  • Has 7" color TFT screen; 4-pole, 3.5" earphone jack; 240v AC charger & USB charging- & data-cable; ear-bud earphone.

  • need to fix up the link:

Also this has a TFT screen and so (according to specs) only 8 hours battery life. which compares poorly to most eInk eReaders which have many multiples of this; it is more a video player than a eReader in my 'book'. A kindle or other eReader would be much better value for a person looking for an eReader IMHO.

    • Thanks for heads-up on link error.

On battery life: Yup, but color is nice for MP4s & PDFs; 'hope it displays them in color

      I also hope it shows TED.com & Fora.tv talks (& in color)

      Our sample is charging… :-/

PS DSE may be peddling MiGear's 2 GB version, sans case, etc.

If you like this class of item (color screen, 4 GB), compare to the Gear2Go at Big W (etc.) before choosing, so you'll get better value for $98.

Of course, if you make the wrong choice, you may still be able to insert a MicroSD card (up to 32 GB for the Gear2Go item in this deal; dunno what DSE's MiGear dev offers…?)

      • The reason i may have gone overboard on battery issue is because a am heading overseas and need very long battery life to read ebooks (beats lugging heavy books about). This 'eReader' may be a good compromise of features for the price if battery life is a non-issue as for all tablet devices.

If nothing else you have good taste in TED and Fora :)

Please share your feedback on it once you give it a spin.

        • There is a small battery life extender, for multiple mobiles, that may help. Just use their (included) USB adapter for these eBook readers.

8 Hours in no where near long enough, Would not pay anywhere near $98 for this.

  • Pay abit more for a "real" eink ebook reader - i.e. Kindle.

    • I like color in PDFs, etc.

Also does Kindle do audio, video, etc. from all those formats?

I have 12-13 days to look deeper into this… It might do for home-made PDFs.

i have the migear one, it sits gaining dust on a shelf, i thought it was ok until i bought a kindle, now I feel anyone deluding themself that this is a good purchase needs to really spend some time with a kindle to get a good perspective and when you look at the price difference, there is no reason to buy the migear/gear2go readers. They make poor comic readers (rubbish actually as the images do not scale well) they are sub par with pdf (again, scaling is a huge issue) and for text they are fine, until you see an e-ink display. As for video, poor quality, buy a travel tv/dvd set.

    • $10 is offered for your working MiGear…

  • Does the Kindle offer free 3G in Australia?
