I have these. Dont work well with small leaves like jacaranda. They just clog. Although I'm not sure what would work except maybe a sock..

    Great price though.

Lol thought it was a total of 528m because of the title.

    Title should state 100mm x 920mm

  • Is it 24 pieces at 92cm per piece?

    • +1

Yehhh the total be 22m…. They should change that title

    • Yes, this is for your McMansion with 2km of gutters.

Might also be worth saying "was $205" in the title so it's clearer what the bargain is.

Would upvote this if I knew anything about what this stuff actually costs.

Great until the leaves that stick against it begin to compost.

I have these, and they work adequately, but need to removed and the leaves shaken off from time to time.
I got mine from Groupon on a 20% off day.
Current price is $89 for the 24 pack, so if you aren't in a hurry, I'd suggest waiting for the next Groupon discount (and remember cashback!)

    • Similar here; bought several variants - ranging from stiff galvanised wire to the softer stainless core - for an average of about $5 each.

They've been good overall against eucalypts. Leaves generally just blow away but I've removed them a couple of times a year to easily shake out seed caps and other fines, then sweep out what little remains in the gutter (mostly spillage from removal).

My gutters are over 6m high and block is heavily vegetated.
Without such a product they'd be blocked incessantly and the 'squirt it with a hose' brigade are dreaming; the dense rotting mass that built up required heavy rubber gauntlets and hours of laborious groping to remove, several times a year, plus every decent rainfall.

It's amazing how easily gutters can be blocked by a few leaves but that's a rant for another day.

Rubbish for leaves and garbage.. . BUT AWESOME for birds! If you have colourbond these keep the birds OUT! Tried and tested! I had birds nesting in my roof. I installed these in all the corners and now no more birds.

I'm in the SES and do a lot of storm damage call outs, many of them due to blocked and overflowing gutters. These don't do much and may even make things worse. You still need to get up there and clean out your gutters unless you want to trap leaves and create leaf mulch up there. You also have to pull them out to clean what's been trapped.

You're better off without them. You should still get up there and clean your gutters once a year, but it's easy to do with a garden hose to skoosh away the debris unimpeded.

Don’t think garden hose is going to work with gutters full of leaves… You have to hand pull them out into a bucket. No fun.

      • You still have to do that if you use a product like these brush guards !

        • Less to pull out as the brush guards take up space

          • @MuddyClear: And catch them. It's like pulling hair out of a hairbrush.

            • +1

@banana365: Yeah just bash it against the concrete path and most of it will come out. A lot easier than having to hand pull leaves out of gutters. I’m not saying it’s perfect but I think it’s better.

    • lol once a year and a quick skoosh away of debris.

  • Am glad that there is no tree around my house.

But I still do an annual check. Thanks for the reminder!

I feel like this product can make things worse, it takes up some space of your gutters and slows down the water flow speed.
It might cause overflowing during heavy rain, due to the gutter capacity reduction and slow water flow.

Tried these, took them out after the first Autumn.

They just get covered in leaves lol.

I now use a pressure washer with gutter cleaning attachment once a year, works great and doesn't take long.

  • From a practical perspective is there anything recommended for small leaves?

Thinking the wire solutions would work better than these, just looking to do about 3m below an overhanginh tree that gets clogged with small leaves and I only remember to clean after watching it overflowing in a storm
