I was looking for a Stock Android phone and found this one with decent specs. It has Android one with guaranteed security and software updates.

Got good response on OzBargain last time it was on sale.

Looks like this one has NFC and Band 28.

Thoughts you guys my get a kick out of my chat excerpt transcript with amazon
Initial Question: Hello, I placed an order approximately two weeks ago, I was wondering when do you expect the device will be in stock and when do you think it will be delivered
08:42 PM AEST Swathi(Amazon):Hello,How are you doing?
08:43 PM AEST Fred:Good, how are you?
08:43 PM AEST Swathi:I am doing good, Thank You.I apologize for the inconvenience caused.
I see that the order was not in stock but is now back in stock with a different price.
but you will have to cancel the current order and place a new order
no you have not even been charged for you
you will only be charged once the order is shipped
Is there anything else I can help you with ?
08:44 PM AEST Fred: Why would I have to cancel the order if it is back in stock?
08:45 PM AEST Swathi: the price change by a dollar so mostly it might not be shipped
08:47 PM AEST Swathi: would you like me cancel the order ?
08:47 PM AEST Fred: Why was I not contacted at all in this two week period.
Furthermore why is it my obligation to cancel my order?
08:48 PM AEST Swathi: to mak eup for the inconvience i have issued a 10 AUD promo as the item went out of stock incase you do not want to cancel you can wait and see you will receive an email with dispatch details
08:49 PM AEST Fred: But as you stated the item is now in stock. If I wait will I receive the item for the price I originally paid for it?
    08:49 PM AEST Swathi: yes

tldr The phone was out of stock, but it is now in stock for a different price so I'll have to cancel the order and then order it again but its ok they gave me $10

    • Price: $201.81 + $11.29 Delivery

in stock at only 201.81, i should cancel my order, then rebuy at 5 bux cheaper, and use my 10 dollar credit for it ;) save 15 bux for it.

      • Showing today as $206.32 plus $11.29 delivery. The $20 credit that was added to my account can't be applied to this phone because it is supplied by Amazon UK not Amazon Australia. My order from August 21 is still in limbo with no delivery date. I have a flip case for it from eBay but if another phone deal comes up I like, I'll cancel this one and write off the flip case ($9). If the phone is back in stock then earlier orders should be processed and shipped but that isn't happening.

    • Did re-ordering fix the issue? Did you get a notification of shipping?

      • Ultimately I just cancelled the order. If this is the customer service when you place an order, I don't even want to imagine what would happen if there was an issue with the deivce upon delivery. I contacted customer service three times, and receviecd the same contradictions, I'm assuming because they seem to be working off scripts.Included below is an except of the most coherent response that I received after trying email.

"I see that the order was not in stock but is now back in stock with a different price for which reason we request you to please place a fresh order for the same.
I have checked and I can see that there is a shortage in stock for the item and our fulfillment team is currently working with various sellers to procure the product at the fulfillment center.
I can completely understand how annoying the situation can be when something like this happens but believe us it was never our intention.
Though the item is available on the App currently, we are waiting for the new stock to arrive so that we can start fulfilling the orders placed recently."

For what it's worth I ordered the cyan colour, so maybe they can only source the sand colour. But who knows, I don't even think they do!

        • +2

Thanks for the reply, yeah I got the same sort of responses and had no confidence when it would be sent.

I decided to cancel and buy AU stock. Using the $10 (complaint) credit, it is $70 more but still $80 cheaper than retail. Bonus is I get an AU charger and it will be here in 2 weeks (got the standard confirmation email immediately)..

Have had a really good experience with Amazon AU, Amazon UK not so much this time.

@syme321: @syme321: Update .. Amazon Australia, ordered Thursday, got it following Monday (today)

  • I complained again via email and got another $5 credit so I have $25 credit to spend on products supplied by Amazon Australia. The rep's reply said my Nokia 5.3 phone order was in the "ship soon" stage so I'll give it a few more days before cancelling. Maybe I should complain again in 2 days and get more credit? I'd rather see the order shipped though. I need the phone.

Cyan is back in stock at $206 - if anybody else was holding out because of the sand/gold colour.

Glad to see others are going through this. My order has been stuck in the delivery date pending stage. Been in contact with customer support. First one told me to wait. I then asked why I have to wait when another listing says it's in stock, albeit, a great price. He then tells me to cancel and re-order and he will refund shipping cost. I ask if the difference between prices will be refunded. Another rep replies saying I can't cancel cause now being prepared for shipping. She provides a link for this, the link is broken. On my app.the order status hasn't changed.
Not in a real rush for this phone but the debit has come out of my account and it's been nearly 3 weeks so is getting annoying

    • Mine was finally shipped today. Ordered 21/8. Estimated delivery 10/10…

      • It never came! Manged to make a reorder today and have the difference + priority shipping refunded. Such a (profanity) around. Luckily my old phone is still holding on

        • I would have just got the samsung from australia post… also its going on amazon AU for slightly more… but youd get it much faster.

          • +1

@wisc: Managed to cancel the UK version and change it to the AU version via the prime deal.

Wasn't aware of the Samsung! You're right though I should have not given any money yo Amazon. Absolutely hopeless.

    • Congrats! I ordered mine earlier than that. Hopefully this means mine will be shipped soon

  • This order process via Amazon UK is turning out to be a bit if an annoying saga. My order is still in limbo. I have puchased a case for the phone and now the pending payment is no longer on my credit card statement. Time to contact Amazon again and get more account credit to spend on Amazon AU.

    • Yeah, mine is still in limbo. How does one gain account credit?

      • just message them and tell them your still waiting.

        • I contacted them twice. First via email, then via chat. No credit was offered.

        • That's what I've done 3 times over the 19 days since I placed my order. I got $20 then $5 then $10 (today) creditted to my Amazon AU account. It will expire at some undefined point. I may get some ebooks sent to my Kindle with the credit. Or a phone case for whatever phone I buy instead of the elusive one from this deal.

  • +2

I must of got in early, mine has turned up yesterday. Great phone for the money!

  • Ordered 21/8/20, still not shipped 9/9/20. Pretty annoyed really… I sent amazon an email at the end of last month and received a copy / paste response about how stock inventory errors between amazon and their suppliers can occur, plus a bunch of other baloney that was not worth remembering. They gave me a $20 promotional certificate and said they will email me when it's shipped, and that was that.

I'm hoping because its just the order number, it doesnt include tracking other than to say its lodged and it will just turn up some time between now and 30sept.

amazon seem to think its APGs issue now, but it would seem it hasnt been picked up from the factory as yet.

if you click "see all updates" you can get a bit more info:

      "Track package" page still reads:
"We'll email you when we have a delivery date
We’ll ship your order as soon as possible
This usually happens when an item doesn’t have a release date, it’s pre-ordered, or it’s out of stock."

  • Mine shipped via APG_EU_EXPRESS today. Expected delivery date 7th-Oct. Wondering if its coming via sea route!

    • Oct 14 for me! Just got the email, so mine is on the slow boat.

"07/09/2020 15:34 Shipping information received by APG"

no update since then. I rekon im gonna have some trouble with a week and a half to go - and it doesn't arrive…..guess i'll contact them after the 30th when its due.

i did contact them after the first week sitting as shipping information received, but they said id need to contact the carrier… which is bs if they haven't actually received the shipment yet!

    • Same mine is showing as Shipping information received by APG since the 14th.

      • same, but if you look at the amazon order, you can also see its shipped from them, so id say there is just no tracking… mine is due wednesday, so will call them (apglobabl) after that and see where it is.

        • Lets hope it arrives Wednesday for you, let me know if it arrives.

          • +1

@whey4000: yeah, i'm not holding my breath, due tomorrow, will give them (apglobal) a call when i remember on Thursday. (note my tracking hasn't changed at all - just showing as shipping information received from APglobabl and shipping in amazon.)

            • @wisc: amazon is telling me "Arriving today by 8 PM"

still not holding my breath, I have the following message ready to go at 8:01PM (To APGlobal)

"Order number AP1XXXXX is now overdue , its showing in your system as "Shipping information received by APG" (Since 08/09/2020) but on the commerce site as "Package has shipped" as of 3 week ago.

are you able to provide an update as to where this is at?"

looks like they have an international number, i think mynetfone will be a few cents a max to call it, so might try tomorrow night or later tonight if im desperate enough.

certainly learned my lesson in regards to buying from amazon UK, unless i'm ultra desperate.

    message from amazon:

"I have checked the details and I see that last tracking was updated on 7 September, since there is no response we consider that the package to be lost in transit with carrier facility center.
In this case, I will process complete refund for the order value and I request you to please place a new order for the same item with fastest shipping method and once you receive the item we will process refund for shipping charges as well refund for difference amount as well."

    pretty annoyed!

Id highly recommend those with the same message to contact amazon ASAP, as it doesnt look like they shipped them.

    • +2

I can't believe Amazon never shipped them, I thought it was strange how the tracking wasn't being updated. Unexpectedly bad customer service from Amazon

  • I'll give them another go, with priority international shipping, they are going to refund the difference as they are cancelling my order. So I'll end up paying the same and hopefully get it in a weeks time.

    • I wished i had that response back. Instead they told me to wait a week even though they admitted the package was lost.

      • just contact support and get another person

  • These fkrs are hopeless. I emailed them this morning to confirm the phone has been sent and received this:

"I´ve checked in this order, sad to say the order was automatically cancelled on your account for some reason.

I have submitted a report already about this for an investigation, my apology for the inconvenience.

A refund was issued to your VISA on Friday, 2 October 2020 for $220.61. In most cases, once a refund has been submitted, the issuing bank will post it to your account within 2-10 business days. This time frame may vary from one financial institution to another."

They said I can get on chat and reorganise another phone with upgraded shipping to be sent which is more hassle but I guess I will because I already bought a phone case. The phone was intended as a present for a family member so it's been a royal pain in the arse. They also added on another $30 voucher for my inconvenience.

No idea where this cancellation came from but sounds like bullshit to me.

    • damn! another 30 bux, i got like 10 bux! (so a total of 20 all up)
guess im getting the next one sent priority and they are refunding me the discount.

      • just got an automated email that my order got cancelled. No vouchers or anything. This is crazy haha.

      • They were initially pretty reluctant to refund the difference between the original order costs and the current phone price. They said that's why they gave me the $30 voucher, to use on any order other than this one! lol

They did end up agreeing to refund the difference though when I questioned why they made the offer to reorder and then expect me to pay more? They also agreed to refund the costs of the upgraded shipping. Not sure if I still have the $20+$30 promotional vouchers or not.

        • I just got off chat and they said that they could not order it again at the original price due to security reasons and only offered $10 voucher. This is so fustrating as I have a case for the phone already.

          • @primatexD: That sucks. Just a big stuff up all-round by them.

  • As per above, they have offered to refund the difference for mine. So I should get 41 dollars back on the new order. As well as now 20 dollars credit in total for screwing me round.

    New one hand shipped yet.

    • I called them this morning and they cancelled my previous order, processed new order with priority shipping and prize difference $54 refund. They also gave me $5 amazon credit just for the inconvenience (I already had $40 credit in different calls from amazon for this order. So basically $161 for phone after everything. Let's see how fast or slow this one arrives.

      • They still haven't shipped my new order… that was due from tomorrow… guess i wont be getting it tomorrow!

    • meanwhile i was getting stone walled by chat support and got $0 credit and refused a replacement or anything else.

a little frustrating to have waited 6 weeks just to get my money back. I'll give it another go later

    response FYI

so primatexD just keep trying until you get a good support person.

    "Hello Xxxxx,

    Greetings from Amazon Australia!

I'm sorry to hear that your Order No: XXXXXXXXXXXXX hasn't arrived yet. This is certainly not what we want our customers to experience.

To make things right, I have gone ahead and issued a full refund of AU$ 218.17 to your original method of payment. This refund will reflect in your account within 2-10 business days.

I see that you've now placed a new order for this item and its under advanced stages of shipping process, In my effort to make up for the inconvenience this might have caused, I've also issued an additional AU$ 41.31 refund for this order to make sure that you get your new order for AU$ 218.17 (same as your original order). I insist you to please accept this as a humble token of apology from my side.

I have also submitted a feedback regarding this order to the concerned department so that such instances are minimized in the future and our customers receive only the best of our services.

With regard to you new Order No: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX:

Upon checking the status of your order with my resources, I see that your order is already assigned to a fulfillment center and will be shipped out soon.

I kindly request you to understand that given the current circumstances of the pandemic we're facing issues not just with fulfilling the orders but also there are supply side constraints which is the reason why our system is not giving a Estimated date of deliveries for most of the order and even for order that are given a date of delivery, they are mostly far away from what they used to be usually.

To expedite this, I've sent a request form to the fulfillment center that is assigned to ship out your order so that it is shipped out on priority.

As per the update I've been given, your order is soon going to be shipped and is estimate to be delivered to you by Monday, 26 October 2020. This is the maximum time this order would take to reach you given the present special requirements and rules of heat-treatment and sanitation for most of the items in international parcels during entry and exit from a country.

We will send an e-mail when your order is shipped so you can track your package. You can check the most up-to-date status of your order in Your Account, here:

little annoyed as they now have been holding onto 480 odd dollars for a week, for an order that should have been here a month ago, and has required all this stuffing around.

    • I don't have any confidence in them at all now. I do see a refund from my first order in the bank, and I also see the new order as "pending" in my banking transactions. They said as soon as the order is shipped they will process the refund for the difference and shipping costs.

      • Same, however, the new transaction has been sitting in there for a week now and not been shipped. I just don't think they have the product.

It's a poor effort by Amazon. You'd think they would sort this out, there must be a heap of other people contacting them to seek a resolution in respect to the same order. I guess all I can do now is wait and hope it is sent before the weekend.

@[Deactivated]: Had the same issue, contacted APG who advised that they did not touch the item.

After some back and forth Amazon are refunding the original order, I have reordered with priority shipping and Amazon will refund both the shipping and cost varaiance on the item.

            • @humptyhump: Don't hold your breath its been about 9 days and is still not shipped.
Completion date is another month. So two months and I don't think I'm gonna get it.

"We thought you'd like to know that Amazon UK dispatched your item(s).

    "Delivery Estimate: Thu, 22 Oct"

lets hope its not a "soft dispatch" like last time. I'll believe it when i see it in the carrier system. (shipped by DHL) - at the moment its showing as "Shipment information received" as it did with APGlobal.

looks like they are estimating 2 weeks delivery, not fantastic considering its the fasting shipping method.

    • It's good that you've heard something, hopefully it's actually posted this time! No updates on my end yet.
