Do they milk you afterwards with 'extras'?

  • From a similar groupon deal..

Good service but I feel like they charge lots of money I got coupons for full car service $79 but the original price was $197 B when I went there they charged me $110 extra for good oil, which surprised me, my car is a 2014 Honda City which isn’t a new car as well.

You'll definitely get good service if they can get you back to pay $110 extra for oil. I wonder what they actually put in as well. That engine (or at least variants of it) is from the dinosaurs era, and it's made for the SE Asia and developing countries markets where not everyone has access to good quality parts and consumables so any snake oil meeting the required specs would work just as well in that car.

Surcharge applies if your vehicle requires synthetic oil

Well then most cars will be getting a surcharge

For $109 they are barely going to look at the car let alone complete all these checks. That or hit you up with a surprise extra bill when you return for your car. It's not viable for them to do all this for $109 so expect every corner to be cut or get extra charges like the guy above reported.

You get what you pay for and $109 doesn't pay for all that, even though it's all basic stuff. It'll be brushed over really fast.

$109 is before groupon takes their cut as well

        Ouch!

        AVOID is my advice.

    • It's funny you know. People pay for this kinda service and think that they are driving a safe car that was looked over thoroughly by a professional and it couldn't be further from the truth. Ignorance is bliss.

These deals are always about drumming up business.
No doubt every customer is going to be hit with a huge list or 'urgent' extras and 'must-do' repairs.
Generally grumpy local suburban mechanics over 30 years old and with a decent reputation to uphold and the best choice for cars out of warranty. (for some reason I notice the good, honest ones are always grumpy)

That's true about the grumpy comment. The best mechanics I've come across are all moody buggers, but they get the job done so I turn a blind eye to the attitude :)

    • Bonus if they’ve got a great mechanic name. My guy is a Kevin.

  • The only car service deal I would ever touch on Groupon is aircon regas when they are 15+10% off.

  • Did ya mama not teach y all "you gets what ya pays for. DON'T SET YOURSELF UP FOR DISAPPOINTMENT. A wide berth with these offers is best.

    • +2

If that were true, this site would be an empty town.

  • They forgot to add in the fine print surcharge for australian and asian built cars as well

    • And red cars

    • Service is not eligible for brand new cars

Bit hard to justify topping up the indicator fluid on a new car..

  • The stacked discount and cashback today were too tempting today, so I bit the bullet and bought this, as my car's oil change, tyre rotation and logbook inspection are all due in a couple of months. We'll see how it goes.
