Stephane Maarek's excellent (4.7 stars) Ultimate AWS Solution Architect Associate course (to help pass the AWS certification) is on discount (apparently cheapest it's ever been) and he's donating all earnings to charity.

Note this does not include the exam certification price.

I have decided to organize a fundraising for Shanti Bhavan, a non-profit organization that helps children from extremely impoverished backgrounds rise up, through my AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate course!

How does this all works?

For the next 5 days, you can use the coupon DONATE to buy my AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate course for $9.99 (the lowest price available on Udemy!!) or GIFT it to someone so they can get started with AWS (see how to gift the course below)!!
After these 5 days, I will donate all my profits from this coupon to Shanti Bhavan, with an addition of 25%!
So if we can collect $5,000, I will donate $6,250!

I will, of course, keep you posted on the progess on LinkedIn and on the amount of the donation right after the campaign is over!

Why are you doing this?

Through this donation project, I would like to give back after how teaching on Udemy has completely changed my life for the best, but also my students lives!

I still feel like there is more to be done, and I would love for people to learn the Cloud, but also know that we, through our donations, helped changed the lives of promising young kids! ️

What is Shanti Bhavan?

Shanti Bhavan is a non-profit organization based in India.
Their mission is to help children of deprived backgrounds become leaders through excellence in education and holistic personal development.

Each child receives 17 years of educational intervention, from the age of four until they graduate from college and begin their career.

Their long-term goal is that their graduates will not only transform the lives of their families, both economically and socially, but that they will also assist a minimum of 100 individuals!
Why Shanti Bhavan?

I chose Shanti Bhavan as I watched their documentary on Netflix and was deeply touched by their mission and investment.

As we are both in education, I felt like it was a great project to give back to, especially in India, a community that accounts for 30% of my students and brought me so much!!

I already have your SAA course, what can I do?

What you can also do, and that I encourage you to do, is to GIFT the course to someone that would love to learn the AWS Cloud! You can learn how to gift a course on Udemy through this quick tutorial!

I bought this while ago for around $15, It is a good course.

I have a theory that one most likely won't bother doing a course if they get it for free (sure there are the < 1%'ers).

Whereas if you pay for it, you're more likely to do it.

So, with that, I'll wait for this to go free and add it to my mammoth list of freebies that I'll never even open.

    Good deal though.

    • Oh, now i know why most of my free flybuys sample's always expire.

    • +4

Not really. If it's free I would do if its related to my career. Just because it's paid doesn't mean it's quality material.

In my eyes only Acloud guru, Linux academy and whizlab are worth the money

That is if you plan to pass the exam

      • Apparently Stephanes courses are every bit as good as Linux academy. Acloud guru sucks.

        • I see. If it's worth $11 then it's a bargain but it's very hard to know which course is decent

          • @neonlight: I was on a call with AWS last week and they highly recommended Stephane's course. Whilst it is personal opinion (what teaching style do you prefer) I trust the SA I was speaking to and would say Stephane's courses are top-notch.

        • Surprised by your ACG comment. I've been using them for years and find them pretty good.

      • +2

Stephane's course is recommended too often. So it might be quite good.
The other recommendation I've heard a lot is a course by Adrian Catril (ex LinuxAcademy).

Hope this is not one of those "if you gotta ask, it's not for you" type of question..but..

To anyone who have done this course, how transferable is the knowledge to Azure?

    • +4

Not so much as to learn the "course" but learning AWS/Cloud. If you understand the concepts around the cloud, the terminologies/implementations differ slightly between providers.

    • +2

I have not done this course but I passed the associate exam. The solutions architect associate certificate is designed around AWS product offerings. Although the bulk of the technical knowledge is transferable among cloud platforms since the underlying concepts and business models are similar, you will end up knowing much more about AWS and will require some time to get your head around other providers services. I would suggest you do a course that is designed for the platform you will be dealing with the most. If you are not sure which one you will be using more, AWS is a good start.

For Azure, the Microsoft course is quite good

10.99 make you an architect. Definitely worth a go. Charity is always good and a good way to market for self.

    • +5

lol, aws runs almost 40% of all cloud based services, with that number growing year on year. what do you base your statement on?

      • +6

        Weed.

        • Because subscription based models have failed to-date….lol

        • and having an MCP certificate makes you an authoritative source of industry and technology adoption trends because……?

      • sarcasm meter off

    • I seriously hope you are joking!

    • windows server certs are being phased out in favor of azure, the "redundant technology"

    • +2

Sounds like someone missed the Azure Foundations deal

    • If you're attempting to have the best down vote in Ozbargain history ill see you at the bottom.

      Good troll post tho…

    • +1

Windows server is redundant technology. I'm jumping on the punch card certificate bandwagon

    Thanks OP.

  • FYI, he's got a few other courses down to $10.99. worth stocking up for when you'll need it.

I've completed this course. Together with another one by Neal Adams, I managed to pass the official AWS certification exam. Definitely recommended !

    • +1

      Well done!

      • Thanks !

    • +1

The other one is also Udemy? Neal Adams just wondering what other materials did you use. Congrats

      • Yes, the Neal Adams course is also on Udemy. I completed both courses and both courses have very good practice exams.

  • +1

You can prep for the course from YouTube https://youtu.be/Ia-UEYYR44s

  • Very nice course. With almost 95+% coverage needed for the exam. The course is dense without much repetition and the author speaks fast unlike many other udemy courses, so there is a lot to go through, understand and process! Worth every $.

  • Do you need to have other certifications to get certified to this? Or can you just do the exam?

    • +1

You can just do the exam.

    • Before they require Cloud Practitioner before attempting this one.
      But that requirement was removed.
Now you can jump straight into this one.
