Free Battlefield 3 Dog Tags (360, PS3, PC)

930

EA and Dice are giving away more Battlefield 3 freebies via some cross promotion. This time the reward is five free dog tags that can be used to personalise your online persona, simply by spending a few minutes to watch a trailer for the upcoming film, Act of Valor.

To get your free dog tags, visit actofvalor.com/bf3 and watch the films trailer (or switch tabs and wait). Once the trailer is finished you will be asked to choose your platform of choice and sign in using your EA account details, and that's it.

Note:
It seems PS3 users are having trouble redeeming the codes, the codes may require a US account to be used as suggested in the comments

Thanks. Noticed "Code expires 31st March 2012".
    The movie looks good, too.

  • Many thanks! Also worked for me. +1 Movie looks great.

looks like a good movie, thanks

  • Would I be able to redeem it even if I haven't installed Bf3 ? So like after I redeem it will it come to my Bf3 profile when I install it ?

    • Code expires 31st March 2012, so put the code in when you get the game.

  • For PC players you don't get a code you just log in to your EA account and it automatically unlocks the dogtags, movie looks awesome.

So we need to create an EA Account first?

    • You need to have:

      • an EA account
      • the Battlefield game, somewhere in the near future before the dogtags expire.

in order to claim your dogtags.

I don't think these are real dog tags.
I thought it was real one :)

What is included in the prize?
Five dog tags for use in Battlefield 3: "Had to be Snakes," "Flaming Skull," "Metal," "Rabbit Duck" and "Death’s Hand"

Watch the video and follow the link. Log in with the EA/Origin account that you use to play Battlefield 3, and if no error appears on the confirmation page, the dog tags should be available in the game the next time you start it.

"in game" dog tags. Hard to see that they'd be something you'd pay for anyway.

    • +3

Yeah, I was expecting some free dog tags for my puppies… What a disappointment (for my dogs), LOL… Nice movie. Maybe I should check out the game.

    • Confirmed. Gotta play 1 match

  • Movie looks pretty good! Thanks.

    • It does, and I think it's a great way of advertising it buy giving out free dog tags. I don't think most people mind watching a decent 4min trailer to get some dog tags.

    Repped for awesome trailer.

    US PSN accounts only, unfortunately.

    • Dammit. No wonder why I can't enter the Redeem Code to my AU PSN. Errghh..

  • +3

Cool they made a movie about my Battlefield bravery….thank god they don't show the TeaBagging that goes on.

  • Have there been previous dog tag freebies that are still available?

    • Oliver - yep, the Alienware dogtag promo is still valid. Google 'alienware bf3 dogtags'.

      • Only for PC though.

    • There was a Dr Pepper promo in the US only

  • Maybe it's just me but the code is invalid for PS3.

  • Now, that's a good movie without big star in it, or is it ?

    • +1

      Yeh true.
      Looks good still
For a second there I thought the woman who got abducted was Sandra Bullock…

  • +1

silly question, but what's a dogtag?

    • +1

You seriously have no idea what a dogtag is? You need to watch some war movies son!

Dogtags = Identification tags: They are a way of identifying soldiers in the field (and when they are dead). Usually carries information like rank, battalion number, medical conditions etc.

i know that, but the dogtags in the game, like do u just wear it or?..

        • +1

It's displayed to the people you kill in multiplayer - kind of gloating or showing off I guess.

Also, I believe anyone who knifes you in multiplayer are "given" your tags - at least that's what occurred in BF:BC2…

          great, thanks!

  • looks like battlefield 3 the movie.
i wonder if with all of this cross promotion/collaboration, these are the same guys who did the battlefield 3 live action trailer?

    • Me too. After I watched the video and logged in, I got "Sorry, this offer is open to users in the United States and Canada only."

  • Is for US or Canada only :(

  • +1

Also got the US or Canada thing, any tips from people who have successfully recieved this for PC?

  • +2

EDIT: I successfully recieved the dog tags by going to my EA profile at profile.ea.com, and updating my country info to United States, clicking back on the page that I still had open that said "Sorry, this offer is open to users in the United States and Canada only" and BAM. Was also using a US proxy, although this shouldn't be necessary :D
