[QLD] Scott's Hand Sanitizer 1L $3 @ Tribe of Judah (Logan)

1020

Tribe of Judah advertises itself as the cheapest groceries in Logan and it isn't kidding. You can always get amazing deals here, some stock is close to or past its best before but safe to consume. Sales from the store allow it to provide grocery hampers to those in need.

No, I'm not affiliated with the store but I am always amazed at how good the deals are in store. Sure you may have to eat it that day or the next but the store is great at supporting people to eat nutritiously for a fraction of the cost of normal retail.

  • Nice find. Please add brand name in title.

    • When OP says you have to eat it today or the next day, can you freeze it instead?

This is so cheap, during the pandemic back in April, a store near my work was selling for $120/litre.

    • +2

      Capitalism.

When there is profit to be made, someone will enter the competition and competition drives prices down.

      • +3

"Cartel" is another great C word.

        • +3

Cartels drive the price up. Same first alphabet, conflicting concepts.

        • +14

"C**ts" is another great C word too to describe these types of people.

    • +5

Bunnings sells these for $12 so it is a solid price. Australian made as well.

    • 10kg of sugar for $17.2 at ALDI, a pack of turbo yeast alcotec for $8.50.. 21 l of water and a 20kw of electricity. Here comes your 3.5l of 96% ethanol.. dillute to 70% and get 5 l of sanitizer for $25.

      • +2

        This is cheaper than that?

        • -2

Not really, but you can sanitize yourself in and out with your own distill. I suggest a 2 stage with rectification though

  • +9

    These smell quite a bit.

    • Yeah of alcohol, so you know it's working!

      • +7

        No, it smells revolting.

        • +6

That brand at my bunnings smells great.

Its like an alcohol burn mixed with a radiator coolant tang.

The only chemical i recon smells nicer is bleach.

Nothing relaxes you and makes you feel microbialy safe like bleach imo.

          • @MasterScythe: I drink a glass of bleach every day, and I've never felt better! I've lost like 40 kilos in the last month, I haven't had to get a haircut for some reason, and every night I sleep a solid 15 hours!

          • @MasterScythe: I find it goes well when spread thinly on a slice of toast.

    • +2

The new batch doesn't smell as bad. In fact, not bad at all.

I agree that a few months ago, this smelt like what vinegar would if it were possible for it to go rancid.

    • The fragrance they use is horrible

      • +2

The fragrance they use is horrible

If we're using the word "fragrance" rather loosely here, then yes. :-)

    • We use this at work, the stench of this stuff is ghastly

    • Smells fine for our family, we must be immune.

  • +1

This is supplied at work, it smells funny, wish they could get Purell back

  • That’s great - thanks for sharing :)

Doubt anyone in Logan would take hygiene seriously so no surprise these need to be cleared quickly.

    • -1

Gee, get a sense of humour people. Magnastar is correct about 'em cane toads.

    • -1

Typical ignorant comment from someone who's probably never been to Logan and just believes all the stereotypes.

      • +3

Do you understand the concept of humour? Especially the good old Aussie humour that lets us all have a go at each other? Do you also think that I believe that the sheep in New Zealand are hyper vigilant and sleep with one eye open when I say just that? Jesus, get a sense of humour. Feel free to joke about us Melbournians.

      • +1

Why ignorant? I'm from Brisbane, went to TMR and parked on Civic Parade as the car park was full. When I came out of TMR after 20 mins my car was gone. Some 15 year old nicked it.

Fast forward three years later, went to play Badminton near the Golden Arches at Logan Central. Was joking with my mates that I should BYOB - bring your own bricks. After playing badminton my mates motorbike was gone.

That kinda stuff never happened to me in Brisneyland.

      • Funny thing about Logaphobes is that they're usually happy to go to IKEA, like the fact that it's IKEA somehow cancels out the fact that it's in Woodridge.

        • Don’t forget the Sara Lee Factory Outlet! If it’s still there and hasn’t been forced to closed due to being shoplifted into oblivion.

$50 says some hard working guy on the Varsity Lakes train was finishing up some work on his laptop and was quickly browsing Ozbargain when you saw my comment and snatched his laptop and jumped off at Loganlea and typed that reply before trying to pawn it off at Cash Converters and throwing his laptop bag full of unsellable documents into the scrub while stumbling home nodding out

  • +2

    The name 😂

  • +1

A rep that comes to my work to supply Hand Sanitizer and Hand Wash, was very skeptical about this particular brand.

He mentioned that there is next to no alcohol in it, but a quick google mentioned that it contained 75% ??

I'm guessing he was either bagging competitor products, or knew something that most don't ??

    • +4

Sounds a bit unprofessional to me.

    • I swear I remember seeing a report on the ABC a couple weeks ago saying that this brand had less alcohol than was printed on the bottle.

      • +2

I saw the same a cleaning supply business was practically giving this stuff away because it’s claim of 75% alcohol was vastly over stated.

  • Spent 4 times the money for 1/2 of the vol. just 5 months ago

  • +1

Good find OP, will try to ring them and see if they can supply few dozens to company i work for ( Not for profit age care)..made in AU is big bonus too..

When we were more scared and didn’t realise how bad this one smells

    • +1

      Sign of the times
$30/L delivered was a great price compared to everything else available at the time.
That was also available to everyone and not just a random store in QLD (which doesn't have many cases).

  • Oi Vay!

  • +1

    Good price.

Notice the amount of bubbles which means less product in each bottle.

  • This stuff smells awful

    • Thats the normal smell when you burn covid.

  • Do i have to join the tribe to purchase there?

    • No, but if you do join, be careful you don't get lost in the wilderness i.e. Logan for 40 years.

  • $3 a litre is outrageously affordable. God bless these guys.

  • +2

    I found this supplier declaration:
    https://2ecffd01e1ab3e9383f0-07db7b9624bbdf022e3b5395236d5cf…
It states at 70.0% ethanol by volume.

Also the MSDS https://2ecffd01e1ab3e9383f0-07db7b9624bbdf022e3b5395236d5cf… states ethanol 60-70%.

  • Are these Made In Australia or not? Shops charged $120/L back in April, said it's Made In Australia.

  • If this was an online / delivery deal they would be rich

  • +1

Amazing how quickly we can go from undersupply to oversupply. Oh well hopefully the consumers will now win this round. Don't even feel bad for the businesses that brought at the peak of pricing and now selling less than cost. They made their money. Great find OP

  • I'll never forget the day I was driving towards Logan. On my way I saw the 'Welcome to Logan' sign up ahead, and in front of me was a Commodore sedan, with a large sticker on the rear window that read 'Slut Chariot'.

I always laugh to myself quietly when I'm reminded of it.

  • We grabbed 2 today and there is still plenty of stock, they also had McCain's Rustica Margherita sourdough pizzas for $1.99 so we grabbed 2 of those, wish I had more room in the freezer as these are the best.

    • "Wish I had more room in the freezer" is what I say when I look at their $1 ben and jerrys.
