This seems like a good deal for a very popular choice of HOTAS for PC gamers. Should work with the new MSFS2020 and various other flight/space sims, especially the upcoming Star Wars Squadrons game.

Ships ~ August 27 to arrive by 15 September.

Price History at C CamelCamelCamel.

If you think an Xbox controller is equivalent to a HOTAS, you're completely missing the point of the HOTAS.

        This or trackpad?

        • This or little red clit-mouse?

          • @runean: Good 'ole IBM….
            Glad Lenovo still do 'em

Bought this set a few weeks ago and I finally opened it today for MFS2020.

WORTH EVERY CENT! I can't imagine playing it without at least a HOTAS now.

Wow, got it for $150 couple years back and sold it for $120 after getting my Warthog…good starter kit for flight sims though the throttle rails are kinda sticky.

This is true, especially as it ages and the original lubricant ages. Apparently Nyogel 767a is the way to go from what I read online. From what I see everyone says it takes it from feeling grabby to very fluid and precise.

  • Was looking at buying this, but just the stick is available from JB Hifi for $119.

Honestly unsure if I'd even need the non-stick component - can't I just throttle with the slider at the bottom of the joystick?

I regret binning my old flogged Saitek Cyborg Evo years ago - shoulda tried to repair it.

      Depends what you're into.
In Digital Combat Simulator both would be an absolute minimum.
In FS2020, not such a big deal.

  • Is this (stick only) worth it over the new Airbus sidestick? About to pull the trigger on the airbus.

    • Airbus side stick is really only useful if you're flying civilian aircraft. I have no interest in military, so all my flights are with Airbus aircraft in X-Plane. As soon as the throttle is ready to ship I'll be ordering the side stick and throttle quadrant.

      • So… is that a yes then? Sorry your post is unclear.

I'm a noob in the FS world. I'll be flying mostly prop planes in FS2020.

        • TBH, the airbus looks nearly identical to the t.16000. Looks like you're missing 2 buttons on the airbus (compared to t16). Also t16 can be modified for right or left hand, and the airbus doesn't look like it does that. Airbus also (looks) like it doesn't light up, which the t16 also does.

Looks to me like get whichever you like the look of or whichever is cheaper.

        • It generally seems like the T16000 is better featured, if nothing else via the more featured 'head' of the stick. More buttons is ALWAYS a plus, especially if you're only getting a stick and not a throttle/second stick.

That said, the Airbus version DOES look nicer, as I can't stand GAMER gear.

          • @runean: I went ahead and purchased the Airbus sidestick, all the reviews were high and in fact the stick was developed in conjunction with the FS2020 devs and Microsoft, whom also who sell it on their US store.

Scorptec had it in stock in Sydney for $119, is $149 everywhere else(that has stock left). In fact i was just using it when i get this pinged on your reply lol.

It customisable to left or right hand contrary to what's been posted here. It is auto detected and keys/buttons already mapped. Loving it so far!

@f0x13: Damn, just sold out at Scorptec! Thanks for the feedback

  • Console compatible?

  • +2

Might just wait for 3 months until 90% of people are bored of MSFS2020, then buy a second hand one for half the price…

    • +1

Might be faster than that, casuals usually stop playing fairly soon after the novelty wears off.

    • Very good point. Likely a price spike right now, considering these have in past been as low as $150

  • If you've got this on back order I would look at the reviews on Amazon and decide if you want to cancel. Common issues include z-axis becoming unusable and buttons breaking. I've had several copies of the lower end Logitech Extreme 3D and Force 3D Extreme Pro for over 10 years and never had such failures on any copy. Wanted to upgrade but if this is what's available, I'll just stick with what I have.
