If you're in the market for walking poles, I highly recommend these. They pack down to a small, convenient size, and are light but strong. This price is about half of what you would pay in your local outdoor equipment store.
Make sure you have the correct size though. The Black Diamond website has a useful guide for choosing the correct size.

    • Nah at the moment BDs distributor is actually discounting their range.

Still cheaper than most, but almost all the 2018-9 season is discounted right now in most stores (snowy/wildfire/paddy etc).

Hopefully this isn't a bad sign from the distributor, they haven't loaded the 2020-1 season stuff yet or the newest BD Distance range…

      • Must admit, haven't looked in local stores for BD poles for some time, so my pricing was based on last purchase.

      • My comment was based on the original post, when the price was $52.66. This is less than half of the current listing.

Nice find, going by the sizing though I need the 120cm length. :(

    • Depending on your needs, if you do a lot of uphill, take a size down and 110cm would be a good choice for you.

      • If you do a lot of uphill, you generally do the same amount of downhill. I've still got the same pair of Leki poles I bought for 25 years ago. The adjustability makes them perfect for hilly routes.

        • We've also got Leki poles also from a walking trip in 2000. The advantage of the Black Diamond poles is their size once packed down. The Lekis needed to be disassembled to get inside a medium sized suitcase, but no such trouble with the Black Diamond poles, I think they could easily fit in a carry on sized case. I guess this is only useful if flying, and needing to take walking poles.

  • These seem popular on Amazon, are they a worthy more affordable option?

Perfect to poke people to keep social distancing

    • i find eating baked beans to be effective at social distancing

    • Need 150cm version.

  • I was thinking of buying one for my gf. We go hiking occasionally. She has bad knees. Are there any good ones that are adjustable and more affordable that's worth the money?
