First time poster and have been eyeing this motherboard for a while based on a lot of positive feedback from amazon and you-tubers alike. Ordered yesterday at $529 and just saw the price drop today. Quickly cancelled my order and reordered again.

next cheapest local stock (I could find) is
https://www.skycomp.com.au/gigabyte-x570-aorus-master-am4-at… ~$556
while some stores still selling for a bit over $600 give or take

I know it's not for everyone, but hey it's a pretty good deal for those looking for a pretty high end x570 board.

p.s based on amazon q&a this is apparently the (rev 1.1) model with the difference being the thunderbolt header

Edit: prices seemed to have increased slightly from 497.65 to 499.01 but still a good deal nevertheless

  • holy moly that is a good find! i got mine at $580 :(

got mine last week for $560 from Compuworld. USA warranty/RMA claims suck.

Why do you guys spend so much on motherboards?
I have a B550 Tomahawk and thought I spent more than enough ($250).

What is it about this that makes it worth more than double the price of most other boards?

        • +2

For starters, the 550 series can't use the latest PCIE.

          • @Beyond: The "support" B550 has for PCIe 4.0 would be enough for the majority of people though.

            • @TheContact: Is there something limited about PCIe 4.0 support on these boards?

              • +1

                @monkeynews: The B550 chipsets themselves don't support PCIe 4.0.

Support for that comes directly from the CPU. Generally the first x16 PCIe slot and one NVMe is connected directly to the CPU with PCIe 4.0. Some boards do some switching to get more lanes for NVMe drives at the cost of taking the x16 slot down to x8.

                • @TheContact: Thanks, but wouldn't that be the case for any motherboard? If the CPU supports PCIe 4.0 you should be fine?

                  • +3

@monkeynews: Difference is that B550 chipset is connected to the CPU with PCIe 3.0, X570 is connected with PCIe 4.0. Every expansion slot on an X570 board is connected with PCIe 4.0, that's not the case with B550 boards, anything that goes through the chipset is gonna be PCIe 3.0. For most people that would mean less PCIe 4.0 NVMe drives.

                    • @TheContact: Cool thanks for clarifying. Half way through a build at the moment, seems like x570 may be a bit more future proof to 550 if that's the case. Might look at the lower priced x570 boards like the Aorus.

Yo I'm just over here with my $150 b450. I imagine these mobos must be used by professionals who are doing rendering or video editing or something. At a consumer level these mobos don't offer anything different.

This board has good connectivity which makes it fairly versatile. This also should work with the ASUS essence STX II soundcard I bought 6 months ago from another ozbargain deal too (ryzen known to have issues with it). I'll be putting in either a 4950x or 3950x depending on launchdates, an RTX 3090, 5 harddrives and 3 NVME drives. I also need wifi and wired connection and want to do a moderate overclock. This board ticks a lot of boxes that others dont.

  • Good price!

  • What length warranty? It's never clear on Amazon.

Not that compuworld or gigabytes own website is any better.

    • +1

      Yes it does

    • +2

      Is there wired wifi?

    • +1

Wtf is this minimum effort comment? Even in the thumbnail you can tell it has antenna connections.

  • +2

Rev 1.2 possibly has the thunderbolt header put on in production rather than soldered on manually later.

Dunno if they truly exist though?

Thunderbolt security flaws are interesting. Full access to encrypted drives without leaving a trace etc. Haven't really started reading yet www.thunderspy.io

    • +1

Annnd now you have me wanting Thunderbolt on my rev1.0

Just had a quick google and the TB3 revisions would have been shipping since March/April

    • -1

intel and us and massive non disclosed security flaws - yawn - yesterday news

look at how few reported it and how they did it - like wired 'Security paranoiacs'

the labelling of people being concerned about why intel left these holes as being mentally ill….labelling victims the go to tactic of the fascist.

  • My absolute highest limit for mobo's was/is $500… guess this is a sign.

  • is there a sealed on the outer box for motherboard, or is it just a seal motherboard itself with the plastic wrap?

Am I the only one who thinks the Gigabyte software is shockingly bad? It’s like something from Windows 3.1 days.

    • -1

The gigabyte bios is literally the king right now. I would shockingly put it above asus.

      • +1

the BIOS is good. the software and its Appcentre is absolutely trash.

Even till now Fusion RGB 2.0 installation file is buggy, where C++ redistribution package cannot be installed and this is a problem issue from 2018 (still not solved by Gigabyte).

So although the BIOS is very good, the softwares and Apps aren't.

        • Yeah fusion 2.0 is causing blue screens with my gigabyte x570 master. I've given up on fusion 2.0 now so if anyone has a fix please let me know.

  • don't think gigabyte.au support US purchases anymore … anyone know for sure?

  • My dilemma is my Asrock Fatal1ty X370 Gaming X1 has issues drama trying too get it too boot, it does with alot of attempts

Long story short I have 2x Zotac 1070 Ampere editions graphics cards and the only x570 model boards that support SLI are over $500 too purchase from AU

Looking at the specs of this Gigabyte master it supports SLI and Crossfire but no mention of NVIDIA® NVLink weirdly enough, I like the specs of this board though reading maybe the Asus version is a better bet? Even the Asrock version has issues from some reviews

Wish these boards were cheaper and strangely AMD doesn't support SLI on cheaper x570 boards just Crossfire

edit: actually Asus ROG X570 Crosshair VIII Hero and MSI
versions dont support NVIDIA® NVLink only the Astock X570-TAICHI does
