Another day, another NVMe deal. This is the lowest price I've ever seen this drive at, even lower than the Sillicon Power 512GB P34A80 which is usually seen as the "cheaper" version of this drive.

So, what differentiates this drive/deal from all the others posted recently? Apart from the solid performance, this drive comes with a whopping 800TBW of endurance on a 500GB class drive, the highest at this price point, and 33% higher than the Samsung 970 PRO, a drive that's 2x the price. This makes it perfect for write heavy workloads like scratch drives, NAS flash cache drives, and other workstation or server workloads. Combined with a 5 year warranty, this looks like the perfect drive for those eager for higher endurance drives.

Standard features:

  • PCIe 3.0 x4 / NVMe 1.3
  • Toshiba 64L TLC NAND
  • 512MB DDR4 DRAM
  • Phison E12 Controller
  • 5 year warranty / 800TBW endurance

Mod Update 12/10: Price has decreased to $111.17

This or the WD BLACK SN750? Price for the 500gb is $102.79 atm

WD SN750 will likely "benchmark" higher than this drive, but the perk of this drive isn't necessarily it's speed, rather it's endurance. The SN750 only has 300TBW endurance rating for the 500GB model, contrasted with the huge 800TBW rating of the MP510.

Between the two drives there isn't likely to be a noticeable difference performance wise (at least outside of benchmarks), but if you do something that's heavy in writes (like using an SSD as a scratch disk for video editing, as a cache drive in a storage array or NAS, or in a database server for example), then the additional 500TBW of endurance is definitely a reason to pick this up over the SN750.

If you don't need the endurance (most won't), then the SN750 is likely the better choice at that price.
