Couldn't disagree more.. there's been PLENTY of delivery incentives going round the last couple months, and as mentioned above, unless you're in VIC, 10,000 steps and wanting to take-away or dine in is not unreasonable.

Could just as easily say this incentivises people to keep healthy by exercising more at home & get out of home in allowed outdoor exercise time. Not that hard to do 5k steps in lockdown. Am pretty lazy & I've done it.

For me, just walking & catching public transport to supermarkets usually clocks up 10k steps on the Fitbit by dinner time in normal times.

It's a healthy idea! Keeps people motivated.

Note: Only intended for 1 day of exercise per member. (Limited to one voucher per Relish member. Single use.)

    • +2

Residents should follow the rules. If the rules state that they can exercise and buy food then that is great.

Mental health resources - coronavirus (COVID-19)

It's important to look after your mental health during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Tips for staying calm and healthy

For your mental wellbeing, there are a number of things you can do:

      • Maintain a healthy diet, exercise and sleep regime.

      walking is the simplest exercise

      • And walking is one of cheapest, as long as you don't break the rules.

But Deal does discriminate against some disabled - in wheelchairs!♿

        • +1

I just tried pretending to spin wheels with my arms while seated and my fitbit counted it as steps 💪

      • +1

Despite what they write on the bag, Grill'd is not a key part of a healthy diet

If they actually gave a shit about people, they'd be encouraging not resorting to comfort food. They give a shit about how their sales have tanked though.

        • all pre/prepared meals could be considered not a key part of a healthy diet

grill'd burgers are healthier than others on a weight basis

          • +2

@tonester: Healthier than others doesn’t make them healthy.

            • @bennybaubles: sure, but how are they not healthy - or alternatively, what makes them bad for your health?

              • @tonester: Things like high cholesterol, weight gain, salt leading to high blood pressure. In the choice article you sent they said all of the gourmet burgers tested had more kilojoules than a Big Mac and 2 thirds had more fat than a Big Mac. I wouldn’t call that healthy but grill’d do.

                • @bennybaubles: perhaps in terms of serving size, but not on a unit weight basis

grill'd burgers are healthier than others on a weight basis
                  https://www.choice.com.au/food-and-drink/eating-out/fast-foo…

The reason for this is pretty simple. The gourmet burgers are bigger

                  • @tonester: I’m confused, so you’re looking at just the unit weight and nothing else? The gourmet burgers are bigger and therefore have more fat and salt.

                    • @bennybaubles: one should compare like with like to be fair, and so whether financial or nutritional value, that means on a weight basis, to take into account different serving sizes

                      • @tonester: I guess we’ll have to disagree on whether grill’d is healthy or not. I’ll leave you with one last example from choice.
“ The Mighty (low-carb bun) manages to fit 19.9g of fat in a single burger (a Big Mac has 11.3g).”

                        • @bennybaubles: as partially quoted earlier above:

The reason for this is pretty simple. The gourmet burgers are bigger (385g for The Mighty and a whopping 515g for The Okker, compared with Big Mac's 216g).

so on a weight basis, The Mighty is 5.17% fat, whereas a Big Mac is 5.23%, hence The Mighty is healthier

of course, you have chosen the Grill'd burger listed with the highest fat content, which means that their others are likely to be even more healthy :)

                          • @tonester: The Mighty is advertised as a healthy burger which it clearly isn’t but you seem to think it is. I’m not going to continue debating on the topic I’ve got better things to do with my time.

What’s that comment, ah yes, you can’t please them all.

If the state doesn’t want people getting take away food, ban it. If the state doesn’t want people to exercise, ban that too.

The fact is, there is very little evidence exercise or getting take aaay food is transmitting covid.

It mostly comes from sick people attending work whilst sick and people testing positive and not isolating

      • "It mostly comes from sick people attending work whilst sick and people testing positive and not isolating"

Forcing people to go into a store to get this deal potentially puts the customer into contact with others who may be sick.

        • +2

Please, no one is forced to do anything.

          • @cloudy: They are forcing the person if they want to avail this deal.

It definitely doesn't lessen the risk of spread, it can only add to it.

            • @arcticmonkey:

It definitely doesn't lessen the risk of spread, it can only add to it.

yes, i agree, but you can say that about nearly all normal course of business.

The point is, such low risk activities, should be allowed to continue or else you continue to kill livelihoods with little promise of saving lives.

livelihoods can costs lives too, it just doesn't show on the newpaper headlines as clearly.

Cheapest burger seems to be the Simply Grill'd at $10.90 (varies by location).

So the cheapest we could get a burger using this offer is $0.90? Is there any chance we can get a burger free, i.e. RRP $10.00? Couldn't find any.

  • 10k steps is a bit ridiculous. You would need to go about 7kms before you can claim this offer. A person working 9 to 5 would only be able to make up for these steps after work if they were living a sedentary lifestyle. I take the public transport and usually walk around during lunchtimes and I still can't make it to 10000 steps.

    • +8

That's really surprising to hear. I don't think 10k is ridiculous at all, given it's the recommended daily step count known for quite some time now.

Back when I was working in the city, I'd also take public transport and try to sneak in a lunch time walk, or after work walk and I'd easily clock about 10k+ a day.

    • +1

      10K steps is nothing I average around 25K a day…

Maybe you should incorporate walking more in everyday activities.

Eg: Take the stairs, park farther away, walk 30 mins for exercise, etc.

      • Could just be my Mi Band 4, but I take the public transport, go to the gym during arvos and still clock in at 8000 steps by 5 PM. Guaranteed it doesn't take too long from there to get 10k, but I'm glad that on average people are getting to more than recommended!

  • thanks op got a burger for dinner
was going to trick the app, but by the time I got to Grill'd I had 6k+ steps anyway

  • +2

I fully make use of the allowed 1 hour exercise daily and get about 8k+ steps in the hour so 5k is definitely achievable. Will be getting a Grill'd burger next week!

    • +1

walk to a shop at the 5k radius then back = 10 :p

      • Can only go after work and normally include grocery shopping while I'm out so will need the car. But good suggestion!

  • -1

falsley healthy advertised burgers, underpaid staff, dodgy operations, lame marketing stunt to expose you to risks of covid19, don't buy from grilled guys. seedy af. only vegans/vegeterians come here cause they got nowhere else to go for their plant burger.

  • +1

Who cares about the calorie/fat factor? If you're a bloody adult, eat in moderation! Repeated arguing over "Oh they call it healthy but it's got 2500 calories" = facepalm. You know it's fast food. If you wanted it to be healthy, you'd make it yourself with a thin piece of meat and lettuce.. It's becoming like Whingepool…

shaking my phone as we speak lol

  • Tried to get a cheap burger, but Grill'd staff insisted I also show them the actual barcode for this deal, and not just the barcode for my Grilld Relish membership.

    So sad. :'-(

This deal should be marked as targeted.

    • +1

You are showing the wrong barcode, click on Relish and on the offer to show the barcode.

    • In the mobile app, after you login, there will be another barcode in the offers area.

      • Cheers.

I worked out the issue. When I first signed up to Relish, I had unticked the option for them to email me promos.

After I signed up with another email & phone number, I got the offer emailed to me, almost immediately.

  • +1

Worked fine at the Burwood store. She didn’t even ask to see the steps.

I got one for myself, and got my partner to send me a screenshot of her membership and promo code. 2 separate orders to get $20 in total. We both did hit 5k steps today.

  • Also a note that these are one time use.

  • +2

Garden City Brisbane didn't ask to prove it, though I did have 11k steps legitimately… :O

  • did the coupon can be re use or just one off ?

    • One off

    • The coupon is a one-off, but if you have additional mobile phone numbers then you can sign up some 'imaginary friends' to extra memberships & use 'their' coupons. ;-)

The Aldi $5 Sims with 365 day expiry are good high-yielding investments. ;-)

      • or Kogan 99c sims

        • $4.90 unless you have the 99c link?

          • @INFIDEL: now they are 4.90 but every now and then they do 99c.

  • Dang it. I thought the barcode was for everyday.

  • Used this today, they didn’t even ask to see the steps

    • Yep, they dont seem to care about steps as long as you have the promo barcode from app/ email

    • They asked to look at my step count when I redeemed it today.

  • Used today, $1.50 for a simply grilled burgher. Affordable, even for me..

    Hi folks,

Just jumping in to provide some clarity around this offer.

Stepping up your step count is good for your health and it’s great for the planet. We'd give you a high-five if we could (#rona), but instead we’re matching your 10,000 steps with $10 off your burger or salad until Thursday, August 13. VIC friends: walk 'round the block in your finest facemask and reach 5k to get $10 off your feed. More info, including the Ts and Cs, can be found here: www.grilld.com.au/news/latest/10k-steps

The offer is for new and existing Relish members, and can be found in the 'Relish' tab of the Grill'd app when signed in, or in the email address inbox you use for Relish (don't forget to check junk, spam and promotional folders in case your email server has done the dirty on us and markd it as spam). If any Relish members are having difficulty locating or claiming this offer, hit us up at www.grilld.com.au/feedback and our team will jump in to assist.

We are aiming to promote healthy living and encouraging our community to lead a more active lifestyle across Australia. We are rewarding those who get back out into nature and walk the daily recommended 10,000 steps (or 5,000 steps for those in VIC) to get their 100% natural, healthy burger with $10 off their burger from Saturday 8 August – Thursday 13 August.

We completely understand the current restrictions in VIC make it difficult for some to participate in the campaign. We don’t want anyone to miss out, so we have adjusted our recommendations to make it easier, and safer, for them to do so.

We are encouraging our VIC community to engage if they are comfortable to do so, and so long as they are able to participate in line with government guidelines. This means if you are in VIC and want to take part in the campaign, we ask you only do 5,000 steps. Get creative, do laps around the backyard Hills Hoist, sprints down the hallway or just pacing your living room while on that all office Zoom meeting.

We understand this is a very difficult time for our community, so we don’t want VIC or Melbourne to be excluded completely. Rather, we want to continue encouraging healthy behaviour over the coming weeks, and encourage our VIC family to participate safely, using common sense, and by following all government guidelines.

Thanks again for your feedback on this campaign – all feedback is valuable for us as we continue to adapt and look ahead to future campaigns.

    Stay awesome, and stay safe.

  • So sad this offer has ended. :-(

I still had 3 more burner phone numbers on which to create more accounts. ;-)

Still, it was great to have a nice, but cheap lunch, for 4 days.

Thanks very much for posting the deal, OP.
