  • Does anyone familiar with this router know if it does access point mode with mesh? I bought the Xiaomi line (Redmi AX5) which has AP mode and mesh (via firmware update), but frustratingly won't do AP mode with mesh. I have a pfsense doing my routing so no need for the router functions.

    • No, it only does ap mesh with another Huawei router.

There comes a time when you need to stand for your nation and nationalism is needed.

‘Made in China’ is tough to avoid (in time though)…But avoid buying CCP / China brands at least, it will help.

Why to pay an enemy govt who’s openly threatening my future.

Any Australian-made router you can recommend?

      • +3

if nbn is the results of our networking abilities…..

      • +2

That's the issue.. World has put all the eggs in one basket. Good that we are understanding the risk.. Soon the alternatives will be available. Till then avoid as much as possible.

I guess, you did not read the statement properly.
Reading was also an IELTS parameter that should have been taken seriously.

    • an enemy govt who’s openly threatening my future

      wat?

    • go drink a vb mate….oh wait nevermind. maybe a furphy. oh nvm about that either

      • That's ok, I prefer 4 pines, Little Creatures …or Asahi made in Japan version, which is much better beer.

        • they are all asahi or kirin lol
what is australian made if all profits get shifted back to japan

            @astarman: agai, read carefully..
Didnt score very well in IELTS , did you ;)

Is this the Chinese version or the global version? Looks like the Banggood not mentioning international, I would assume it is Chinese version.

I have using the Chinese version for 1 month, very stable and strong 5Ghz wifi signal, can mesh and make 2.4Ghz, 5Ghz wifi all in one ssid. Tried wireless meshed wifi, speed has some minor drop through the second router, so don't expect Netgear orbi level performance. However, I checked the Chinese version are locked to Chinese settings, and cannot set to AU region wifi standard means they may interfere with other wireless channels. I also found the ws7200-20 firmware which is the international version, and the Chinese version cannot be flashed to international firmware.

On a scale of tinfoil hats to political views, how good are these comments!

    CCP garbage.

I've been using the AX3 Pro for 3 months now and it's very stable. I also have a Mate 20 Pro which supports 160 mhz and I get around 850+ Mbps when close to it. I'm on a gigabit plan with AussieBB.

  • I ordered one from someone else. Cost me 65 dollars

  • Apparenty no openvpn on the router :(

  • Hope you all can read mandarin. Entire GUI is locked as CN.

  • Guys, this router only costs you ¥255 (Approx A$50) in China, or do we have to consider it a bargain in Au lol?

    https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a230r.1.14.9.90932848qb…

    • ¥340 is ~$70 nowadays, and sure you can enjoy the same price if:
      (1) Australia decides to cancel all import tax;
      (2) Sellers don't need to pay GST;
      (3) The item will magically show up in front of you.

ohh more like it used to be before the yanks got border tax introduced as part of their economic war on china?

        • +1

          what?

      • +1

Mate if you login you would find that the retail price for this unit is ¥255.
I've been shopping via Taobao for quite a while and they do have overseas shipping service which is convenient.
Never got any tax hassles with this kinda amount.

        • +1

True, I do that as well, no tax, no GST, since the package is personal and the value doesn't go beyond the $1,000 tax threshold. I even thought about creating a business out of it. But things get very different if you're a business, you can't avoid the taxes and other costs…doing business in Australia is so hard…given the high tax and labor cost.

I got your point that paying $100 for a thing selling at $50 in another place means low value, but I feel that's the case of most of the imported stuff here…sad.

          • @phoenixpan: we pay more because of our support for america's economic war on china.

its the same truth it was when the Liberals introduced it. Nothing to do with australian retail - all smoke and mirrors and the 77th Brigade.

we just get poorer every year because of our puppets in power

            • @petry: Yeah, I feel bad about it too, hope they stop messing things up…that may fundamentally change the lifestyle of every Australian.

    CPP has entered the chat.

      or the 77th brigade again

'The senior Twitter executive with editorial responsibility for the Middle East is also a part-time officer in the British Army’s psychological warfare unit, Middle East Eye has established.

Gordon MacMillan, who joined the social media company's UK office six years ago, has for several years also served with the 77th Brigade, a unit formed in 2015 to develop “non-lethal” ways of waging war,“and am a reserve officer in the British Army serving in 77th Brigade, which specialises in non-lethal engagement”.

His page has recently been edited to remove all references to his service with 77th Brigade.

Twitter also declined to answer questions about its executive’s British Army duties, despite its pledge to disclose further information about state-affiliated information operations.'

this site if full of their posts routinely…

    • What's CPP?

Man all these Huawei deals have become too political. If you don't like it move on, why start arguments with strangers. It just makes you look foolish. Use another medium, not a ozbargain deal

    • used by the 77th to propagate hate, and you can't let fake news and propaganda go unchallenged, since this site readily allows 'off topic' until it is called out.

  • +3

Fascinating that there has been bugger all comments about the the actual product which is quite good hardware for the money.

  • +3

Forget the politics. Mine arrived yesterday. Fantastic performance improvement. Best 100 bucks I’ve ever spent. Interface is in Chinese but easy work around. Took minutes to set up with an Optus AC800S / DC112 in bridge mode. Absolutely love it.

    • I agree, great product. The 2.4ghz signal is very good too.

    • mine arrived yesterday but I'm having trouble setting it up as the setup is in Chinese, Chrome wouldn't translate the setup page into english. how did you manage to set it up? could you pls share with me

  • It's tempting to get 2 but would Huawei honour warranty claims for units shipped from China?

    • +1

Half of Huawei is Honour, Honour this and Honour that. I am sure they won't disappoint.

      • It's the unhonourable half that worries me
