    • I'm looking at a PLA recycle machine that shreds and reconstitutes (?) my failed or unused print jobs, of which I have a whole box full, into reusable Filament

      There are a few around.

Ordered the ender 3 v2 on aug 6 and it's been stuck in china customs since aug 9. Current ETA is now sep 13.

Expect a long wait for your order.

    • Yeah, shipping from overseas has been hit and miss during COVID. It can sometimes amaze you when they arrive quicker than an interstate delivery but they can often get stuck for no obvious reason. Just luck of the draw..

    • This is why I didn't end up going with the V2. I got the Pro from the local AU warehouse and it came in 4 days!

It looks like the V2 is now stocked in AU, so they'll come well before yours unfortunately.

      Good luck with it!

Reminder if you can wait until the 25th, you can buy directly from creality Aus Warehous the Pro Model with a the tempered glass base and nozzles.

Been waiting 2 weeks for my order from Creality and customer service is absolutely crap so far (they can't give me an ETA, have sent me shipping information but it hasn't been picked up and just keep telling me not worry)

      • Even better. Just called DHL and they haven't even had the printer picked up…

  • Can i 3d print an aztec death whistle with it?

  • don't forget 8% cashback from shopback

  • Where's a good place to get filaments?

  • Argh, want one but I can only find 4 or 5 things to print on Thingiverse.
How can I make sure this doesn't end up being a useless money pit ?

    • WARNING: these things ARE a useless money pit !

But much more affordable than my previous bad habits.

    • you could always onsell it

    • Haha yeh it can get expensive pretty fast once you get hooked on purchasing upgrades. If you want some practical uses you can have a look at r/functionalprint on Reddit. It's basically a bunch of custom stuff that you can't normally buy when something breaks, or the gizmos you usually find at dollar stores.

Many people in the hobby will tell you half the fun is upgrading your printer though. And if your the type to enjoy tinkering and electronics it'll probably be worth it if you consider the fun you'll have :D

  • How to claim warranty?

    • Depends on the problem and the supplier.

For instance, my Sidewinder X1 had a very noisy bottom fan - So noisy it stopped me from using it.

Sent a video to the Manufacturer (China) they sent me a replacement fan - Was very easy to swap with their instructions.

  • Local stock doesn't work it out. Placed an order on Aug 8, took 3 days to get processed at Sunshine VIC. Now still at Sunshine VIC. Another order placed 2 days ealier from aliexpress shipped from China arrived today. LOL

    • +2

Apparently with stage 4 restrictions, some local Vic mail has been sent to NSW for sorting..

      • Ah that makes a lot of sense, a few of my parcels have landed in VIC, gone to SA, come back to Vic. Interesting.

  • Where is the best place to get decent filament suitable?

I bought a cheap aldi 3d printer which I had no joy with and have hardly used but I bought 5 spare big rolls of pla filament so I'm buying one of these… My original plan for this was custom guitar parts - knobs, pickguards, truss rod covers, output jack covers, backplates, pickguards, and even nuts, bridge parts, etc. depending on how hard they are!! The Aldi printer couldn't get through anything bigger than a simple 2-3cm guitar knob - anything bigger had issues with the base shrinking and becoming rounded as it cooled, then breaking away from the base plate before the print finished…

    • That's why I never buy any thing "serious" from Aldi, like tools and home appliances. It looks cheap, so works "cheap", ended up either wasting your money or costing you more money.

  • well shit i kinda wish i didnt back the recent kickstarter one cause this is almost half the price

    • oof

    • No idea why people even brother backing any kickstarter … just buy the product when it releases to public after reviews.

      • Its always cheaper as a backer. I've bought lots of unique stuff from Kickstarter and saved lots from the retail price or having subscription fees waived for backers.

But I have been stung a couple of times which was enough for me me to get frustrated and close my account to stop be from spending more money.

        • +1

I used to be a big wrap for Kickstarter - Then got burnt 5/6 times.. Yes, you'd think I'd learn..

          The Kraftwerk Hydrogen Power Brick
iPhone sound amplifier dock thingy - Hey ! Now I have an expensive 3D printer I can print my own !
          Backpacks that do everything
          iPhone magnetic power cord adapters
The list goes on, and on..

Oh, the Ouya - Not a failed project, just a failure

    • The CR-6 SE is a more refined unit, and almost plug and play compared to an Ender 3. If you backed it for 319us or below, you did well

timing couldn't be worse on the ender 3 v2 for me. banggood really got me good.

i ordered a 3 pro + glass bed + some PLA from the last deal. Majority of the people who ordered got their orders within the week. Even though every item was supposedly in stock at the AU warehouse, my entire order got held back because they ran out of the white PLA and the glass bed.

2 days ago, my order is still being processed, by then I just got frustrated, so I cancelled my order and received the refund today. I was shopping around again on banggood this morning and saw that the ender 3 v2 was only in stock in the CN warehouse which will cost abit over $400 after GST and delivery. So instead I went ahead with the 3 XS Pro (with v1.1.5 motherboard upgrade 'superseded' by the v4.4.2 on the new shipment of 3 pros) which was in stock in the AU warehouse for $353 including delivery.

Fast forward to now, I see that the 3 v2 is now shipping out of the AU warehouse with free delivery/no gst literally hours after I checked that it wasn't. And this is after I waited 2 weeks for my initial order of the 3 pro to ship.

    • I was in the same boat with the glass bed. I cancelled it last night and got me a biqu b1 for $374 shipped from China. I'm not too concerned where it came from just annoyed 2 weeks later it hasn't shipped yet, even when I asked a week ago to split the shipment.

Kinda glad I bought the biqu instead of the ender 3, as I was going to do all the upgrades the biqu had over the ender3. With my ender 3 and glass bed costing close to $290 this was only a little over $80 more.

My only issue now is I already bought the creality ender 3 bl touch separately and hope this fits the biqu without too much messing around. The only thing that looks different is probably the mounting bracket.

    • Same as me, I bought the 3XS pro as well last week, got it within a week. If I had known, would have held out for the 3 V2 as well as it was same price, but wasn't sure when it would be back in stock in AUS. Oh well still pretty close anyway.

      • +1

Only saving grace about all of this is that there is a much larger repository of upgrades for the 3 pro which could be great for learning how to use the printer before you begin designing Ur own models.

  • Nice but I think my sandwich toaster any get more use.

I signed up to ozbargain to save money. I end up buying things like this.

  • Thanks. Got the Ender V2 for USD259 which came out to around AUD360

  • How much does it cost to print 3D figurines? (I know different sizes will cost more, but say a 30cm tall figure/statue)?

    • I printed a 28cm high Bigfoot for my brother in law and it took 32hrs

Having said that, it was perhaps the 4th thing I'd ever printed, and I had the settings way too high/fine.

      https://www.thingiverse.com/make:744722

      • in regards to cost… There's a calculation around somewhere.

Similar to most hobbies I reckon…

        Power+time+filament-enjoyment=who_cares

He paid for the Filament roll - 1kg Brown PLA cost approx $32 delivered at the time.
That print would have used 20% of the roll I estimate.
I still have the remainder as he didn't want it.

  • Can anyone tell me how this or the Ender-3 V2 compares to the Original Prusa Mini? Thanks!

  • +1

Just thought I will chip in with my 2 cents. I was originally after the Ender 3 V2 from BG but finally decided to go for the Artillery Genius instead. I figured if I go for the Ender 3 or Ender 3 V2 and after some upgrades, the cost would be very similar to the Artillery Genius. The main reasons that make me go for the Artillery Genius are:
    1) AC heated bed vs DC heated bed of the Enders - much faster to heat up to temperature
    2) Come with ultrabase glass bed as stock
    3) Come with direct extruder instead of the bowden tube - not saying that bowden tube is no good but I rather like the direct extruder concept.
    4) Come with silent stepper motors - the printer is very silent to my ears
    5) Touch screen - may not be important to some but I appreciate this feature
Essentially most of the features I would like are already a standard feature so there is nothing I need to upgrade further. I like that as I can then focus on printing the things I wanted rather than continuing tinkering with the printer.

I've cancelled my order with Creality direct (literally nothing has happened with the order for almost 3 weeks now) and purchased the V2 from Banggood.
It's already on it's way and will be here in a week.

Don't bother buying direct is the lesson I have learned here.

  • Don't waste your money, I ordered one nearly 3 weeks ago at the start of the last deal, Banggood send shipping confirmation and nothing's happened.

There has been no update to the tracking, ever. Banggood say they use Aramex (ex Fastway) but the tracking number doesn't work on their web site at all.

I've tried contacting Banggood and they just don't respond.

Aramex/Fastway have a pedigree for being absolutely terrible, this is a new low.

    • Its the same for me. All i can see is that the package has been sterilized and shipped out but I can't even track it.

      • Mine turned up without warning yesterday about 3 in the afternoon by some guy in a small hatchback. He had a scanner, no idea what's going on. About 5pm I got email notification it was on board for delivery…

        • Wow, that's great…Mine is still lost in the ether! Don't know if i'll ever get it…lol

  • Which filament(s) to use if I want to get a golden acrylic like surface finish. Say for example, to print a name. Thanks

  • Bit the bullet on the artillery x1 at banggood. Now need to spend heaps of time understanding the machine, modeling and slicing for my project. Hope it's not a waste of time and money.

  • After procrastinating on purchasing saw there was only 2 left so quickly ordered it ;)

    Banggood
