This seems a better deal from Amazon - Piece of mind.

    • +3

      And possibly faster shipping

  • Do these have a desktop mode like Dex?

    • +3

No. Going to have to go with Samsung if you want Dex and Windows integration.

Been with oneplus since the oneplus one, I'm disappointed with the direction they are taking in term of software and bloatware

    • +2

currently still on a 5t but have been watching the newer releases and specifically interested in the Nord, what is the bloatware you are referring to? From what I can tell Oneplus is still one of the slimmest android releases about.

      • +2

I am also on 5t, looking at Nord … I suppose my phone will last another year or 2

Can't delete the apps as it's a system app, need to root:

Not so stock android in the future:

        • Glad I saw this. My GS8 has been one of my least favourite Android phones, not looking to go down that path again.

        • Wow OnePlus really seem to be losing their way. I'm glad my 6 is still going strong

        • 5T security updates end in November (3 years after release). Not sure if it's worth the risk of using it for internet use past that date.

@wakie: As much as I dislike Apple phones, their phones keep being updated for fairly long… Or I might just go legacyOS or other CFW

          • +1

@wakie: Only if you use Oneplus official roms. I have been on a custom since day 1. Plenty out there to choose from.

            • @tids2k: yeah true, that's always an option

            • @tids2k: If you tried a few, any recommendation? LegacyOS would be my go to but if you know any better, i’m all hear

    • Unfortunately so many are. That's why its Nokia all the way for me.

  • Can we still do porting in and out with this sort of "No sim" phone? I mean like normal?

    • +1

I think no sim means the phone doesn’t come with a sim. I.e. unlocked.

  • +2

Nice stack it with rakuten 30 usd off with new signup

  • +3

    should arrive by Christmas 2021

  • +1

Just watch out the phones from oneplus will not support VoLTE/ VoWiFi out of the box. In my case, I have to do heaps of work around on my 7T pro to get it working, on my Telstra network.

    • +1

That said, for those that like tinkering it's a bit of fun, and satisfying to get it working :)

    • +3

could you share some information how you did that? any video tutorial ?? thanks

  • BEWARE!!!!! had a bad experience with them. bought a projector screen and it didn't arrive. contact them and they ask me for proof. how the (profanity) are you suppose to prove something that never come. case was closed and my money was gone. Definitely go with Amazon.

    • +2

With the oneplus store or aliexpress? Why didn't you go with a chargeback if they were refusing?

      • never heard anything about the chargeback. what is that? and how does it work?

        • Charge back from your credit card provider.

          • @iDroid: would you mind explain how it work? do you just call your credit card provider that you didn't receive the item? if so won't they need you to prove it?

            • @ratanalim: Call your credit provider and request a charge back (ID the transaction).
They will send you some forms to fill out.
              It takes time, be patient.

              • +2

@Other: It will also get you banned from AliExpress.

  • Need a new phone very soon, apart from iphones and samsung is oneplus the best bet?

    • It depends on your budget and needs….

      • Like I said in the below comment, I dont game at all but I am after a good quality camera..
Happy to spend 4 figures if needed.

        • Certainly you can spend 4 figures for good camera phone like Apple 11 max pro, Samsung note 20 ultra, Oppo find X2 pro, Huawei P40 pro etc.

But personally I would wait for Pixel 5…

        • If you need purely only camera, a 4a would be a good choice

Edit: oops didn't see the replies below

    • +3

I would check out the Pixel 4a. Same price as this with better camera, Aus Warranty

      • Pixel 4A is ok but missing two features that Pixel 5 would have: water resistance and wireless charging.

        • Have they announced it?

          • @Bearkel: FCC filing shows it would have wireless charging and reverse wireless charging or power sharing.

    • +2

PIXEL 4A is the phone to go… $599 - 3 years of guaranteed os upgrade, Aus warranty and best camera quality for the price.

      • They are announcing the Pixel 5 real soon too?
I am after the best camera quality, I don't play games on phone so I guess there is no need for the fastest processor

      • That small screen size though :-(

  • Only if it had Android One…

  • I know when that hotline bling…

  • +1

Until they officially release in Australia, I wouldn’t bother…

No warranty or local support. No VoLTE or VoWifi without hassle, and VoLTE or VoWifi will not work at all with some carriers…

    It’s a no from me…

    • I don't know why you're downvoted.

Claiming warranty would be a bitch. I bought a Lenovo Ideapad Flex 5 from Amazon US which came with a broken Camera, which unfortunately I noticed after a month. Lenovo wouldn't even fix it, let alone replace it. I had to post it back, not worth the hassle. Obviously, might be different for OnePlus, but I'd imagine it would be worse.

  • I wonder how this compares to the Oppo Reno 5G. I got the Oppo to replace my smashed Oneplus 6, and really don't like it.

  • Is this the global or Indian version ? Beware if it is the Indian version as it misses out on some bands like 28.

    • It's the global version with an EU plug charger.
