Another incoming wave of kids crying to their parents to buy this…

  • Damnyou Nintendo, Enough with the unexpected drops.

My Wallet cant handle it anymore!

    • +5

      Don't buy them?

  • How long until Epic tries to screw Nintendo, getting Fortnite removed from Nintendo Online.

    • +1

They are in partnership with Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony for Unreal Engine, its the only reason they aren't being sued along with Google and Apple. Each have the same 30% and Epics happy with that.

      • +3

Epic used to be in partnership with Apple. Epic engineers stood on stage with Tim Apple during Apple keynotes to talk up the benefits of Apple's own graphics solutions, like with Infinity Blade.

        • +2

          Tim Apple 😂

        • +1

LOL @ Tim Apple, I almost forgot about that.

        • Unsure if Epic got paid for that "stunt", rather a mutually agreed benefit for both at the time :) Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony pay mega bucks for the Unreal engine so its best not to p!ss them off or they might start using another game engine like CRYENGINE, etc .

Epic cannot afford its big players to leave. Not sure how Epic can explain to a court that it doesn't want to pay Apple and Googles 30% but are happy to pay Microsofts, Sony etc 30%. 🤣

    • +1

It's a complex topic, but for reputable games that drive their own business, they don't need the exposure or support from the app store environment. In this case apples bargaining position essentially comes down to extortion "give us 30% of sales or we'll cut you off from half the market and risk destroying your business/game". There is no logic to this number, or any scope for negotiation.

      • Near 9/10 US teenagers own an iPhone https://www.androidauthority.com/iphones-teens-2020-1105353/

If Epic's target demographic is not teenagers, what is it?

        • Haha ok so they cut them off from their entire market. Apple should be demanding 50%!

        • My kids just switched playing on iPads to the Xbox and PC the day it was banned. They've been complaining for months Fortnite was boring and Epic was lazy and had taken all the great features from Fortnite (I have no idea) and even started trying other first person games, this annoyance hasn't not help Epics cause in this house.

          • @WhiteEvo6: It's not like Fortnite can stay on top forever. Though Pokemon has stayed on top of kids RPGs for decades, so who knows. But now that iOS supports console controllers and that Apple's ARM designs have the power to play any shooter ported to it, it could be that iOS and Android become the defacto second "console" in most young people's lives, next to their PC or xbox/ps5. Blizzard certainly thinks mobile will be the future of gaming, even Nintendo flirted with mobile gaming. How long until we see full Nintendo games on iOS, or how long until the average AAA shooter launches with a mobile port? And then how long until AAA shooters on PC and console are just ports of the top mobile games.

  • "unique design dock/console/joycons"

can we just put some sticker decal on the normal console and turn it into more unique design ?

    • +3

You ca go all Jackson Pollock on it for an even more unique design.

  • Release in November

  • +7

This is probably a smart move by Nintendo. With ALOT of kids playing on the ipad etc and unable to anymore, this looks more appealing to parents and kids.

    • +1

      Only if parents are dumb…

  • Are these any good? My last console was a playstation 2. I want something simple to play with the family and maybe multilayer as well

    • +3

Yes, they are simple to use and perfect for multiplayer too.

  • +1

Just a parallel question..how many of you think that Fortnite is age appropriate for 8 year old+?

    • +2

      Yes it's fine.

    • I thought that's about the age group Fortnite was targeted to…

      • +1

My son used to play 4-5 months back on another gaming platform and I was fine with it. His school friends would jump in as well online.
Our family friends started to raise eye brows and thats when it struck to me…may be it is not. I looked in to it and its from G, PG and M on https://www.classification.gov.au/.

        • +1

Researching the free game by playing it yourself or watching videos of gameplay online is 100% better than asking strangers on the internet or reading classification guides.

  • +2

I'd buy those joycons for my son if they sold them separately, I don't need a 6th Switch console thanks

  • +1

Still available for pre order LOL

Bloody Nintendo, out of all the games they could of released a special edition they go and release this.

    like seriously…

  • +1
