    4 x $85 HP Compaq DC6700
    40GB Hard Drive
DVD Player & CD Player <—- WTH, no burner?
    Windows XP Home Edition SP3
    1GB RAM Memory DDR2
    Intel Celeron D 3.06GHz

Those desktops are practically worthless. $85 isn't a bargain.

I think the rep WILL GIVE YOU $85 for clearing up their space

    • Heh, I had to negotiate with a charity not long ago to take (for free!) a very similar computer from my workplace even though it was in a perfectly serviceable condition. Just shows how much it's worth.

So how does the EeeBox compare with Officeworks eMachine at $388 ?
Specs seem better on the eMachine, and it comes with a monitor. Less ram though.

Doesn't seem to be much of a bargain to me.

  • No bargain here. Ex-lease computer is pretty cheap. I bought an ex-lease core 2 duo for $70 recently.

    • May I ask where?

      • +1

Check out the computer auctions in Allbids.com.au

It's canberra based though. Most core 2 duo goes for less than $100.

        • thanks!

  • What are your guys thoughts on the LCD screen? Good deal or not? Have mine sitting in the cart but not sure if there's a higher resolution screen at $100.

My friend has AOC 20" and it is a good monitor. I think it has got anti glare screen too. My 19" HP screen goes only upto 1280 * 800

    • Seems good overall, but it doesn't support HDCP. But at this price, you may not care.

think its quite similar compared to the eeebox.

    $1xx more for the DVD?

  • I salvaged a few PCs from a skip last year with better specs (e.g. 80Gig HD and Pentium 4 3.0Ghz). I took most of them back to a skip about three weeks ago because they were just gathering dust in my garage.

    • Scary thought that only a few years ago a P4 was the holy grail of desktop computing. Oh, how times have changed!
