I like that they have to exclude children's toys from the trade in deal
(just trying to imagine a shmo walking in with their 3 y/o's kmart drill expecting to get a $100 trade in - with a straight face!)

  • +2

So you can trade any tool brand skin and get a $100 discount, regardless of trade in value? Goddamnit Victoria…

  • +3

Cheers finally can find a new use for my old Black and Decker 10.8v drill i got from Masters 5yrs ago for $30 :D

  • Are any of the 15 redemption tools a deal at the individual price less $100? Or only worth buying these in a kit?

    • Unsure what you mean by the second question, but to answer the first, I’m no fan of job site radios but the rest heck yeah they’re a great deal. Especially that 54v circular saw it’s a freak. So powerful

  • Was waiting for another one of these, the one last year was a ripper as you could stack other promos they had running.
As usual dewalts website is a cluster f* of 404 broken links.

  • So would any no-name brand power tool be accepted? Can't seem to find the list of participating retailers on the dewalt site, assuming bunnings would be included?

    • I haven't looked at all the sellers yet, but to answer your first question, any no-name brand tool.

    • Bunnings is included, here is the link to the deal on DeWalt's website: https://www.dewalt.com.au/tradeintradeup

States that all Brands are included so I went out on Gumtree and FB Marketplace and got 3 drills for 10-15 each, $300 value I'm hopeful to trade in tomorrow!

      • Nice, what are you looking to get?

  • +2

Gotta be honest, last years was wayyy better. They had garden tools and the like (eg the bigger blower) and Sydney tools didn’t even want your old tool, they just wiped $100 off.

Way overpriced even with $100 discount.

    • Are you an ozito man ?
Dewalt is great and good value even without the $100 off

      • +1

yeah I don't get that. Yes DeWALT are pricier than others (but not all!), but you do get what you pay for. I use many brands and $100 the above items is an awesome deal for me. No brainer. But I already have quite a few of them on the list :S
Might try for the multi-tool though.

  • DCS 575 54v circ saw is a beast and is one of the tools that really benefits from the higher voltage.

Fortunately I have plenty of flexvolt batteries from last years $100 trade in deal when these were included in the redemptions as opposed to the much less useful hoodie they are offering this year.

    • yeah I wish there were better redemptions. I've actually got 4 hoodies coming :S

Also a 575 owner, it's an amazing saw. Paired with their M class dust extractor (the big one, not the Flexvolt one), it's a great combo

      • I'd just been searching for info on the effectiveness of the dust port, good to know its not just cosmetic!
As much as I'd like a trade standard dust extractor as an amateur I suspect I'll have to make do with hooking up to my Metabo workshop vac/dust collector for a while yet. Its not perfect but massively better than nothing.

        • Dust still escapes from the bottom of the plate but it’s such a small amount it’s a non issue.
You should see how the planer works with the dust extractor. Planers make crazy amounts of dust and chips, but when the extractor is connected, at least 95% is taken away.
Really wish I’d invested in a good and safe dust extractor in the beginning, they’re easily worth the asking price (plus DeWalt give you a $400 angle grinder on redemption, even better deal)

  • As somebody uses a drill a few times a year, is the hammer drill worth it or should I just stick to ozito? (Have a corded hammer drill I barely use but my other cordless unbranded drills have batteries that are all dead/dying)

And do noname brand batteries work ok with these?

    • you don’t need hammer drill for daily usage even for small jobs.
No but you can get fake batteries on ebay which I don’t offer as they’re expensive enough.

Wish Makita would do something like this. I'm in need of some new skins and have a few old cordless tools to trade in…

  • Does the trade in tool have to be like for like? or can I trade in a cordless drill for a cordless router?

    • +1

      Yep it’s a free-for-all

I traded in an old drill for a multi-tool
Doesn’t need to be like for like

Edit that router is great btw. I have it with the plunge base accessory. Plunge base is okay if a little stiff but the router is awesome. Really great design and build

      • That's awesome, the previous ones I'd seen had to be like for like.
Yeah it's a great router I've used a mate from works, will be picking one up tomorrow.
