Google Pixel 4A 128GB (Unlocked, Just Black) $597 Delivered / C&C @ Officeworks

7210

Long time, no poster!

I am aware that this isn't as low as the Amazon price ("Grey Import" at $544.85) but it's local stock and comes with a pair of earphones as standard!

It was just added on their website this morning and is a bit cheaper than JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, Google etc. The phone has great feedback/reviews!

Specs worth noting: Snapdragon 730G chip, 5.8" OLED display, 12.2 MP HDR+ rear cam, 8 MP front cam, 6 GB RAM, 128 GB internal storage, Android 10 (11 soon), Bluetooth 5.1 (AptX support), 3.5mm headphone jack, 3140 mAh battery, 2 year warranty.

Officeworks are advertising 10th of September as the availability date, which is a slightly shorter waiting time than at some other stores.

Yeah as I understand it getting the new device before shipping your old one is the benefit from buying direct.

  • +5

    $2 off? Not a bargain.

  • +7

All the upvotes and no bargain?

    • Clueless. People up vote expired price errors after the fact.

  • +6

I know $2 off the normal price is not a big deal but this phone is solid value at $600. We've had other very highly upvoted deals e.g. kmart sheets?? where its just normal priced but was just good value for quality products, and I think this falls into that category. Has my upvote.

This is an ad, and no bargain to be had…

    • -1

You're right, Google themselves slipped me a hundred.

      • I knew it!

  • I don't see where it mentions the included earphones? Will every pixel 4a come with them? Or is this a ln office works deal?

    • +1

Only handsets sold from Australia and France will include them. I believe it's something to do with accessibility laws.

    • People really care about crappy headphones ?

      • +1

Possibly if they're hard of hearing and or blind.

These deals are detracting from the purposes of OzBargain

Doesn't a "bargain" typically imply a saving of more than $2 on a $600 item?

    • -1

Is this the cheapest price available on the market for AU stock with AU retailer?
Comparing the $2 saving to the $600 is irrelevant. Shopback and CR both have $2 cashback deals that often get 100s of + votes. The bottom line is the same, I end up with $2 extra in my wallet, regardless of how it got there.

      Thanks Karen….. I mean Calran.

      • Don't make me complain to your boss!!

  • This phone is selling for $349 USD in the US. Australia tax at work again!

    • +2

the sale price in the US often does not include taxes, as each state has their own sales tax. often adds 10-20% to the sale price.

    • +2

      You think that's bad?
      Lenovo Duet $299US/$599AU
      IPhone SE $399US/$750AU

      • It's all a rort. New Scientist magazine $99 USD $299 AUD

  • +2

Meanwhile Pixel 3a is still $649 on google store. Some weird pricing

    • It's been out of stock for a while now.

Checked Google store ( chat), they have no idea how much a screen break repair would cost.
They Just have a contact for 3rd party who will access and then repair.
Apple and Samsung both clearly mention the repair cost of screen break on their respective websites.
    Google is just being EVIL.

    • ironic isn't it that Google removed "Don't be Evil" from it's code of conduct back in 2018

  • Its worth checking if your work has any kind of retail rewards program. I used one from mine to get this for $570 with 5% off vouchers.

  • Anyone who bought one just then from Officeworks can confirm when they will be delivered or we can C&C?

    • +2

Mine is scheduled for delivery 10 Sept. My Google store order was down for delivery 8-9 October, so I cancelled it.

      • +1

Thanks mate! did it tell you the date after you added to cart? Or only like after you had finished your purchase

        • +1

It shows "Estimated on Thursday, September 10, 2020" for me before I even add to cart, I am logged in so it's possible that it's based on my delivery address. C&C should be available bang on the 10th.

Also, I can't fault officeworks for service. When my first Nexus 5 boot looped, JB stuffed me around for weeks with no loan phone while they sent it off and refused a refund for ages under the ACL (according to them, inability to make calls, or even to turn on, isn't a 'major fault').
I bought a second one from officeworks, which also boot looped after 12 months. Officeworks gave me a choice of taking a full refund then and there, or sending it back to LG.

        • That's great to hear, hopefully I won't need to claim warranty with this phone though!

  • +2

i have a s8+ and was about to preorder this but after reading the rumours about the Pixel 5, i might wait. The rumored battery is 4000mah which would be an upgrade from the 2800 mah in the Pixel 4. Im thinking between the Pixel 5, Huawei P30 pro and S10 plus.

  • Anyone found a way to get it from Officeworks (for the 10 Sept delivery date) for cheaper than $597 (e.g. cashbacks, discount cards)? EDIT: Perhaps by getting discounted Coles Group&Myer gift cards…?

Pre-order now showing as unavailable on the OW site. Hope they do go out on Thursday for those of us that got in.

    • I can't see why not! I'm eager to pick mine up.

    • +1

I just got mine delivered this morning, wasn't expecting it until Monday.

      • When did you order yours? Mine says estimated time on Monday as well.

  • +1

Just got my tax invoice. Fingers crossed for pick up tomorrow.

    • So did I but looks like pickup is on Friday.

      • +1

Nevermind, my pickup is ready today!

        • When did you order it btw? Mine just says estimated date is 12th, but called Officeworks to learn they are waiting for stock to come in 🤔

          • +1

@Shresthassunil: I ordered on my deal post date(26/08/2020) at about 4:30am.

            • @Calran: Thanks. I ordered mine on 01/09/2020. So hopefully will get it soon as well. How's your first impressions?

              • +1

@Shresthassunil: That's not good they haven't shipped yours.

Two friends of mine ordered on the 15/9 when it came in stock for a few hours or so and received theirs on the 17/9 by courier, it was shipped that day.

They shouldn't have done that if all their preorders weren't fulfilled.

                • @hamza23: I tried calling customer service.

Got told it's on back order 🤷‍♂️. Website was showing "in stock" when I ordered. Dunno.

                  Hopefully, will get it soon.

              • +1

@Shresthassunil: It's excellent, it's everything I need in a phone and I have hardly any complaints for this price point even though I'm a bit of a phone snob. I will say the phone is almost too light and feels a little delicate, a good case fixed this by adding some bulk for added piece of mind, grip and comfort.
The battery life is better than I expected from the advertised capacity, screen is clear, vibrant and responsive. The lenses are brilliant for this range and works well with the cam software. I was prompted to upgrade to Android 11 on day one and it's been pretty flawless so far.

                • +1

@Calran: Thanks. My only concern is with the processor 730g. But I dont really game on my phone. So shouldn't be a problem hopefully.

                  Can't wait 😀

Some stores have stock again for click & collect, but you'll have to wait a few weeks.
