I believe this is a reasonable price and even better than current JB-HiFi commercial price listing of $400+ if you have access to The Good Guys Commercial, where it is showing $351 for my access as below proof link.

    Called 3 stores and one of the tech guy informed good guys gave instructions not to match at commercial price due to oz bargain post.

    • Can confirm. Called 2 stores and advised they would not price match. Told me to go through the commercial site (which I obviously would, if I could). Damn.

      • And after refusing to sell them to me at the commercial price they tried to sell them to me for $550 lol good luck.

    I was able to get it for $409 at my local JB by ringing up and saying that I saw online someone bought them for $330 through some Sony employment partnership (posted in another thread) and asked if they could get anywhere close to that, he said he couldn't match that price but offered them to me for 409, told him its a deal and picked them up 30min later.

    Good luck to all in price matching with your local stores, they're great headphones but I don't advise paying over 450 for them.

        • Unfortunately, that screenshot is from the Good Guys Commercial. I have a JB Hi-Fi Solutions (commercial) account and my account manager has refused to price match their own subsidiary, which is beyond ridiculous. Are you able to provide any proof of your price match? That would be greatly appreciated!

            @elektron: The accounts manager I had accepted the good guys commercial screenshot as proof to price match through jbhifi commercial/solutions.

            Unfortunately I can’t provide proof without involving my accounts manager. To avoid any conflict I won’t be sharing any receipts in case my manager did me a solid they weren’t supposed to do. Sorry!

              @zintill: Thanks for the reply - I fully understand. But what about blacking out any sensitive information on the receipt? I don't think he did you a solid, given that The Good Guys are fully owned by JB.

                @FormulaWon: Screenshot was all that was needed. My responses I got were pretty quick. However I had previous conversations over a year with my account manager about other items I have purchased over that time. So that might be why it was so quick for me.

  • I have had the XM3 since they came out and although they are great in almost every respect the one major issue they have is they are terrible on calls apparently because they only have 1 mic which actually brings outside noises in during the phone calls. This makes using the XM3's for phone calls in an environment with any background noise a horrible experience.

    I have read there is now a dedicated second mic for this. This would be a major improvement.

    Has anyone tried the XM4's for calls in noisy environments and what are they like?

      • Cheers, yeah I had a look. The reviews like most reviews are general in nature and don't actually provide much detailed information or testing especially on the call quality upgrade.

        I would like some actual user feedback particularity from anyone who has used both the XM3's and XM4's to gauge how much better the actual call quality is..

          Call quality is improved but still very poor and no comparison to any of the Bose NC headphones.

          • @motlking: Thanks mate, if this is the case I will be sticking with my XM3's for now. Very disappointing that after 4 years Sony still can't fix the phone call quality issue.

              • @googoogaga: I believe the person on the other end has issues as well but generally I just don't use them for calls in any noisy environment. They are fine to use for calls in your own home or a quiet office but anywhere there is much noise the XM3's aren't good.

        • In terms of call quality, XM4 improved significantly compared to XM3.

          But Bose 700 still leads the way as it cancels the backgound noise during the call while XM4 doesn't.

              @DR-JEKL: I just watched that review at 3:50 and again it has the same issue as the XM3's, it almost amplify's the external noise although it is dulled somewhat it is still annoying and distracting

                Here is a call quality test, it just sounds muffled with the background noise.

                  The background noise isn't loud in that test. Its almost like a fan or white noise which is what these headphones are great at keeping out i.e. consistent airplane humms etc.

                  The bose block it out easily but the XM4's seem to let it in quite easily.

                  Id like to see the same test with louder noises and people actually talking close by etc

  • I'm not a TGG commercial member but for those guys out there who want in on the deal my local store would warrant the price as of 10am 19th August if I could provide membership details.

    So give your local stores a call they may play ball :) (one of the other stores wouldn't when I mentioned TGG commercial so try a few)

            Perhaps call a few of your local stores it only takes 10 mins?

                • @DR-JEKL: Yeah they ask if you have the commercial number and then I just replied someone told me so you can look it up from there and I can provide them the screenshot as 'partial' proof and reference given they can look it up, but still not good enough to pass the gatekeeper, lol
                  But if I call outside metro, does it mean I have to pick it up? Or they can do delivery as well?
                  And if successful, can I order 2, one black and white? Or most likely I can take one given the big discount?

                  • @gobear: Ahh OK in my scenario they wouldn't warrant the deal without TGG commercial members details (told me to get them and they've put aside a set for me)

                    They do offer delivery but I believe its $9 or so (no biggy with a big discount)

      Sometimes it does happen to new devices
      if it persists, swap it out

  • Well when I went to pay for the items TGG retracted their price match of the TGG commercial price, it had expired yesterday it was a special one off release price.

    They offered them to me at a staff discount price of $385 so cant complain..

    • Congratulations. I called alot and pretty all say NO so I sense this is pretty much game over.
      Out of curiosity, how do they give you the 'staff' discount for you?
      Don't the staff probably have quotas (or at least give to their family/friends) rather than benefiting to strangers??
      So basically we can all simply walk in and say "can we please use 'your staff discount'?", lol..

        Umm I guess because they did state they would honour TGG commercial price match, but then back stepped (I needed commercial members details didn't have all the details one kind member offered me his name and em ol address but they couldn't find him in the system?)

    • Yes! I had the same issue. It doesn't make sense as I've recently ordered multiple items via The Good Guys Commercial and always received an invoice from the store.

    Used my company discount (Insurer) to pick up a pair of black XM4's for $347.62 today on the Gold Coast. I asked them to quote on both the XM3's and the XM4's and they came back with the same price for both sets of headphones- obvious choice from there.

  • Bit the bullet and ordered from JB solutions last night for $404.93 plus $10 delivery. Still a decent saving, was having no luck trying to get either TGG or JB to match.

    • How did you manage that? It's still showing $431.13 for me.

      • Just through union shopper. Still showing as $404.93 for me today.

    • I've tried exactly that on Tuesday (the day after the deal was posted) and even provided them with the screen shot. His initial response was is that it was the old model, I replied again with the zoomed in and high-lighted model number and this time received no response at all. Followed up a day later, this time received a response saying that it was a TGGC price error and they were pulled from the site. I pointed out to them that they were actually sold out - not pulled, and that I know people who have picked them up at this price. You'd think he would know that, given that they are they are the same company. He never responded.

      Pretty pathetic service and even lies from JB Hi-Fi - especially, someone calling themselves an Account Manager looking after the company I work for that has given them a lot of business. Looking at their latest earnings results, JB might be getting too fat and too comfortable.

    I don't know whether it was luck but my partner was able to get 2 headphones for less than $690 delivered. The order was done today via JB Hifi.

    Picked some up yesterday. Disappointed with the call quality. Can hardly hear people and have to speak quite loudly when on the phone

        I answered 20 calls today at work and it was difficult to hear and speak.

        Ended up reverting back to my wired Jabra Elites which made me feel like I had wasted my money on these

        • I only use if very quiet in the office or recently what I have done is I use my iphone wired earbuds and put my xm3's over the top for noise cancellation! It works but I shouldn't have too!
