Creality K1C 3D Printer $459.50 in-Store Only @ Jaycar

630

Jaycar are clearing out their Creality K1Cs at 50% off to replace them with another model.
This is an instore deal only and isn't listed online. My local store wasn't aware of this deal and didn't have any signage up, but it came up with $459.50 when they looked it up on their system. The instore image below was from someone else and the receipt was mine.

I saw this posted on reddit earlier in the week.

K1C is compatible with CFS upgrade kit for multi-filament printing too.

How did you get so many $10 loyalty coupons? are they spend rewards?

    Stock check: https://www.jaycar.com.au/creality-k1c-3d-printer/p/TL4761

    • +1

You get a $10 loyalty coupon for every $200 you spend so they gave me 2 for a future purchase and I already had 1 waiting to be redeemed so I used one up.

    • Thanks for posting it on ozbargain when you saw it…

  • +1

Good work. I tried my luck at my local store yesterday and they said it scanned at $739.

    • Which store? Might save me a drive to check Erina

      • It’s not Erina. But stock is more of an issue so best to call and confirm

    • Shows up at $819 on the website. No way to find out which store(s) has it at this $459.50 :-/

      • +1

It will show you which stores have stock, then you can call up https://www.jaycar.com.au/creality-k1c-3d-printer/p/TL4761

        • Yes, I can see that but the price is still the same as $819. You have to actually call up each store (with stock) to ask the staffs if they have them at $459.50, other people have been told it is scanned at higher prices.

  • +4

Is this better then the other printers commonly posted on ozbargian?

      • -7

        Why is it negged??

        • +30

AI slop, anyone can do this for research and it's not always correct.

The poster really should have taken this response and written it in their own words. It's a huge wall of shit when it didn't have to be.

        • +10

There is more to it than a spec sheet.

          Especially for 3d printers.

          • how easy is it to swap nozzles
          • does it need any mods
          • spare parts accessibility
          • real world performance
          • customer support
          • software bugs and issues
      • Is there a reason A1 was not included in the comparison?

        • It's usually compared to the P1S since it's also a Core XY machine l.

A1 is just as capable but wouldn't do filaments that require an enclosed space like ASA or ABS.

    • +2

It's a decent Core XY since it's been out for quite some time and has had a lot of issues ironed out.

It competes with the Bambu Lab P1S. There is also an upgrade kit to make it compatible with the CFS (their version of Bambu's AMS)

For the price, it's a good buy.

      • -1

I aint got time to tinker and looks like k1c might need tinkering. I want the best hassle free setup and printing.

    • +3

I can't speak for any of the other brands but we have both a K1C and a P1S with AMS combo. The K1C has had a few extra problems than the P1S but nothing that's truly out of the ordinary when it comes to 3D Printers. Both are fairly user friendly. The P1S is definitely the better of the two machines, the print quality is a little bit better, standard speeds generally quicker as well, but from the prints we have done the K1C isn't far behind, but for this price the K1C is pretty damned good. I can't really comment on their multi colour upgrade as we haven't decided whether or not to bite the bullet on it, from some of the reading I've done it has some issues so if multi colour prints are what you're wanting I'd probably pay extra and head to Bambu Labs but if single colour is fine the $400 saving on the Creality would probably sway me if I was buying today.

      • +1

Worth waiting to see if the next Bambu anniversary sale starts.

        • Definitely

      • +1

I was keen on a K series considering my CR10v2 although modded has been great, albeit slow.

Compared to Bambu it seems you’re still in tinker land, which is something I want to remove myself from, life has changed and I just want a press the button and go type printer.

Also this review on the K2 put me off https://www.reddit.com/r/3Dprinting/s/B44Zhjr1Th

        • +1

While they have come a long way since the old Ender 3 days thanks to Bambu's push, the QOL features make the Bambu's just that extra simpler to print with makerworld integration. Especially when the designer has already tweaked the slicing profiles to match the printers.

The reason to go for K1 Max (300x300x300) or K2 Plus (350x350x350) is the bed size

          • @impoze: Thanks for that, just as I expected. I think I'll just wait for the P1S to go on sale, with AMS 2.

    • -5

It's junk. Crapality printers need tons of mods to work right. They are always a beta product and rely on the community to fix them and get them right. If you want something cheap then sure it's cheap but it can turn you off 3d printing. You will be fixing it more than making things with it.

      • Buy if you own a Jaguar.
Jokes, have had an ender 5 since using it for research during COVID times and its been rock solid, so I can vouch for that. And we were doing the VADER project, so that's tollerences for healthcare device level.

Creality have shit at EVERY price point. Literally you pay for what you get…. so perfect brand for Ozbargainers.

  • Wow been out of the game for a while. Now thta we have solar and a separate space, it might be an option again.
Things have gotten expensive, how much does a carbon roll cost??

    • +3

Carbon what? Carbon impregnated PLA, PETG, Nylon?
There are also new Tough PLAs, PLA+ etc. there are more options for filaments.

  • +5

I bought the K1C around this time last year - can't say I'm a 3D printing enthusiast but it's definitely fun to suddenly see something and get the "oh we could use this, I wonder if I could print it" and see an STL for it already created in printables/thingiverse/makerworld. There's also frequent deals for SUNLU/JAYO filament and now I have more filament in different types/colour than I need for the next 2 years.

Supposedly there are some QC issues with Creality printers, and there was a general consensus that Creality printers are "more fiddly" than Bambu Lab ones - but personally other than my extruder clogging due to temps being too high when printing and needing to take it apart to remove the stuck filament (~15 mins?) I haven't had any issues. Probably also a general case of "only people who have issues usually speak up".

In terms of print quality, the general consensus is also Bambu Lab favoured, but to be honest I think adjusting layer heights/print speeds/temps etc. in the slicer should make the differences minimal - and the OP from the post that I purchased from last year said that learning how to slice is pretty necessary no matter which ecosystem you're in (which I 100% agree)

Creality has also recently released the CFS upgrade kit (you can get it from the usual subset of eBay stores for $89-$105 before stacking with a 20% code - still gotta buy the CFS though). It took me maybe 90 minutes to set it up in total, it's relatively straight forward.

    • +2

I have way too many rolls since getting the A1, next project is the 10:1 lego figure!

      • hey you were the OP from that K1C post last year! Thanks for getting me into this - I've printed so many random knick-knacks around the house (god bless gridfinity).

Definitely yet to recoup the costs from buying the printer in terms of all the little things printed but the journey's been fun haha

      • Ah, NFTI.

    • -1

More fiddly? All they are is fiddly junk

    • Part of what people dont' get is that using open source systems is a bit like driving a gokart vs a tesla with self-drive. The beauty of the Creality is that you can mess with ALL the settings. The ozbargain equvilant with be the espresso nerds. Fiddle with grind, pressure, bean, temperature etc.
Some people appreciate this, but at 5am just need caffeine, so get a Jura.

3d prints, particularly FDM, have SO many variables. Even filament roll to roll can vary, and within same batch, if you're in high humidity QLD, you can get completely whacked results by just leaving the roll out exposed for a day. Everything can be compensated for, but most people just want the plug n play experience.

For that I say go resin.

Bamboo overcomes some of this by going fixed ecosystem, but they're on the nose in the community as: they took from open source, then are slowly closing their ecosystem.

Think if Apple had gone and used public knowledge, then slowly closed their systems to where it is now.

For that they've lost my support.

Bought 1 of the 2 remaining from the Rhodes store over the weekend. Stock checker seem to suggest there is still stock there.

Think if it were the same price as the P1s it's a no-brainer to go with the P1s for hassle-free printing. Only real advantage of the K1c seem to be the metal extruder. Been waiting too long for the P1s to drop below 800, but just hasn't happened for the last year or so. At ~$460 think the K1c you're almost comparing to the Bambu A1 in terms of pricing, which is good enough for me to pull the trigger :)

    • P1S may drop soon if they release the leaked H1

      • Maybe, but I would expect the X1C to drop with the expected H1 rather than the P1S.

        • yep, even if P1s dropped a little since there is a lot more competition in the space now

  • +4

Went into store today and it was still half price - but half price from RRP so $499.50 I paid.

Showed the guy at the store this post and they threw in 4 packs of filament to make up for it.

Either way - thanks OP :D

    • nice score

  • +2

Can confirm got one at the op price

  • +1

what is a good entry level 3d printer? I have no knowledge of 3d printers but want to learn. I work in IT so pretty technical savvy.

    • +2

      A1 mini

    • +1

Bambu Lab A1 or A1 Mini if you have a smaller budget but it has a smaller bed size.

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals/bambulab.com

Hang tight to see if they announce the next anniversary sale in the next two weeks.

      For filament - JAYO/Sunlu deals

As an IT professional, you might appreciate the recent 3D printed 10" mini racks like the Lab Rax

    • People will say Bambu is good for entry level but they are tending towards a more closed ecosystem vs other printers.

Creality ender 3 v3 se has been great for me since picking it up from JayCar a year ago based on a deal much like this one. A little bit of tweaking, learning, and trial and error along the way, but that was all optimizations. Out of the box it was plug and play.

Was $250 new but you can probably pick one up secondhand from people like me who are now upgrading to something a bit fancier.

  • +1

Confirming I got the price in the OP. Called up my local JayCar and the rep exclaimed "holy (profanity) that's cheap" 😁

Anyone have any recommended tweaks / slicer settings for this bad boy?

    • Go straight to orcaslicer

Later you can look at setting it up with klipper for more advanced controls

  • How's this compare to the Centauri carbon?

    • Centauri carbon looks like a great printer, but overpriced in our region. Compared to the $299 the US is paying.

      • Approx 460 AUD..

Add taxes and it should be close to $500 not the $699 Australia rrp

  • Got one from the York St store in the CBD, great price thanks!

    • I asked them at lunch yesterday, but they were adamaent it was $819. YMMV

      • That was like my experience in another store, I couldn’t be bothered to push it. Seems to vary with each employee…

        • Yeah, they didn't know about the price, but it scanned as $459

  • Thanks OP.
got one today to replace broken Ender V3. Should be a decent upgrade 😃

    • what's broken on your V3?

  • Got one thanks!

    Upgrading from ender 3 v2

    • you'll love it coming from 3 V2

      • The extruder got clogged and broke off mid print :/

        • spares are quite cheap on aliexpress

      • Im loving it, so fast and clean prints! Just did a quick tpu print and came out well.
The android app is good to which is surprising, normally these type of apps are clunky.

  • Got mine yesterday. Store told me over the phone that it was $499.00, but it scanned at $459.50, and he was willing to price match to this picture even if it didn't.

I'd planned on buying the Elegoo Centauri Carbon, but this was just too good of a deal to pass up, and the price difference pays for a lot of filament and accessories.

After two test prints to get it dialed in, it's been consistently printing quality parts basically non stop since.

I know Creality get a bit of a bad rap, but this is my first 3D printer, and the entire experience from unboxing to printing has been surprisingly straightforward.

    • Nice one, interesting that stores still have stock.

3D printers have come a long way since the Ender days

      • Liked the first one so much, I managed to get a second one.

        https://i.postimg.cc/vB7NmBsh/ISIMG-943149.jpg

        • Wow nice to see your shop is so good about it. I went to my local store even before the deal was on ozbargain. They just straight out denied it and insisted there’s no sale for the k1c. I even noticed they took the price tag down as well but left the machine there.

          • @jaylee88: Mine came from two different stores. The second one was the store demo, but it'd done exactly one 45 minute print.

No problem getting the discount from either of them. Both printing extremely well still, have 57 hours of print time on the first one, and 15 hours on the second.
