I added my NRMA membership number but its not taking any further discount off?

"Product is excluded from the SYCS discount"

Can someone PM me their RAA number? My NRMA membership number doesn't work.

    • Strange ! I used my phone if that helps.

      • +5

If you can lend me your phone after imaxsameer is finished with it that will be great

        • I tried ordering off my iPhone (via Safari) same result.

          Edit: Worked, thanks OP!

          • @imaxsameer: How im getting that SYCS error on my note 10 using chrome

          • @imaxsameer: Tried all browsers on my iPhone, Chrome, Safari, Edge, DuckDuckGo none of them worked with the NRMA number. Might only work with RAA?

            • @Eldin: There seems to be an error, just select RAA number and put your NRMA member in!

Don't forget to claim 2% cashrewards.

              • @imaxsameer: I did that and the price actually went up .. lol

              • +1

@imaxsameer: Hi mate, that seemed to have worked. Needed to select RAA and used the NRMA number.

                • @Eldin: This has worked for me. Select RAA and entered RACV number.

                • @Eldin: Didnt work for me. Anyone got an RAA number to share?

                  • @jOhn-e: Try my solution below.

                • @Eldin: Hey guys, i am in NSW my one doesn't work any suggestion

          • @imaxsameer: Tried both safari and chrome on my iPhone. Still doesn't work. I'm using an RACV membership though.

Honest question: what is the appeal for this dashcam over Ozbargain's favourite brand - the Viofo a129 etc., which is 200 to 300 dollars cheaper?

    • +1

Hey! I’m in the same position as you. I currently have the a129 duo in my car , it was installed by myself and found that with my front mirror it extends out pretty far out so I had to put it on the side which means my field of view of my camera doesn’t capture the entire front.

I’ve got this based on video reviews etc and I think repco offers installation so I might ask them to install it for me and hardwire the camera

Edit: I’ve found that the VIOFO does its job well! It’s clear in the day and night . I’ve just decided to pass it to my sister and upgraded

      • installation is pretty easy. If your going to hardwire, make sure you get fuse taps.

      • +2

Where on the boat do you install it?

        • +3

On your steering wheel to monitor how you boating :)

I've got a a119v3 installed in one car and thought I'll check out the hype of blackvue and got a 750 on a new car.
I need to say I prefer the viofo.

I'm assuming the video quality would be better on the blackvue (havent actually compared side by side) but with the blackvue having no screen or buttons, everything is controlled by the phone app.
Each time you 'save' a setting, it either needs to reboot or formats the SD card.
Also, the wifi is always turned on so my phone automatically connects to it meaning no net on my phone, unless I remember to turn off wifi.
Lastly, there's no button to lock the file its recording so need to scan through it all on your mobile figuring what you wanted to save.
I've got alot more complaints about it so those are what I can think of from the top of my head only.

So either I'm a noob and using the blackvue totally wrong, otherwise the viofo wins hands down for me….

      • the wifi is always turned on

Press the big button next to the SD card slot to turn on/off wifi

        • Yea except you gotta do it every time.
I just get in the car and drive off.
The times I do remember to do it when I get in the car, the device is still booting up or switching out of parking mode!

          • @blacknwhite1:

except you gotta do it every time.

No you don't. It remembers its last state

      • +3

Seriously, you can select a wifi signal to not auto connect and phone wont do it. Not that hard. Try forgetting the cam wifi and connect again with option not to autoconnect.
Blauvue wins for its capability for power magic and recording when car is stationary.

        • I thought viofo dashcams also have the hardwire capability and recording when car is turned off ?

          • @profeeder55: Optional extra unless your cigarette lighter stays powered all the time

        • +1

I've always noticed that button and have always thought "why the hell would I wanna click not auto- connect"…..

Now I know! Thanks. Feel like I've been such an idiot! :S

    • Viofo a129 is a decent setup which I use coupled with the power magic pro linked here

  • I tried purchasing using an NRMA road side membership numbers and did not get the 15% on top for the DR900S, so I paid $559.30.

Not entirely sure why it didn't work, I tried two different road side member numbers as well - mine and my fathers neither worked on the extra 15%.

I might speak to Repco tomorrow when they open, is there any information on this anywhere confirming the additional 15%?

    • Hi there, it’s purely coincidental. Maybe was an error? Cause I’ve purchased some bowden products and entered my raa number, it says was excluded too. However I’ve tried it today and it worked even for the Bowden product ..

  • i tried with my RACV card, it did not worked.

    • Try using your phones browser. Someone did the same and it worked!

    • The form says "The card number should be of 10 characters". My member number is only 7 digits.

      • They want your card number, not your member number. On your RACV actual physical card, theres the full card number.

        • I used my member number. Mine has 8 digits though. Selected RAA, and entered my 8 digit member number (not card number)

          • @acx: Omg thanks, it worked.

Definitely can't understand a dashcam at either $560 or $480.

    • +6

You want good quality build and recording. To be spending this much is worth it, to save yourself the hassle in the future.

I've had the cheapest (Blueseasky? Off amazon) fail, mid range (street guardian) again fail or corrupt memory cards, most expensive (Blackvue and Thinkware) not fail on me.

I was involved in a hit and run. Dude changed lanes and hit my car, showed the coppers the dashcam footage at the station and they got him to give his information to me. If I didn't have that dashcam, I would have been out of pocket with my excess.

      • -2

Quality is a must but, $500 means the price of a gpro, or a dji osmo pocket. Do you really think this dashcam has that much high tech to support this retailing price?

I've been using a full HD 32G one for 2 years, all good. costed me equivalent to $60. Took quite of lot of travelling road video with it. Although this one is 4K twin camera, for a single camera 4k the reasonable price should be in $100-150. Twin cam plus $50 max. Above that I will consider it overpriced.

        • +1

I have a GoPro hero 7. It can't read licensed plates at night due to headlights illuminating them.

No matter what I do with the settings, it's a crap shoot. So I'd have to take the footage, stick it in a video editor and try and reduce the highlights on it and hope to get a licensed plate out.

Far quicker and easier to buy a dedicated dashcam tbh.

        • +1

A gopro or action cam will not pick up plates as said by Ankor. Its each to their own. There are features that I wanted and I spent that much to get said features.

If I was to drop another $500 plus on a dashcam, i wouldn't hesitate. How else will I protect my high yield investment?

          • @Deuce: I bought the GoPro for a trip and then covid happened. So I'd hoped the GoPro could do double duty as a dashcam in my 2001 corolla.. /shrugs

  • Hi Guys, Can anyone message me their member code please? I put my Ract member and it didn’t give me any discount. 15% off is quite a big discount for me. Cheers

    • +1

same here, tried with both my NSW NRMA member no and didn't seem to work. anyone who can share usable no would be very much appreciated. thanks

      • Try selecting Raa and type that in

        • no luck, it's showing me as The member/card number entered is invalid. Please check and re-submit.
However, when i tried NSW with the member no it's accepts it, however its shows me with the msg as "Product is excluded from the SYCS discount"

    • Ignore

I got the DR900. Built quality is excellent but their app is terrible.

  • +1

Ok guys. Figured out how to get the pricing.
Go through your cashrewards app and do it from there.

    Select RAA
    Enter member number
    Check price.
Change store if it doesn't work.

Price did come up for me. But is this the lowest It has been? Looking to get it with PMP.

Or should I wait for new model out?

    Let me know

    • I got it with pmp. I’ve been monitoring it for a while now. Few months and this seems the lowest .

    • Thanks but unfortunately that did not work for me.

    • my NRMA number has 9 digit, and it reject it if I select RAA, asking for 8 character number.
      Anyone has an unused number?
      Thank you.

      • Just remove the last number on the 9 digit nrma number.

      • 1122211

        Try that.

I went through the cashrewards app and internal browser in that. Showed up ok but won't show up in Chrome.

Any tips or helpful hints when having this unit? Got it with the PMP, how long is the wiring for it as my battery is in the boot.

  • +5

Solution! For those having issues with the "Product is excluded from the SYCS discount" message.

    1) Select RAA
    2) Enter your (non)RAA number (I used RACQ)
    3) Delete the excess digits, leave the first 8 digits only
    4) Success!

May have been coincidence, someone else give it a shot?
Don't forget to use Cashrewards also!

    • This worked for me. Didn't go through with purchase though.

    • +1

Thanks mate, i used the last 8 numbers of my RACV card number, worked a treat!

    • This worked! Thanks

    • You. Are. A. Legend.

    • Can't seem to get it to work. Selected RAA and entered 8 numbers from my RACV card. It says it has been applied successfully, but the price stays at $559.30. Tried on PC with Firefox, Edge and Chrome. Tried on Android with Firefox and Chrome.

      • +2

        Stacking ended last night.

  • Anyone have and RAA or NRMA number I can use for the 15% discount?
    Would be awesome

    • +4

Any 8 digit combination works for some reason on RAA lol, so just put any 8 digit combo and it'll work.

      • When I did this the price increased higher. How to get it down to $479?

        • +1

I'm not too sure, but I just tried the following and it worked:

          1. Select the store you want to purchase from / get delivery from
          2. Clear your cart and remove any club discounts / coupons from the cart.
          3. Add the dashcam to cart.
          4. Apply your RAA code and it should update to $479.

That just worked fine for me when not logged in.

  • But the RAA discount is only 10% additional

    • RAA definitely gives 15% off (or close to get it for $479) for the Blackvue atm, might be a different discount around the website on other products.

  • +1

Anyone having the issue where they put in an RAA number and the price goes up? Removing the original 30% off.

    • +1

      Yes i get that too.

      • I got it to work on chrome browser, wasn't working on firefox for me.

        • I am not having any luck. Can anyone confirm if this works on Safari?

    • I get this too.

    • It seems like Repco has been updated their website, It worked 40 mins a go, while I tried again just now, It's just showing 10% discount instead of 30%.

  • perfect last 8 digit of my RACV worked, thanks alot.

  • I heard you can buy a $1500 cam, let me know if interested.

  • Took out the last few digits of my RACQ membership numbers, and worked. Thanks OP.

Any idea if Repco offers installation or for a fee?

  • Thanks OP! Great deal on these.

Why not use your old cellphone as a dashcam? It is a lot smarter (so you can install a number of apps and settings), you already have sd card and charger, and any issues like broken screen or sound don't matter.

    • Because people don't want something covering the whole windscreen lol

      • -5

Sorry kiddo, I was asking big boys with real cars.
My current phone will be my next dashcam definitely. Without spending a cent on that.

  • Party is over for additional 15% off

    • yes, they have updated their website. ;(

      • I was never able to get additional discount. It was either 30% off or 15 % off with card number.

    • Thought so. I've been trying with different browsers for the last 20 mins with no success.

      • +1

Yeah I tried for 45 mins but it kept increasing the price from sale price.

  • +1

Tried all the RAA tricks and my legit NRMA number, phone & computer, always get "Product is excluded from the SYCS discount"

Repco's website is rubbish, I've never had my code accepted.

    • Also having the same issue with my NRMA number. If I could also get someone's RAA number via PM that'd be appreciated, thanks.

  • Is there a difference between this (Blackvue DR900) and Blackvue DR900S ?

    • +1

Repco just leftout the S in the header for some reason there's only the DR900S

  • +1

Do you guys reckon it's still worth buying at the 30% off?

    • -1

yes. u get what u pay for.

  • Worked

    • Looks like it was fixed last night? How did you get it to work today?

  • +3

I don’t think 4K is very necessary here as I’ve got the 750 and it is clear as day

    • The 750 is better. 900 overheats and night quality not as good.
