaper on eBay bidding)

  • Have one at home. trashy and makes a high pitched noise

    • Stop using it and chuck it!
Too much unmanaged power or a crossed wire/circuit does that and when it goes, these cheap ones have a higher chance of starting a fire. I've seen it so many times.

yup stopped using it ages ago. it's sitting in a box somewhere

Are you sure that is not your wife you are talking about?

  • Not a bargain, as it is useless in Australia, and can be had cheaper easily. Main benefit is that it wont burn your house down…. just a hotel whilst travelling os, that is no doubt lacking a suitable fire escape and sprinkler system leaving you toasted.

Just because something is 99c does not a bargain make.

these things are rated for 110 -240 volts.

you just need to bend the pins slightly so they fit in oz sockets.

    • Let me guess, you are the kid who wanted to stick the knife in the toaster yes?

      • Good thing he dodged.

      • which part of "rated for 110 -240 volts" don't you get?

  • I have one of these - they don't have enough power to charge an iphone 4 and certainly not an ipad.
