Woah, the prices really went up. I bought mine for $99 from JB Hi-Fi back in March. It's now $189 there.

price jacking is not a bargain…

Bought one many years ago for under $100 sold it secondhand on Gumtree in April/May for $350, crazy! This was the best webcam for a long time, lot of streamers still use it too, given the current situation $140 isn't too bad.

Any hard core ozbargainer would have either a C920 webcam, a G27 wheel or a Z623 speaker. (Or all 3, like me).

      • Got the c920. G25 wheel complete with shifter and logitech z-4 gaming pc speaker.

It won't suit everyone, but you can use your phone as a webcam with a free app like Iriun or DroidCam. The rear cameras on good phones are better than any decent webcam.

    • i am in ivcam, and not regretting a bit. $10 but its ok than paying jacked up price.

@eug - great tip mate, you just saved me like $200 with this !! thanks !! :)

  • And….it's gone…

Says there is 5 left but when you press buy it doesn't actually work.

To be honest, I am not really impressed with this webcam. Maybe I was expecting too much. To get a good picture you need a really well lit room and it seems to work better at 720p than 1080p. I would not pay $140 for it. I got it for $99 earlier this year and that was still too much in my opinion.

    • any recommendation for ~$100 webcam?

    • Webcam tech hasn't really progressed in the last 5 or so years. Even the best ones you can buy, pale in comparison to real cameras.

  • I have the C920 - Logitech G Hub was a life saver for me.

It allows you to zoom it in which then works in Teams

For anyone seeking alternatives, a phone is a good option. A bit fiddly, especially the mounting part, but the quality is very good, and you don't need to pay jacked up webcam prices.

There are plenty of apps out there to use a phone as a webcam on PC (Android), not sure about iPhones.

    • EpocCam is a good one to use on iOS - there's both a paid and free version. Paid one is roughly $15 from memory.

    • A bit fiddly, especially the mounting part

A little tripod like this would take care of that. There are better ones available too.

      • I actually have one of those, they aren't bad, but don't work well with larger phones or when you are placing it on a desk on certain height configurations. On mine, the camera angle is way too low and it looks very strange. But, if you have a good place to wrap it around, it can work well.

        • Yup, the better ones I was referring to was something like this. Depending on your monitor and desk, you'd be able to put it behind your monitor and have it peek out from the top of the screen.

I have one hanging down from a shelf to just above my monitor and it works great in terms of positioning. The ball joint is really cheaply made, but it does work.

  • Just use your mobile phone camera and driodcam or some other webcam app

  • Bought a 920c for a friend but when I Skype the video is always pixelated?

    • Does your friend have a good internet connection with a fast upload speed?

      • They got Optus cable, think it's capped at 1.5mbps upload, so yeah could be that

        • Yeah it very likely is. If they have a good 4G upload speed, maybe try do a test over that?
