Sony 7.2ch STR-DN1080 AV Receiver $1149 + Delivery ($0 with First) @ Kogan

60

Around $250ish cheaper than nearest competitor, less delivery cost if not a Kogan First member.

My 10yo Yamaha snuffed it so have been looking for reasonable priced replacement and got me one of these on the way. Most AVRs, if in stock, seem to have had 30% or more increase in price thanks to Covid.

New models no doubt to start appearing in next month or 3?

Can pay nearly half this for a better AVR, Yamaha 685 https://www.zkelectronics.com/compare/sony-str-dn1080/oceani…

Pioneer VSX-934 is half the price https://www.zkelectronics.com/compare/sony-str-dn1080/oceani…

Where can you get these for under $600?

      • Nowhere I can find. Cheapest RX-V685 is around $1k mark…

      • Yamaha has been regularly under <$700 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/product/yamaha-rx-v685

The Pioneer 932/933/934 series have been $500-$600+ on a regular basis.

Not post COVID. All this kind of stuff as skyrocketed.

6 months ago when shops had stock, yeah, a lot cheaper.

Those prices are long gone though until new stock and models eventually hit our shores.

Would have preferred another Yammy or Denon but watching BS movies without the big matching BS sound sux.

Fair point but spending this much on an AVR when HDMI 2.1 model have already started coming out seems not such a good idea.

Yes was $800 mark late last year. Unsure why Sony bump up the price. This model has been around for a while.

This is a very good receiver but I wouldn't ever buy from Kogan

  • Kogan, the famous order canceller, avoid.

  • Not all AVRs have gone up as much as this one. I was about to buy one when they were $850 and for some reason, didn't! Talk about missed out there. These were as low as US$500 and now around US$600 in USA. The RRP on the Sony AU website was approx $1300 then they jacked it to $1749 so a massive jump in price has put me off them. They get great reviews but for $1750, you're better off going a Denon x2600H (on special for AU$1600 in oz). The Kogan price is as good as you'll get and it was $1100 for the EOFY sales but It would hurt too much since they could be bought sub-$1000 in April. spewin.

  • Not a good time to buy receivers now! All price jacked!
Have you considered this - sale finishes in 3 hrs!
