Boost Mobile Are Thiefs and Liars

boost mobile are thief's. I was told by the live chat consultant that I will get data carried over if I recharge anytime before my plan expires so I recharged today. I had still 1 month in my post paid plan and 57g of data which I lost. You cannot call and speak to anyone at boost and the live chat team don't know whats going on. I have been speaking to livechat for the last 3hrs and they have changed operators 3 times and everyone is confused. Now all of a sudden I must bear loosing 1 month and 57g. That's nonsense. Don't purchase boost mobile ever. Bunch of liars. I will look for the relevant authority and be speaking to them.

I don't think he goes far enough tbh. He needs to rid the world of their weak bloodline, destroy their farmland, salt the earth, divert rivers through their homelands. Never again shall the company name be uttered out loud.

    Lodge a TIO complain.

@Madiba: I don't mean this rudely, but if you're going to put a complaint in, do double check your spelling and the tone of the message before you click send. A calm, collected, factual account would go a much longer way than a childish finger pointing rant.

@Hybroid: You right. Thanks for the guidance. Will correct my spelling and be calm in my tone. Sorry guys just got all excited

Boost Mobile offers data rollover on all its $30+ prepaid plans. Recharging any of these plans with $30 or more before they expire will roll over any unused MBs or GBs to the next month, but that's as long as they'll last. After the first rollover, that data will expire as normal.

The data should have rolled over. I believe they display the rollover data differently to your included data included with the current month's plan, which is a bit confusing.

Have you gone to http://care.boost.com.au from your phone and "Check your balance"? Rollover data should be at the bottom of the page.

You'll get a notification "your data is less than 5Mbytes" when your ROLLOVER data is about to run out, before you're switched onto the current month's data, which may give you a heart attack at first but you don't need to worry if the "Data" column in your balance is still showing the full amount of data.

    • Thanks. I have gone online and it shows my current data expires 21/09/2020. Hopefully it will roll over, however my new plan has already kicked in as of today which means my old plan was meant to finish on 21/09/2020 but finished of today

      • +4

So you changed your plan? I suspect that changing your plan is what has caused you to lose your 57Gb.

    • +18

check again, rollover is only on the 28 day plans, the 6/12 months plans don't have data rollover.

  • Im on boost, its $150/per year?

    • yes $150

      • +21

The 150 plan doesn’t have roll over, only the monthly plans do.

        • +1

Yeah this is clearly what's gone wrong.

If he challenges for refund it's going to depend on exactly what was said regarding the support staff's possible failure to check/query the plan or the OP's possible incorrect description of what plan he's on.

I've had no problems with Boost besides some nuisance incorrect and somewhat disconcerting "service expiring / recharge required" type messages at seemingly random times, once a few days after I recharged and again at some much later date possibly ~30 days (I'm on a 365day plan). But I've also never tried to use their customer service besides the initial Telstra port which went much faster than they advised (but that was pre-covid).

    1st Mistake.

    • So I don't forget in a months time and lose my data. Boost operator said its all good I can recharge now which was misleading

      • i think you need to first figure out how boost operator works

        https://stackoverflow.com/questions/2958142/how-do-boost-ope…

      • There's auto top available so you don't need to worry about it expiring and losing your number. Pretty sure only month to month plans offer data roll overs these days.

You didn't use the data last time around - what are your plans for next year that upsets you?

    • No more home internet from next week

      • oh no…that sucks. What do the TnCs say for this plan?

        • Not entirely sure but I think the TnCs states 28day plan only roll over data. Hence I was misinformed. Error on there part which needs to be honoured

          • @Madiba: up to you to read the T&Cs as well. You agreed to them.

          • @Madiba: 'I was misinformed'

I think you misunderestimated the quality of the Boost sales pitch

'yes we can !' - (take your money)

you got a problem with that … ?

    • +4

I'd be pretty annoyed if 57GB of data i paid for disappeared, especially if i was having a rough time being unemployed.

      • I lost about 67GB on my 1yr Boost prepaid plan recently - cos I'd only used about 13GB of the 80GB in 1 year - mostly at home

when I did the math - renewing another Boost 1yr prepaid 80GB for $150 was still worth it for me at $12.50 per month - as most other plans were at least $25 per month and I didn't need the data I didn't use

and - we tried TPG Mobile - but it dropped to no signal outside cities - so yeah nah I'm back with Boost

  • +7

Data rollover is only on the 28 day plans as shown here

    https://boost.com.au/plans/#28Day-Expiry

The long expiry plans don't list data rollover

    https://boost.com.au/plans/#Long-Expiry

I had still 1 month in my post paid plan and 57g of data which I lost

What you did was a short recharge, when you do this, you forfeit any 'time/data' left, which in your case was 1 month etc.

This is shown in the T&C on the boost website

    RECHARGE EXPIRY
Recharge expires on next recharge or recharge expiry date, whichever is earlier.

As for the data rollover, you'll find that is the MONTH to MONTH plans as shown above, you said in another comment you recharged with the $150 yearly plan. So no data rollover on them.

The question is, since you are unemployed (your words), why did you recharge early?

my new life mission is to let australia know what horrendous service I have been given by boost

Sounds like user error to me.

    • +1

The boost operator had told me to recharge before expiry so I dont forfeit my data. I wasn't aware of any data roll over before speaking to boost mobile :-)

Not user error, I was misinformed

      • +2

Only the 28 day plans have data roll over. Did you tell them you had been recharging on a 6 or 12 month plan?

Not user error, I was misinformed

        I'm seeing a pattern forming…..

        • -3

After doing some research this evening yes you right about the 28 day plan and yes they knew perfectly well which plan I was on so I think it may be a lack of TnCs knowledge from boost staff

          • +1

@Madiba: As per Jimmy question, Did you tell them you had been recharging on a 6 or 12 month plan?

      • the misinformation did not result in you losing something to which you were entitled.

If you were told, for example, you didnt have to recharge for the data to roll over, so you didnt recharge and lost your data - that would be a problem.

But being told you would get something when you actually arent entitled, does not my friend, warrant a TIO complaint.

you havent lost anything, you just didnt get something you weren't entitled to.

      • 'Not user error, I was misinformed'

yes a good rant usually starts with 'it was the other person's fault'

which strangely concords with my definition of a L … oser

'all my crappy life problems are someone else's fault' …

  • +4

AFAIK Boost don't have any postpaid plans, it's all prepaid, but you can opt to have it auto-recharge.

I was a bit disappointed with Boost's service earlier this year regarding transferring data as well, I found out they only bank data that was added in the previous month's top-up, not all unused data.

Ended up cutting my losses and switched to Belong since they have unlimited data banking. Bought a $40 starter kit for 1/2 price at Woolies, used a referral code for $20 added to my account, and you also get double data on the first billing date. I set my account up with the 40GB plan, so in just over two months I have 120GB added to my account already for only $40 total. This post helped me figure it all out: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/554460

I wanted this deal for the international calls to Africa which makes it worthwhile. Didnt think it would be such a headache.

      • -1

yes reading the fine print to discern the difference between plans can be such a headache

have you tried google translate from English to Swahili ?

umejaribu kutafsiri google kutoka Kiingereza hadi Kiswahili?

  • Are you sure? I did the same today and I see my new data allowance 80GB as well as the leftover from the previous.
    Screenshot

    • yeah, but it seems like your leftover 8MB is expiring next month - which could be the expiry date of your last tenured recharge

      • Yeah, that's correct. So I'm guessing you were expecting the 57gigs to be available for the duration of the new recharge (i.e., 12 months)?
Anyhow, I never found their customer service to be any good. But it is cheap, so can't complain.

        • So i had been told via livechat. I also lost 1 months worth of calls. If I knew better I would have only recharged on expiry and not before.
