I was looking for a Stock Android phone and found this one with decent specs. It has Android one with guaranteed security and software updates.

Got good response on OzBargain last time it was on sale.

Looks like this one has NFC and Band 28.

Unboxing and review here

JB-HiFi selling it for $348

Don't forget 4% cashback, effectively reducing the price to ~$197. I forgot while ordering mine

    • 22 dollars more though :S though i guess if you got the amazon credits, works out about the same price.

mine shipped about a week ago (stuck in the UK Still, now on hold with DHL!!!) so i cant do the same :(

      • These morons still haven't sent my reorder over 10 days later. I am so pissed that I am considering closing this amazon account and never buying through them again.

I'll probably just cancel that UK one and buy the local.

        edit:
Says "SHIPPING SOON. CANCELLATION ISN'T GUARANTEED." so I can't even cancel it and buy the Australian stock. I don't want to end up with two of these bloody things.

Mine said the same thing but was cancelled successfully within 10 mins of cancelling. If you're given the option to cancel, then I suggest going for it.

          • @onlyme: Ah ok, thanks for that but I missed your message and the UK order is now marked as dispatched. DHL has no updates beyond shipping information received but fingers crossed it arrives by the 28th.

Thanks ordered one. My original order from Amazon UK never came, but they offered me $40 credit. So, this turned out to be $204. Hopefully will receive in 2 days this time as its shipped by Amazon AU.

    • Was trying to go for this however my current order has been "preparing for shipment" for 11 days now and can no longer cancel it. I feel like I am going to experience round 2 of the first order all over again.
Edit: I clicked on request cancel and it worked. The support chat/calls are clueless.

      • My order was updated to dispatched this morning at 0555hrs. Same situation as yourself. Expected delivery 28/10.

My second order just landed in Melbourne a few hours ago… Hoping to get it in the next couple of days.

    • Did they refund the difference without issue?

      • yep, already refunded and in my bank account, 41 bux, no issues. that said, the AU version is better… gimme 2 seconds will write about it.

        • Yeah right. My shipping updated and it's now in Sydney, so it should arrive soon. They also processed the refund of the price difference + shipping, so at least this last part of the ordeal was pain free.

Hi All, phone just arrived, as you can see from the following pages there are a few differences.
    https://www.nokia.com/phones/en_gb/nokia-5-3#full-specificat…
    https://www.nokia.com/phones/en_au/nokia-5-3#full-specificat…

namely the Jelly case is not included in the UK version, as well as getting a UK power supply. (both probably not a massive deal) can confirm both of these. I already have a screen protector and case on order though, and will just use an old charger to charge the battery.

I did notice the AU version does not appear to have NFC in the spec though, (though i dont think the father in law will use it - even though his will have it)
that said, this review of the AU version says it does:
    https://www.gadgetguy.com.au/product/nokia-5-3-2020-a-solid-…
and one of the guys who bought the AU Version said it does as well.

so if it does, your better off buying the AU version for 20 bux more and getting the jelly case and AU 2A charger as well as AU warranty.

the UK version does come with 3/4 & 6 GB of RAM, the AU version 4GB, luckily UK version is the 4GB ram version according to the amazon page.
also dual and single version in the UK version, au is only dual sim, (the UK one from amazon should have the dual sim as per amazon add.)

so fairly similar at least. but the AU version seems better value

  • Just got the phone. Dissapointed to see that I still have no reception at home. I was confident that it wouldn't be an issue because my last phone did not have band 28 so I assumed this would work. Stangely a Moto G4 play is fine but the Nokia 5.3 covers all the band specs. Does anyone have any ideas?

  • Just got refunded. If anyone wants a red fitted flip case, PM me.

  • As many others here, my order was damaged in transit and never delivered. I contacted CS and was told to reorder and choose fastest shipping method and that I would be refunded the difference, just contact them when I receive the replacement order. Well I contacted them today, they agreed to refund price difference but played hardball on the shipping, finally they agreed to issue the shipping refund as an account credit.

And I'm not surprised that many of these were damaged, the packaging is inadequate. Soft retail box, inside an even softer cardboard shipping sleeve.

  • Finally the phone arrived without any issues, other than the fact they (DHL) jammed it in the letterbox and took a photo of it as proof of delivery.. The initial $20 promotional credit and then $30 promotional credit Amazon applied to my account for the stuff around both vanished without a trace. They did not notify me of this, I tried to buy something through AmazonAU and the credit was not there. They were pretty salty over refunding the difference between order #1 and order #2, so they must have removed the credits due to this. Overall worst online shopping experience I've ever had.

    • you only see the credit when you buy something from amazons Australia somewhat limited stock (IE cant be a third party) maybe good for hard drives, lucky you, i only got 20 bux credit!

    • It doesn't show up until the last step of checkout. My $40 credit was applied at the last step of checkout. And yes, its for Amazon Australia only.

      • Yeah I made sure it was through AmazonAU and I went to the last step of checkout and it wasn't there. It was a tactical torch for a bit over $50.

        https://www.amazon.com.au/MAG-Instrument-XL50-S301C-Maglite-…

        that should qualify shouldn't it?

Confirmed it shows for me. I get the promotion on that item.

          • @wisc: OK thanks for checking. I bet they removed my credit once I pressed them to refund the difference between the two orders because they were not keen to do it. I'll take a long break from buying anything from Amazon.

            • +1

@[Deactivated]: just hit them up with your records of your conversations with the past guys and get them to add the credit back on, i got both the shipping discount, (and the refund on the order) as well as a 20 dollar credit.
