Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus 128GB $199 Upfront on Telstra $99 150GB P/M 12-Month Contract (New / Port-In Customers) @ JB Hi-Fi

2560

Greetings everyone, just spotted that JB have placed the Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus 4G 128gb on promotion on their $99 Per Month 150gb Plan.

Considering that this plan has a $594 Early Termination Charge, you could essentially get the phone for $793 (+pro-rated first month charge) if you cancelled the plan early :)

Think this is definitely the cheapest I've seen this phone before if you factor that in.

As always, enjoy!

      • ETC is $594

        • Is it based on $99 or $89 ?

          • @Archer12: AFAIK, $10 monthly credit does not have a bearing on the ETC. It is always $594.

      • +1

I think you also need to buy recharge of $10 from Optus to activate the Optus plan first.

        • +1

No, select any recharge then when putting in credit card details use wrong CCV. After trying 3 times it will skip the recharge step

  • Confirmed ,it is a legit deal. Make sure you take the $10 credit to make it $89 per month. Enjoy guys

    • It's not automatic? Do you have to ask for it?

      • was automatically applied for me!

  • +1

Guys I have gone to the top ryde city store and it's not a pricing error.

I even told them if it's a pricing error and he confirmed it is NOT a pricing error.

They even had a huge sign in the store with this offer.

It's legit and available. Im tossing between this or the Note 20 Ultra. Help

I hope this helps clear it for some here

    • if you stay with the plan then go with Note20 from The Good Guys, if you want this phone only then JBHiFi for this.

      • whats the goodguys plan?

  • Could you do the $49/month contract and just run it out?

Am I missing something? Is it only available on the $99 plan?

    • Locked into the $99 (or $89 after credit) plan. Those plans further down on the page are sim only im pretty sure.

  • in the past some people said JB or telstra will check if the number you want to port in is not brand new ie at least active for a month is this true?
so i cannot just buy new prepaid optus and activate on the way to JB store same day to get this plan and phone?

    • +2

so i cannot just buy new prepaid optus and activate on the way to JB store same day to get this plan and phone?

Telstra have no oversight of other telco numbers.
I activated a Kogan sim card outside the store when I did this for the $99 S10E and ported out from kogan to telstra 10 mins later..

      • cwong is correct - they have no way to verify. If you don't volunteer the information, they have no way of knowing.

  • PLEASE HELP! If this is true I am going into JB tonight to buy the phone.

My plan is to buy a new SIM, buy the phone, sign up to the $99 plan with this new SIM but then after a few days cancel the plan and use my existing permanent SIM.

My question is, do I need to pay for the handset if I cancel? I spoke to Telstra (who wasn't very helpful) and he said that if I did that I would have to pay for the whole phone $1349 or whatever)?

    • Your plan is valid.

My question is, do I need to pay for the handset if I cancel? I spoke to Telstra (who wasn't very helpful) and he said that if I did that I would have to pay for the whole phone $1349 or whatever)?

No, Telstra side can only see you signed up to a $99/m BYO plan on their end.

Either attempt to cancel, or port out the telstra plan with a $2 sim afterwards 1-2 days later and pay the early termination charge ($594)

      • Why do you need to wait 1~2 days? can I cancel on the same day after leaving the store?

      • Thank you so much!

        • Don't even buy a new sim. Just sign up a new number there.

  • Hi All, May be a silly question, but would the phone be UNLOCKED?

    • +1

I can't even remember the time when phone was locked

    • Yes but is unlocked

  • +3

    • If it's $89/month, should ETC = ($89 x 12)/2 = $534?

      • +3

The $10 promotional/port in credit is not taken into account when terminating.

    • Just got one this morning and trying to cancel

but Telstra can't verify my new details via the form

      https://www.my.telstra.com.au/myaccount/contract-details

Does it take time for it to load up in their system ? it's been 3 hrs.

      • Same for me

  • Can anyone confirm or provide evidence contrary to one's ability to port out of Telstra today to any other Telco to take advantage of this deal?

Some people are saying something about 30 days, but I was wondering where this could be found.

    • You have to port out for 30 days.

    • I think Telstra's systems flag if a number has been with them (or their subsidiaries) within the last 30 days.

    • +1

if you're planning to burn the account and go through ETC, you can just get a new number with them and not worry about porting

  • If I buy Note 20 Ultra 5G on JBHifi Telstra Plan ($1,099 upfront on $99/M plan) will I still get the free buds since this is a pre-order?

    • +1

yes, you do. but, if you plan to stay on for 12-month, better sign on The Good Guys's 69/m plan

  • Just got the phone, should i wait a few days after sim activation or i can just cancel straght away? Not sure exactly why i have to wait 2-3days. Also, they told me they advertise it at $99/m but they give you 10$/12month in the contract.

  • Got one. All as expected 199 upfront. Going to cancel right away.

    • Can you confirm its S20+ or S20+ 5G? As I understand, this offer is only for S20+ which has 8GB RAM and NOT for S20+ 5G which has 12GB RAM.

      • Correct in my case I got S20+ (not 5G version). I have been using 5G version for 2x weeks before getting this and no difference in phone performance.

  • Just confirming.is it only for port in customers? Or can it be a new connection with new number?

    • +3

      New customer is eligible too.

According to that screen shot, there's a $700gc for the s20+. The s20+ which is currently on sale for $1199. The 700gc would bring it down to $499 … consistent with all the other models in the promotions.

I guess there's been a typo/price mistake somewhere, so the s20+ is only $199. Better start move quick to get this.

        • It is not a price error. I was in liverpool store, they have promotional poster hanging up for this deal, along with others poster

          • -1

@bargainfinder: I guess it depends where the error occurred, but it's definitely an inconsistency on the screenshot.

        • hey, I didn't get. Do we get a gift card as well of $99 plan or when you just buy the phone?

          • @Jiva: No - they use the gift card immediately as a discount on the phone.

      • Damn wish I had seen this a few minutes earlier. Bought and activated a burner sim with a plan on it. Lol. Thanks for the pic though. Does clarify things.

    • Would the following work?

Sign up as a new customer
Cancel sim contract (how would I do this?)

Insert existing sim card and use as normal (Mate mobile on the Telstra network, if it matters).

      • +1

call up telstra as you're walking out and give them your new account number / mobile number
there's just likely to be a wait to the call centre when you have ozb all calling up together!

      • +1

Simply port out to any other network i.e. Optus or Anaysim. This is the easiest way to cancel the plan.

  • Do we get receipt $1199 with the gst ? Planning to get gst refund

    • How do you plan to travel if I may ask?

      • Maybe for GST registered business as input tax credit?

      • +1

@cloudie9 There's no travel restrictions for non-citizens wanting to leave Australia. Plenty of flights departing Australia too.

    • Yes you do. Shows as paid with $1000 gift card then however you paid the $199

    • +2

      Here's a pic of the receipt https://ibb.co/Wnhn4Ct

      • Thanks for coming back.
I went to JB to get one. however my transfer from Kogan still pending.
They told me I'm not the only one and Telstra is congested.
They wont let me take the phone until the transfer is completed.

        • Interesting, my transfer from Optus happened almost immediately

  • Does anyone know if The Good Guys also offer the $10.00pm port-in credit?

    • I'm here right now. Will report. If they don't. Jb is next door to them lol.

      • +3

No go at Good Guys before

        • Thanks for getting back to me mate.

  • Another question. I take it all S20s are 5g?

    • +2

No. This $199 deal is only for S20+ NOT for S20+ 5G. Main difference is RAM. S20+ has 8GB RAM whereas S20+ 5G has 12GB RAM.

    • No. And I think this deal is for a 4G version.

    • No 5g, 4g only.

      • Ah wells. Still picked one up to replace the S8.

  • +1

    Thanks op.
went to JB marion. Staff was not aware of the deal.
Bought two phones with new connection.
no rush. smooth and easy. she applied $10 credit.
    going to cancel now.

    • Did you do it under same name?

The lady there was busy AF and I spoke to another dude who said I had to wait 6 months to do a 2nd one also in my name.

      • +1

i did both under my name.

        • Safe. Will try tomorrow for 2nd.

New numbers, yeah, no port in?

  • Sounds like they’re heavily overstocked.
Plenty of stores around me with stock.
    Grabbed a S9+ from JB for $749.
Not quite ready for a hole punch yet.

    • +3

      Madlad.

50 bucks more for the s20+and the hole punch just gets deleted by your brain anyways.

      • Haha look, you’re not wrong.
        Probably should have in hindsight.

        • +1

          Bring it back for refund??

          • @So lo: True, but too much effort lol.

    • Really bro, i mean i did not like the S20 that much for the 2 months i had it, but will take it over the s9+ anytime. Camera on s20+ is a big step up from S9+

    • Asked the stuff member if they have enough of these in stock and he said that they are ovestocked

  • So how do we cancel this plan. I just got back from JB with the phone in my grubby hands

  • Anyone aware how much this would sell for on fb marketplace?

    • Was $1000 but now many flooded the market then I guess down to $800

      Meaning no profit!

    • +1

Fb will be flooded with this next few days. I was able to sell it off for 1k but thas was a month ago

    • +2

I did a test ad on gumtree and Facebook and there is no demand. Most people offering around the 800-850 mark. And then they ask if this is 5G. So forget about selling. Only buy the phone if you want it for yourself. That's my recommendation.

    • Webuyback will give you $940 for a brand new model, try searching other services.

      • +1

        Hmm interesting

        Now I'm interested…
