    Crazy cheap for 32gb

Fantastic if you need that 32GB and don't mind taking the minor performance hit (compared to what most people who spend around this amount on RAM are getting: 16GB as 2 x 8GB, with faster speeds like 4000mz CL18, or 3600mhz CL16, etc.

This is considered a low quality brand (I dunno how much that matters for RAM though).

For most gamers 16GB will be more than enough for a few years yet though. Currently only a tiny portion of games get a significant performance increase from having 12GB (instead of 8GB) so 16GB is still more than enough:

32GB kit at these speed will be crazy expensive, while the performance improvement is pretty negligible

Unless you're planning on overclocking, I would say it doesn't matter too much. Definitely avoid no-name brands, but Team Group is pretty decent.

I have the dark za ram 3600mhz I got it to oc to 4000mhz with out adjusting the voltage . I ended up lowering the timings from CL18 to CL16 it's the same timing as above while sticking to 3600mhz. Could push it more but I got over resetting the bios. Not sure how this ram is cheaper in quality when you won't find Samsung b die for this price?

@aussieprepper: I've got the same ram, runs fine at 4000 as well. Haven't tried dialling down the timing yet but it's on the todo list!

            • @mauricem: I ran the memory test on Aida64 and got a better score with the lower timing Vs the higher frequency. I didn't play with the timings much at 4000mhz. It seems like good ram.

  • dont need it but this is tempting…

  • Good RAM but if you have bad luck it may ship really slowly. Has anyone ever had anything ship via DPD on Amazon? I have never heard of that courier company and I haven't gotten a tracking update in 8 days.

    • DPD is a European courier.

I had 1 recent experience with them and they somehow damaged a package with a MicroSD and it got sent back to Amazon after a while.

Pray that you get DHL, UPS or Fedex when you buy from Amazon US.

      • How long did their shipping take to Australia? I am in this unfortunate situation of having something coming from US via DPD.

        • It was damaged in transit and was turned back before reaching Australia

    • I've had them deliver my 2TB nvme drive. Ordered on 8th of July, received on 4th of August. There was a minor shipping delay of a week in there but still took about 2-3 weeks to arrive from DPD. Didn't have proper tracking, got a notification about 6 hours after it was delivered to my door saying it was delivered. Amazon normally give a notification instantly.

      Seller looks suss

      • Definitely sus, just registered seller. Amazon is full of them lately.

How does this compare to this one? I got the 3200MHz… Are they basically the same, except these ones are taller? Will OCing get mine faster? Will OCing make any discernible differences? (My other parts are pretty high end so it's already buttery smooth).

At least mine is shipping right now… I purchased 21 Jul, eta 15th Aug.

    • From what i have read and i am no expert. If you are using Ryzen especially the newer generation like me i have a 3600 the faster the ram speed the better FPS you will get while gaming. I think price to performance wise 3600mhz work out the best for 3rd gen Ryzen At least for the mid-range CPUs.

Watch this it compares a few different ram speeds.

      • I've got Ryzen 3500x… I'm probably not gonna do any more work on OCing etc though. 5fps at >100fps isn't going to make a huge difference for the games I play

    • What courier is yours shipping with?

    • Hope you have an intel system? If Ryzen you want to make sure you get the AMD Za option or your chance of overclocking will be greatly reduced.

      • Nah I got the Ryzen 3500x :(

I'm probably okay with not OCing too hard though, 5 fps at >100 fps isn't gonna make a huge difference with the games I play

    • I received it today!

  • Anyone know how to check if it would be compatible with the i7 PC from this May 2019 TechFast deal? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/457061

Google search was not my friend on this one.

    I bought the i7 8700 RTX 2080 8GB (Galax) 240GB SSD 16GB RAM model which came with a Biostar 360MHD Pro 2 motherboard.

Desktop DDR4 RAM is desktop DDR4 RAM, there's no real question of compatibility (unless the PC is several years old or a laptop).

But you do need to look at the specs of the old RAM vs the new or you might be downgrading to slower RAM.

And you need to be sure that 32GB will give you some benefit over having 16GB (E.g.: it will make zero difference for gaming. Currently no games benefit from having more than 16GB of RAM, at all. Most likely no games will for at least 3 years or so. And significant slowdown in most games is probably closer to 10 years away).

        Thanks Agro, appreciated.

        • You should always check the Qualified Vendor List (QVL) for your specific motherboard to make sure that you're buying RAM that has been tested and verified to work with your specific motherboard as per the specs on the box. It only takes two minutes to search "motherboard model QVL", and can avoid an expensive mistake. This RAM is not listed on the QVL for the motherboard I linked below, but there are some other Team models that have been tested.

          https://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en/mb/introduction.php?S_ID=9…

I'm not suggesting that it won't work (because it probably will), but if you want a tested / verified guarantee that the RAM you're buying will work as advertised out of the box then you should go with something on the QVL.

          • @Mong: Thanks Mong.

Yeah, I checked the QVL for this motherboard a few times when 32gb ram deals came up on OzB, but the QVL didn't shed much light on supporting the typical OzB combinations of 16GB sticks @ 3200MHz+. Eg. the only two 16gb sticks listed are 2133MHz. I guess I got a bit confused and gave up looking at it, assuming it was now just out of date :P

            • @jimmyl: They're definitely out of date mate, and in this case Biostar don't seem to have tested many modules. Not much you can do about that. It's really just peace of mind and good practice for everyone. I only made the comment here because it's a bit trickier with the US-import from Amazon if you need to send it back. Fingers crossed that it goes well if you ordered, it should be fine.
