Acer Iconia A500 Tablet (16GB) - $388 from WOW (Save $110)

140

I picked up the latest WOW catalogue and saw that they're selling the ACER A500 16gb tablet for $388 - seems like a good deal, especially since you can pick it up and not have to worry about P&H.

Details:

  • 16gb
  • Runs on Honeycomb
  • HDMI output
  • 5MP camera

More details can be found on the specs page here: https://shop.1wow.com.au/productcart/pc/ACER-ICONIA-TABLET-A…

To compare, HN and Bing Lee both have it for $499.

EDIT: Looks like there's a MUCH better deal from the Good Guys: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/55817

  • Saw a post on whirlpool that retravision is selling for 299.

    • If you can find the link I'll put it in the description so that people can look into it :)

    • Wow that's cheap… cheapest so far for brand new.

  • Now that I think about it, I wonder if OW would beat the price by 5%? If the Retravision price is genuine, that'd make it $285, otherwise the WOW price would make it $369.

I've never price-matched with OW so maybe someone could confirm?

  • Yeah OW will price match.. so long as there is a WOW in the area.

For those waiting for a tablet that runs Ice Cream Sandwich , Acer Poland has confirmed that the Iconia A100, A500 and A501 will receive an ICS update in January 2012.

    Hi,

    Selling for $381 with 2 year warranty…

    Look at this post…

    • But doesn't that price only apply if you can pick it up from Sydney? Otherwise you need to add P&H…

Isn't that the case with this deal too?

        • As far as I can tell, the store selling it at $381 is only based in Sydney, whereas there are plenty of WOW stores around…

Ah I see, thought this was only store. I'd still prefer to pay a few extra dollars for delivery and 1 year extra warranty.

There may be plenty of WOW stores in Queensland and a few in NSW, but there aren't any in SA, WA or Tas. I think that a lot of people will still have to pay postage from WOW.

        • Delivery from Online Computer is 11.40 to postcode 4000, so total 392.40. Worth one more year of warranty.

  • this is OW normal price after HN did a sale last month.

OW normal price seems to be $526 (at least when I search in the Brisbane area), though it's a moot point at the moment cos they seem to be showing no stock according to their website.

Update: I've called 5 Retravision stores and none of them had them. It seems they didn't even carry the stock, so it's not as if they were just sold out.

The only store that could even tell me what the price would be said that it would be about $470. So yeah, make what you will of all of that.

Of course, that doesn't mean that NO Retravision stores have them - it just seems that if you want one of these tabs, Retravision might not be the best place to get one from.

FWIW I tried getting a price match for the other deal (onlinecomputer) yesterday:

    • a Good Guys store said the best they could do was $399 for the normal 1 year warranty
    • a JB's store said their best price was $465, and they wouldn't price match online stores

This post should provide more ammunition/options, though at the end of the day if nobody's beating $388 I may just pay an additional $4.40 for the extra year's warranty.
