    Inconsistent shuckabulity.

      The hell does this mean

Take it out, electrical tape over a pin and it's shucked.

  • Review in May from reddit shows WD101EMAZ which are white labelled red drive that are air filled.

    • Air filled is a no-go imo as heat is the determining factor for premature HDD death.
      Helium runs way cooler.

Much cheaper $/TB, still available. Not tax writeoffable, and more expensive upfront.

    • Not tax writeoffable

I think you can write off in the tax, just not at once.

    • +1

The tax write off is only useful if your income is still in the top tax bracket.
I'm glad some people have still got income to claim against this year. Better for me to depreciate over 3 years via straight line so that I can claim 2/3 of the cost when hopefully I've got an income again.

      • +1

The tax writeoff is useful for anyone who pays ANY tax.

        • …unless you're a normal salaried employee, in which case your employer would be buying you a Hard Drive if your job required it.
Unless you're self-employed, why would you buy your own IT equipment for work use ?

          • @Nom: Employers don't always provide everything a worker needs to do the job. One might need the HDD to store work files he brings home.
I buy workwear all the time as my employer doesn't provide them. Not quite the same but same principle.

  • Hrmmmm, this is relevant to my interests… But would an equivalent Seagate Expansion deal be better?

  • The product description for this drive says:

Microphone, Call, Track, and Volume Control
    Bluetooth wireless technology
    Adjustable Sensory Bass

    Hrmmm….

  • Thanks OP was waiting for that to pop up again.

  • They are all sold out.
