G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 64GB (2x 32GB) CL18 3600MHz A$334 + Free Delivery @ Newegg AU

650

The cheapest deal within the country I have seen recently is the last Shopping Express deal on 3200mHz CL16 1X16GB @ $79 + shipping.
This will be great for someone wants 64/128GB RAM for their AMD 3900X or 3950X or threadripper for professional work.

Fair warning: I've bought these twice now from NewEgg, and they ship in a bare bubble mailer with no rigid protection except for the plastic packaging. The first lot had one stick that was DOA…. had to organise an RMA. Basically the complete opposite to amazon who ship just about everything in an oversized box… 😆

    • Another warning regarding Newegg (USA): bought a $550 RAM set (G.Skill Samsung b-die) and they failed to tape the bottom of the package. Someone opened the cardboard flaps during shipping to remove the RAM, then sent it on to be delivered as an empty box. After asking for evidence (which I provided), I've heard nothing for a week. Getting the run-around from UPS/Auspost. All because Newegg didn't secure the box properly for shipping. Products seem fine but shipping and packaging leaves much to be desired.

  • Great price, hopefully can push it just a little further to 3733 to match the infinity fabric

    • I have the 3733 ram kit, and feel just the same as 3600

  • What do you do to need 64GB of RAM?

      Virtual machines, two or more.

    • Lightroom and photoshop with lots of layers (eg stacking for astro photography), with a few dozen chrome browser tabs open as you follow the tutorials…

  • That is a lot of GBs…

I'll bang these into my Pentium 4 good as new

  • Thoughts on these for a next gen system?

I'm itching to buy parts for a new build when Zen 3/Big Navi are released.

Already got the PSU sorted (RM850x).

Thinking memory next but not sure if it's worth buying now or waiting? Is it likely that new modules will be released?

Planning a build for the next 8 years so 64GB seems about right.

    • If you are buying 64Gb of Ram just to be future proof I suggest go with 2x16 GB and just upgrade along the way to benefit from better prices.
Choose a good motherboard and PSU and upgrade along the way. This way you can have a reasonably good system for all the 8 years. Also Make sure you stick to AMD so that you don't have to throw away your motherboard but rather just upgrade the CPU after a few years.
Make sure your motherboard has support for two graphic cards as it seems like it will be the way in future.
      Just my 2 cents

      • Fair point on the 2x16GB, sounds like the better alternative to committing straight up.

Got any more info on two 2 GPU's being the norm in the future?

I was under the impression they fell out of favour in recent times due to not being as optimal as a single GPU.

        • I am certainly not the one to give advice on graphic cards but watch this on minute 6:00 :

if you did some research and come up with a good motherboard to support that let me know cause I am on the same road ;)

Ignore what I said about having dual GPU.
just put a 3080 and you will be future proof haha. good time for consumer

Do they even work without RGB? How will you know?

  • I definitely do not need 64GB of ram for my 3900x build. But since when did need ever amount to a reason not to buy an Oz bargain !?! Also can't wait to try out that left handed screw driver I got for a steal the other day!!

    • I have 64GB of ram for my 3900x build, join the club!

    • +2

      Not the same.

    • Pretty sure 32 < 64. Lemme open excel and check…..
      ….

I thought that would be the Xiaomi 34" monitor lol

  • I saw this deal recently, but the shipping kinda kills it for just 32gb (which is already pretty overkill for most people)

    • You know that this is for 2 x32 sticks? So 64GB. And free shipping?

      • Yeah true, my bad, I mistook this for the 2x 16gb that were $170-180, which if doubled was also around this price with free shipping

I picked up 64GB (2x32GB) Patriot Viper sticks for $339 earlier this week on Amazon, but only 3 units when I found them and sold out now.

Great to see 64gb coming down now :)

  • Nand and ram prices are said to be on the way down (covid hoarding).

If you don't these right now I'd suggest you wait for a couple months to see what's going to happen.
