Was reading the comments on The Good Guys Commercial Access with SunSuper
when I saw kcbworth’s comment
Created an account with YourSalaryBenefits yesterday and just (took about 24hrs) got an email with access to Goodguys Commercial. No need to worry about opening another Super account/ATO or any bad effects. Purely free :)

You can fill in any company you work(or don’t work) when filling the details for YSB. I don’t work for a not-for-profit and did put my company, but got approved without any verification.

Edit:
Worked just now (11.20pm Melb time) on PC, Chrome. Mobile site (Chrome on iPhone) doesn’t look to be working.

        • Did your issue get resolved? I am having the same problem

  • Hey guys, does anyone know if Good Guys Commercial accept Good Guys gift card as payment?

    • +3

      No

  • +44

I don't think we should be taking advantage of this based on the fact that this benefit is not-for-profits. Neg based on this.

    • You’re assuming they NFP is paying to be associated to be with TGG. I’d be highly surprised if that were the case.

If anything the company now has your details after signing up. They would be the one winning here…

      nothingseverreallyfree

      • yea exactly.. potentially more sales for TGG. Noone is worse off teally

  • +3

    Loose lips sink ships

    • +1

Totally agree. Accounts are now being disabled, probably due to this thread.

  • +34

REMOVE DEAL. Listen to some smart advice here and don't to the dodgey and sign up if you are not legitimately from a NFP. Good Karma

    • +2

      Agree

      • +2

        ditto

    • +8

Yep. Great community here but the ugly side is definitely on show. Ignorance to grab a possible bargain. Disappointing

        • -1

I will gladly throw my mother under a bus

          And then claim accident compensation

          • -1

@RSmith: Life insurance pays out more.

        • +2

Did you have a traumatic childhood and were neglected growing up?

          • +1

@arcticmonkey: Yep, a mother who gambled every dollar away, only after she'd bought her supply of weed and made sure she was high enough to not notice what our step father was doing to her children.

            • @Yawhae: After all, she’s the one who carried you inside her for 9 months and endured labour pain to gave birth to you. So even if she did wrong, it cancels out.

    • Jus curious, who loses if a non nfp signs up?

      • I guess the NFP organisation or their volunteers/employees if TGG pulls the relationship due to abuse but… I don't know if the commercial benefits to TGG might outweigh it.

        • +6

Lol TGG will be happy to sell. Also don't conflate NFP and volunteers.

        • +1

Haha you honestly think tgg is providing these prices at a loss out of the good was of their little hearts? They are still making money, they couldn't care less.

          • -1

@brendanm: some people don't understand how the world works. many of them appear to be on ozbargain lol

    • +2

But any time there is a price error or a coupon code accidentally let loose, it's ok to take them to the cleaners?

I don't necessarily disagree with you, but if we shut this deal down we have to shut a whole bunch more down for consistency.

    • +1

Agreed, super one no problem, this one sounds like abuse to NFP workers.

    • Disagree

  • +6

No one is claiming that they, an individual, is a charity or a not for profit entity by filling out this form. What they are merely doing is claiming they are an EMPLOYEE of a not for profit. This is legally a very different thing from falsely claiming charity/nfp status. The employee relationship is a very important distinguishing factor people seem to have forgotten about, or are confused about.

Personally I don’t see a problem with it. Akin to someone who legitimately signed up as an employee of a nfp, left the nfp’s employment but still purchases using TGG commercial every now and then.

    • +10

      Not the same thing.

I don’t think anyone will get in trouble for this, but falsely claiming you work for a non for profit organisation is kinda gross, bargain or no bargain.

      • Why gross? (Or rather more gross than claiming you work at kfc if you don't). NFPs are not some holy institution you sacrifice your life for. People still get psid a wage to work there, just like sny other organisation.

      • i agree. who'd wanna be associated with some of the churches out there.

A deal for Good guys commercial was posted and I reported to mods that it should be categorised as targeted.

The response from the mods was :

    • I mean they support deals to do with piracy so 🤷‍♀️.

  • +13

This is a useful post for people who actually do work for not for profit organisations.

  • +4

I have realised now that the company I work is actually a NFP organisation but it's not listed on those lists. So is that ok?

  • +20

Look at all the virtue signallers claiming fraud, whilst listening to music through their YouTube India sub.

    • +3

      Lmfao

    • +3

That along with the ones using "Family and friends" discount codes and plastering them all over OzB. NFP doesn't = charity or some hard to do organisation..
They're not losing it here. If anything, they're gaining member info and TGG more sales..

  • +4

I do work for a NFP, so thanks.
At some point I expect to be audited on any NFP tax benefit expenses I claim; I have to declare on my tax return FBT amounts.
Personally if I didn’t work for NFP I wouldn’t be going anywhere near this “bargain“, and will approach it cautiously anyway, I don’t want to double dip on my claims. I agree with the “cooked goose” comments above, you have been warned

    • +2
    • +1

That looks like a lot more ethics and thinking beyond "can I say 10 cents by ripping someone off?" so that's not going to fly here.

    • +1

Agree 100%, also work for NFP

      • -1

        Lots of saints here

    • +1

I worked for a NFP for 3 years. I was never audited.

If anything most NFP are scams with the owners wanting to make a quick buck.

      • How do they make a quick buck? Is there a loophole or some kind of tricks?

        • Start NFP, pay yourself and staff above market salaries, contribute back 10¢ on the $ to community, solicit donations from rich people looking for tax deductible contribution, repeat till another NFP takes your business by allowing dodgy contracting with rich donators family to keep more of the tax deduction, shut up shop and use 'experience' in NFP to start another one and repeat.

          • @TheAccountant: I thought owners of NFP are not allowed to be paid any salary?

            • @leiiv: Of course they can, that's where most of their expenses are. And why less the 50% of donations actually reach the cause they were raised for.

  • -3

Look the easiest way is just to volunteer somewhere so you get the access without feeling guilty

  • I wasn't going to do this, but if I am an official member of a non-for profit in Australia, can I sign up for this or is it only for the companies themselves?

  • +8

Funny how everyone suddenly gets so concerned the moment it involves not for profits. If it wasn't everyone would be jumping up and down with excitement.

    • +7

Yeah it’s strange. How often we see people taking advantage of free samples with the comment “don’t need it but it’s free” with many upvotes, yet here people suddenly have a moral compass!

      • -1

Those people are just as bad.

      • +4

The difference is the deceptive conduct.

        1) Asking for a free sample willingly offered by Company X with no conditions.

        vs

        2) Company X offering discounts to only NFP employees, and someone lying about being one of those employees to get that discount.

Both are taking advantage of an offer, only one is being deceptive about it.

And when you're gaining a financial advantage from that deceptive conduct, it moves from unethical (getting a freebie you don't really want), to criminal (getting money deceptively).

I'm surprised this even needs explaining.

    • +8

Also ppl are highly misguided about NFPs. Some are probsbly assuming that people somehow work there fo free. They're organisations just like others. You get paid a wage. I've worked at one. It's run like a business but has more perks. Quite lucrative really. I was no martyr

      • +4

That's right. Many people at NFPs earn a really good wage too. A lot better than others in the same industry.

      • +3

This! I have some clients who work at NFPs. Annual salary about $350k plus super and benefits.

        • +3

Exactly. I have a feeling some people have these images of NFPs being full of volunteers handing out food to the homeless. Maybe a very very very small minority are but couldn't be further from the truth. Nice brand to have though. Better than calling yourself 'Non Tax Paying Organizations'

        • +1

What sort of position pays $350K? What state? Now I feel like a POV on my $130k salary.

  • thanks, works now. (yes. i work for a NFP)
Tried on mobile but the form kept insisting on a field being filled in
That and the t&c linked to a 404 page.

  • +2

the mods cant take this down dummy, given that this could be used by real NFP ozbarginers and it is considered a proper deal, anyone else who feels to apply to try their luck is free to do so at their own risk (not much of a risk tbh) since you can sign up with fake details worst comes to worst they revoke the account. anyways i was looking for a tv and nothing good tbh, ive seen better deals posted here from ebay. pass it and save yourself 5 mins

  • -6

This is meant for nfp and shouldn’t be abused by ozb here.

    • How about NFP employee buys from good guys commercial and flogs the items for profit? Would that be acceptable?

Working at a NFP doesn't mean people become saints.

      • -2

Yes of course it's acceptable they're an NFP /s

OzBargain double standards 101. Now let me go listen to my YouTube India music on my phone that I got through an eBay UK deal.

    • Why? What's the difference to you between an NFP employee and regular employee? There isn't any.

  • +6

I work for NFP, and I wasn't aware of this deal, and I want to thank op for the deal. It is a separate matter that I can't sign on even though my case is legit!

  • +3

I work for a nfp so this was of benefit to me thanks op.

  • +1

Another NFP employee here, and greatful to be made aware of this, thanks, will share with my colleagues.

  • -3

You can fill in any company you work (or don't work)

Taking benefits meant for not for profits is not (or shouldn't be) the OzB way..

    • This isn’t a benefit to a NFP, it’s a benefit of working at one. Different thing. An NFP, and an employee of a NFP, are not charities.

      • -1

That's just semantics, it's still a targetted deal meant for NFP employees only.

        • +2

Report it to mods. I did, and mods didn't agree it was targeted.

        • -1

It’s not semantics. You specifically said that this is a benefit meant for a NFP and it’s not.

          • +1

@ihavecentsnotsense: I meant for NFP employees.. Happy now?

I'm concerned that all these fraudulent claims could cause the providers of this deal to shut it down and legitimate NFP employees will no longer have access (many of which are frontliners).

  • +1

bottom line TGG sells more stuff… more jobs… only loser is the environment really through mass consumption. But heh I come here for the bargains, not the warm green fuzzies.

    • +1

      That’s it.

It’s not like TGG is selling things at a loss.

  • How much is the actual savings ? 10, 20 % ??

    • +1

Probably varies. 1 item I checked was 20% below public sale price

  • Can you register with your personal email or it has to be your nfp company email?

    • Yes. There is no checking.

  • Can someone with access already tell me what the price is for EDV605HQWA - 6kg electrolux dryer?

    • +1

      460

  • +3

It’s interesting how people think this is all “win win”… If that was the case TGGC would be open to the public. They clearly use the service by doing deals with the providers who probably pay to subsidise the system for them, who in turn sell it to you. The winner is you. TGG is having their service devalued (making it harder to sell to more unions or whatever), the salary service probably pays higher commissions, and only YOU benefit.

Not even saying this judgementally. Do as you please, it’s their problem for poor vetting of signups. But don’t act like you’re doing someone a favour lol.

  • i actually work for NFP and didnt know I could get this deal so thanks OP

  • -1

    Hi,
I received a link to verify my email but then i asked to changed password. It failed to do so since it asked me a current password which i have no idea since during register it did not ask to set up password. Has anyone had this issue?

    • +1

Look in the email they sent you. The temp password is in there.

  • Hi,

Anyone able to check the price of this in TGGC please.
    TIA

NUTRIBUL Nutribullet 900 Watt Mega Pack Black NB9-1107AK

  • I ordered the deco m5's yesterday but looks like they are disabling accounts. Not sure what will happen to the order, but I can't login with the TGG account anymore lol guess that's what happens when 5k+ people sign up overnight.

    • Why would they disable existing accounts?

      • Dno, I guess YSB might be disabling illegitimate sign ups. I signed up through this deal, was granted access yesterday ordered the deco's and now can't log in. It says 'contact your administrator'. Maybe it's a different issue, I guess I'll see if the order is cancelled monday.

        • Would really like to know how did this turn out?

          • @bmerigan: Package arrived today. I called earlier this week and TGG store where my order was processed didn't mention anything unusual. I guess they cant see if the provider cancels the account.

  • +2

Good Guys Commercial is no longer as good as it was. The good days are gone. Initially, they had a broader range of products for you to choose from and had better discounts too. But now, you will be disappointed with current offerings. You won't necessarily save anything when you compare with shopping deals from others.
